About

Growing up in the more rural areas of the valley, Bindi has always been more of the outdoorsy type. Spending her days outside in the forests, turning over rocks and poking at the critters found underneath has been a constant since the early days of her youth; and still is a hobby she tends to divulge in when not caring for the insects she keeps indoors. As a child, her family spent a lot of their time taking long weekends away from home to camp in deeper parts of the valley, which satiated Bindi's feral hunger for the unknown and new possibilities for adventure. Though her family found excitement and joy in exploring new places, they did not seem to appreciate waking up to their bed full of creepy crawlies that their daughter would bring to them after a long day in the riverbeds. It was her parents' hope that one day she would outgrow the needs to keep insects indoors for her own enjoyment- however, their fear of the bugs only pushed Bindi further into the world of entomology.

By the time she was old enough to go to school, she had gained the reputation amongst the school staff as the "bug girl", the teachers always having to check her bags and empty lunch containers to make sure she wasn't sneaking in the occasional pill pug or centipede into math class. She quickly became an outcast, especially as her schooling progressed, no one wanting to stick around and possibly be stuck listening to her ramblings about the newest insect news and discoveries. Bindi never minded the solitude though; the behavior of her classmates only wanting her to prove even more just how wonderful her little friends were. By the time she entered her first year of college, Bindi was on her way to making her mark on the world, studying in-depth insect population and learning the ins and out of the profession. By her junior year, Bindi landed a job as a researcher, tasked with tracking Emerald Ash Borer populations within her area in an attampt to mitigate the spread of the invasive species. She enjoyed the research aspect more than she thought she would, enjoying writing documents and creating maps of densely populated areas; however she found herself upset at the prospect of having to ultimately assist in destroying bug populations- even if they were never meant to be there in the first place.

After a few years of working, Bindi graduated college and decided to quit her job, wanting to work more with preserving insect species rather than destroying them. She joined a multitude of environmental and insect-related forums, where she met many like-minded individuals who shared her same passions. This was where she met Sage, a young, passionate lady with a love for nature and it's preservation. The two bonded quickly, exchanging contacts over private message and sharing photos of their new critter finds every day. Though Sage was more interested in the broader scope of environmental protection, she found Bindi's interest in insects to be more of a vital part of environmentalism than she initially thought. After careful deliberation on Sage's part, she sent a text to her bug-loving friend, offering her a position on her research team. At the time, the fireflies that were the pride and joy of the valley they were named after were dwindling in number with no immediately visible reason why; and Sage found this to be the perfect opportunity to get the help she needed in order to protect the many species of fireflies that live in the valley. As expected, Bindi immediately took the job with much fervor, bidding her family farewell before moving miles away from home to start her new life in Woodhurst. Ever since, Bindi has been at the forefront of environmental activism in Firefly Valley, educating young and old on the importance of the creepy crawlies that inhabit their world.
