Reth was the first born to Lateralus and Obscenity. Her parents were not lovers and were simply friends. She grew up with her parents and Lateralus's adopted son Spike and some of Lateralus's family. However, things turned ugly when Obscenity died giving birth to Reth's sister, Tessen. In order to nurse Tessen, Lateralus sent Spike to find a nursing mare. He found a vixen named Andromeda. Andromeda took care of both Reth and Tessen and Reth thinks of her as an adoptive mother, even though Obscenity was alive to raise her. Reth eventually grew close to Spike and one day he took her to a clearing he'd made for her. It was good for a while, but turned sour when Reth refused to play with Spike, not wanting to have a foal relationship with him. Afterward, Spike avoided Reth and they didn't speak for an entire year unless absolutely necessary. Reth completed her Warrior training and gained a position in the herd.

Reth eventually confronted Spike about why they were not getting along and Spike finally told her that he never had a childhood and wanted a chance to have one with her. They eventually made up and fell in love with each other. They had sex afterward. However, Reth did not expect to get pregnant her first time and panicked, not wanting to die like her mother had and confided in Andromeda. When Lateralus's mate, Dementia was taken by Lucifer, her father found out that she was expecting a foal. She gave birth to her daughter, Lashka around the same time Andromeda gave birth to Oriax, her half brother. Reth did not expect to become a mother, but she and Spike raised Lashka.

Reth confronted an intruder in Dark Woods named Thunderhead and after a brief attempt of him trying to rape her, they found out that they were half siblings. Reth took Thunderhead to their father. She came to the herd meeting Andromeda called along with Astronomy. Reth and Spike eventually decided to leave Dark Woods with Lashka and went traveling, going to see the world and what it had to offer. However, after a while they began to grow homesick and decided to return home to Dark Woods. She finds the herd in mild disarray and discovers from her father that Schism betrayed the herd by raping a mare and was banished. However, even though Lateralus has taken over the herd, her father is getting too old to run the herd on his own. She offers to take over the herd with Spike and he agrees to this. She takes over Dark Woods as the Queen. She meets one of the newest herd members, Mynorin, and his son, Kyler.

Shortly after she becomes Queen, a stallion named Sempiternal tries to steal her. The steal fails, but he challenges for her instead. Reth goes to meet him in the Battlegrounds to fight him. Unfortunately, she loses the battle and goes to his homeland of Gray Pine Valley. From there, Sempiternal questions her about the inner workings of Wild Equines and she readily tells him what she knows. After this, she is free to return home and she does. She meets with triplets, Agamemnon, Aella and Arthmin, who are looking for Zela. She also sees the return of Thunderhead. Her mate Spike then holds a herd meeting, which she attends. She is then challenged for the lands of Dark Woods by a stallion named Ra'Zac. She meets him in the battlegrounds, and wins the battle. She travels back home and discovers that she is pregnant. She meets with a Versai mare that arrives at Dark Woods, named Trinity, and another Versai member named Erathel.

She is in labor when a pack of wolves suddenly attacks her. She is aided by her father, Lateralus, and her mate, Spike, who manage to fight off the wolves. However, her father is fatally wounded and dies in the conflict. Reth gives birth to twins, Vojorn, a daughter, and Ziegen, her first son. She is in shock over her father's death, and misses it when Strife is stolen from the herd by Milton. She goes to challenge for Strife, and wins the battle. She then welcomes in a new herd member by the name of Cypher, who seems to be interested in her far more than she expects. He brings along his mate, Fractured and their son, Nixon.

Reth is then challenged for the land of Dark Woods by Contagion. She fights the battle, but regrettably loses. She moves the herd out of the territory and seeks refuge with an ally in the Neutral territories. It becomes a subland under one of the Neutral mainlands, but soon afterward, the mainland leader steps down. They ask Reth and Spike if they would like the mainland and they agree. Reth feels that the Neutral lands suit Dark Woods more than the Dark ones did. However, with the stress of raising twins, maintaining her relationship with Spike, losing her father, and losing her family's lands, the stress is getting to Reth and she is starting to go through what might become a mental breakdown. She meets with the Neutral Queen, Nimue. She also meets with Cypher again and the two discuss the current events. She also meets with a mare named Hatikva in the Free lands, who tells her that she's the Beta mare to Romeo.

Several weeks later, another tragedy strikes the Queen as she finds her mate, Spike, dead in Dark Woods with no markings to indicate how he died. She is overwhelmed with grief and calls a herd meeting to notify the herd members of Spike's death. She also inquires to the members if anyone would like to assist with the leadership of Dark Woods. Even in her grief-ridden state, her mind still works in logic. During this meeting, Headache returns to Dark Woods and informs them how she was captured by a stallion called Carnallust The Charmer. Several days after the herd meeting, she is visited by the Neutral King, Arthmin, who was a former member of Dark Woods with his triplet siblings. He informs her that he is visiting all of the Neutral territories to get a feel for them and their loyalties and offers his condolesences for Spike's death.

Reth lives the next couple of months in a sort of haze, not feeling anything after the death of her mate. Slowly, some of her herd members trickle away as Cypher and his mate and child leave. She essentially detaches herself from the rest of the world and lives in a quiet isolation, trying to maintain the herd as best as she can. Eventually, she begins receiving members who are long lost family members of hers, including her half sister, Jail Bird, her cousin, Jazmin, and her cousin Linkin Park, with his mate, Lady Katherine, and their son, Caradhras. With them comes along their former herd members, Megaera, Quantico, Nykeria, and Saturn. Reth begins to allow herself to feel again and decides to go out on a stroll where she meets a fellow Neutral territory leader named Xaohroa and the two of them get intimate. She also receives more herd members - Valentina Misfit, Madame Misfit, Dirk Misfit, and Dikta Misfit, all of whom are long lost relatives.

She continues to feel more and more detached as the days go by. A highlight happens when her daughter, Lashka returns to Dark Woods pregnant, but she soon vanishes again, along with Ziegenbock, who had been wandering around for a while now. Reth is left with only Vojorn and receeds farther and farther into a depression. She meets with a mare named Madame Romanovi, who asks for a subland for her courtesan house. After some persuasion, Reth agrees to it, though the mare never shows up to actually set it up. A meeting is then called for the entirety of the Neutral kingdom, and Reth attends the group meeting as well as a private meeting with Divine, where she learns that Arthmin has vanished. Only a few days later, Reth discovers that she is pregnant by Xaohroa and goes to tell him of the news. Surprisingly enough, Xaohroa offers to come back with her to Dark Woods to help raise his children. Reth is shocked and accepts his proposal, very happy that he has decided to join her and help raise their children together. Over the course of several months, their friendship deepens as they get to know one another better.

Nine months into Reth's pregnancy, Lashka returns to Dark Woods with her own twins in tow - Natsu and Agony. Lashka asks her mother to stay in Dark Woods and Reth accepts, meeting her grandchildren for the first time. Only a week or so before Reth gives birth, she is then visited again by Sempiternal, who tells her of his current predicament - that he is banished from the Light alliance for threatening to rape a challenger. Reth is horrified and angry at this and tells him he should do what Lexi says - get cleansed and become the stallion that she always thought he was. Reth gives birth four days later. She is accompanied by both Skye and Xaohroa as she gives birth to a filly and a colt - Hadriana and Radovan, respectively. She then goes to the task of raising her two newborns, something she hadn't done in five years. The two are a handful, but she is assisted by the entire herd. Only a few weeks after their birth, she is visited by Spike - returned from the Afterlife. From the start the meeting is a bit heated as Reth wonders why he's been gone for so long. He explains that he was born with a heart condition that he never told anyone about and that caused his death. She is angry at him but her anger multiplies tenfold when he asks her if they can continue their relationship not five minutes after he arrived. Enraged that he seems to think he's entitled to her despite the fact that he was gone for three years without a word, she yells at him to leave. Afterward she wanders Dark Woods in an angry haze but eventually manages to settle down. She meets a stallion named Decay, another Neutral herd leader, who questions her about an alliance between their two territories. She takes her two children to the Free lands to play with other foals and brings a new mare home to Dark Woods named Ksenia.

The twins turn five months old and there is a declaration of war from the Neutral Royals against the Helkaer Brotherhood. Reth attends the call by Cathair and Kalila and intends to assist them in any way that she can. After the meeting, she finds a mare named Kalryn wandering Dark Woods. Kalryn agrees to join Dark Woods. Shortly afterward, Reth is stolen by the newest Helkaer member named Sailcat. She travels to The Wasteland and Sailcat asks her questions about the whereabouts of Spike, who is her half-brother that she seeks vengeance on. She is eventually released and decides to hold a herd meeting afterwards to catch everyone up to speed and see who all is still around. There, they discuss plans for potential Helkaer invasion and evacuation of the herd. In the herd meeting, she discovers that Xaohroa and Hadriana are gone. She searches for them, but to no avail. They have either disappeared or left of their own volition. Several weeks later, Dark Woods is attacked by the Helkaer General, Sly, her daughter, Siavash, and Helkaer apprentice Lyulf. Sly sets Dark Woods on fire and Reth goes to face her. On the way there, she tells Linkin Park to get help from the Versai. She, along with her daughter Vojorn, her adoptive mother, Andromeda, Cadoc, and Ziegen, all face against Sly and her two companions. There is a fight, but eventually the fire forces them to leave. Most of Dark Woods burns, but the Versai manage to put out the fire before all of the trees are destroyed. The remaining trees are settled by the river. Divine meets with Reth shortly after the flames have been put out. Reth spends the next few days trying to clear her territory of ash. In the meantime, she is visited by two stallions, The Iron Bull, and Kitrasfel, who both request subherds, despite her lands burning. She agrees and they help her restore the territory. She also gains a few new herd members in Eudora, and her daughters, Sunfire and Ardor. Reth is also greeted by Chaos, the new Neutral Queen. With the lands cleared, Reth decides to confront Utopia to see if they can help restore her home. Rasa and Spike both show up and upon their declarations of support, Reth yells at both of them for abandoning Dark Woods to burn after they promised to protect them. Rasa and Spike promise to help accelerate the growth of Dark Woods, though the process will still be slow-going. Reth then visits her herd in Mount Vigilum to let them know of the cleanup and the promise made by the Afterlife leaders and to invite them home again. Afterward, Natsu is stolen by Sailcat. Reth challenges Sailcat for him and wins the battle in a forfeit when Sailcat tells her that Natsu is not worth the trouble. She then hears word of the final confrontation between the Neutral Kingdom and the Helkaer and she attends the massive battle alongside Vojorn, Linkin Park, and her father, Lateralus.

Unfortunately, the Neutral Kingdom loses the war against the Helkaer. Reth returns home and informs her herd members. She awaits the Helkaer occupation. Two days into the occupation, Reth is visited by her cousin, Respira, Commander of the Helkaer. A few months pass, and the Helkaer decide to the leave the Neutral Kingdom for unknown reasons. Reth and her herd are still recovering from the fire. Reth decides to visit Kular Valley, the Neutral Free land to see if anyone has heard why the Helkaer have left the Neutral Kingdom. She ends up running into Evander and Neverita, who are looking for a home. She is then visited by Spike, who introduces her to a set of triplets who he claims are the children of Ziegen. Afterward, she meets with Lashka, who goes into labor with quadruplets with the previous Neutral King, Cathair. She meets with Decay - fellow Neutral mainland owner - once more. About a week afterward, Reth is visited by the new Neutral Royals, Laqueta and Alistair. She starts to give up on her search for Xao and Hadriana. She is contacted by a messenger to join a Defense Council in the Neutral Kingdom set up by former Neutral Queen, Kalila. She attends the meeting with Kalila, Alistair, Divine, Yankee, Marangya, Abysm, and Nikko's Melody. After the meeting, she is greeted by Bull once more. Trinity then visits Dark Woods to check up on the herd after the fire. Reth is then visited by Tallulah, one of the new Neutral main land leaders.
