For him, a good time is a day where he can read a good book, fish to his heart’s content, and enjoy some good tea. He is slow and steady and often doesn’t get involved in things that require too much effort or could bring him trouble. Due to this, he often spends a lot of his time alone and can take care of and look after himself. He can fish for himself and has a passion for making good food. He would rather be alone and at peace than be around others and live a stressful life. This is often reflected in his interactions with others as he is often inattentive towards other people’s wants and needs. Most of the time, he will always prioritize his own needs over others and holds no strong loyalty or ties to other people. Companionship for him has to be convenient, and if it becomes inconvenient, he would be the first to leave his friend in the dust. Despite this, he can get along with others well due to his amiable and humorous personality. Liang is open and friendly, often approaching others with a casual and warm smile. When he’s in the mood for it, he enjoys spending time with others and trading fun stories. He enjoys making others laugh as well, even if it is at his or another person’s expense. He likes to think of himself as being witty and humorous but at times his humor can be mean, and he is not above making light jabs at others making him rather tactless and rude at times. If he can’t be bothered, he wouldn’t bother censoring his true beliefs and can surprisingly speak harshly when the situation calls for it, though his insults are often hidden behind a sunny smile and a laugh. Though Liang often uses his intelligence in not so intelligent ways (such as for making inappropriate jokes or for coming up with witty insults), there is no denying that he is well-read and intelligent. His intelligence often comes out when people least expect it, but he can often give a unique perspective on issues and is the type of person to think out of the box. None of this matters much however, as the boy is thoroughly unambitious by nature and has no greater vision for his future. His dream life is one of seclusion where he can be as unbothered as possible and stay away from trouble. Consequently, Liang is often considered to be cowardly by many of those around him. Though he is not afraid to snidely insult those around him, he does not have the courage to truly stand up to those he feels that he cannot beat. Though Liang admires important heroes of legend, he is truly no hero. |

「 I don't think my life is anything interesting... 」
Qi Liang’s feelings toward other people are confusing and often contradictory. As a child, he had a hard time getting along with some of the members of his clan. Though he was smart and at times showed great promise in his studies of runes, he never liked to show off how capable he was and rather enjoyed goofing off. He rarely took his studies in his clan seriously and did not find any enjoyment in keeping old historical records but rather found more enjoyment out of tall tales and legends. Being unambitious and quiet by nature, he did not stand out much amongst the kids of his clan and so the boy did not have many friends. When he did interact with other children his age, he often came across as too uncaring and irresponsible. His friendships were short and fleeting. With no close friends by his side, Qi Liang spent most of his time in the company of books or his mother as his father had died while he was still young to disease. His mother raised him in a quiet household and taught him to be self-sufficient. She instilled in him a love of good food and fishing and he still continued to appreciate those aspects of life even after his mother eventually passed on as well when he turned thirteen. Before he learned about the exchange program that the new emperor was implementing, he had lived in quiet seclusion, often skipping his lessons in the clan and only occasionally leaving his home. Though he lived in peace, a part of him did feel a certain longing for connection and so when he heard about the exchange program, the distant boy found himself volunteering to be entered into the program. Though it was difficult to leave his childhood home behind, he wanted to make a greater effort to connect with people and the world that he had only learned about from his books. |

► Theme Song ► Though he skipped many of his classes, he still surprisingly kept up with his study of runes ► The type of beg for his life in a fight rather than try to beat his opponent. ► He can swim - or rather, he just enjoys floating in water and doing absolutely nothing. ► Qi Liang is talented with playing the bamboo flute but has a bad habit of practicing even at night, greatly annoying those around him (probs wouldn’t stop even if you asked). ► Loves watching chaotic things going down but doesn’t participate. He’s more of an observer. ► He’s actually a great cook and can make a good cup of tea as well, which are skills that he’s actually proud to show off since his mom taught him how to do these things. |

He enjoys her company a lot because he doesn't hold his past against him, and he feels as though he can easily open up to her. |

| Hitomu | Friend Although initially alarmed at encountering a demon for the first time, he was surprised to learn that Hitomu was actually a very down-to-earth individual that didn't give off any threatening vibes at all. He began talking to him and slowly built up his trust for Hitomu. Avery enjoys hearing about Hitomu's job and is amused by how much he hates it. |
