Story

The only child of Baron Mordecai Swanson and Baroness Clara Swanson, Lark grew up in a loving, prosperous house. The defacto leaders of the charming town of Tenebor, Lark's family did their best to instill a sense of duty to the people in their son. Though personally unfamiliar with notable hardship and struggle for much of his life, Lark nonetheless proved to be a warm, amiable figure— if not the dignified noble his father hoped to shape him into. He had a penchant for music and outlandish reenactments experienced up until that point only in the books he read. Though he loved his home and his family, Lark ultimately proved restless and eager to see more of the world. This led to the first of several disagreements with his father who would rather his son set aside his flights of fancy in favor of responsibility. Ultimately however, encouraged by his mother Lark took a reckless leap of faith and set out to broaden his horizons.

It was a journey easier set out on than undertaken. Used to the comfort of home the road and the people on it proved to be a mixed bag, sometimes taking advantage of Lark's affable demeanor. Though he approaches every situation with a sense of wonder, warmth, and charm he's learned how to sway a situation to his advantage in the process. After a few months on the road by himself he met Borealis Tremaire, a dazed, flighty tiefling warlock with a sharp tongue and his own fair share of wild stories. The two hit it off, saved each others hides when Bo dragged him into trouble, and ultimately realized they made for quite the team. Choosing to introduce himself as Larkspur Swansong— a more fanciful stage name than his title by birth— Lark set aside nobility for the sake of his journey, determined to remake himself as an everyman. Sure, Bo personally leans them in the direction of con artistry, but if Lark has anything to say about it— and he's vocal enough to ensure that he does— he'll lean them right back towards his own brand of folk hero.

Its a back and forth sway spanning two years, with Lark comfortably ignoring his father's prompts to return home in favor of gallivanting around the country with Bo. He's gotten considerably more savvy on the road as he has, but has never lost that friendly spark that makes him so easy to get along with.

Baron Mordecai Swanson

Charming, if not imposing at first glance, the Baron Swanson is a man devoted to the people and his lineage. He has an unrivaled sense of duty matched only by his utter adoration for his wife. He met Clara young, when she was still an adventurer and he was petitioning for assistance dealing with a bandit threat to Tenebor. Enamored with her, Mordecai stepped off the sidelines and did his best to assist, and then promptly kept finding reasons to invite her aid again. Despite being at odds with his son frequently, he loves him just as much. Even so, he is incredibly dismayed that Lark chose to dishonor the family name by adding a g to the end of it.

Baroness Clara Swanson

A human adventurer, Clara grew up rough and tumble and scattered to the four corners of the country. She first came to Tenebor as part of a job, and proceeded to keep coming back at the invite of Mordecai in the worlds most unconventional courtship routine. Flirty, friendly, and a hopeless romantic herself Mordecai ultimately convinced her to settle down and start a family when she was at last ready to set down her sword. Lark is her only son and she dotes on him almost as much as Mordecai. But where her husband is preoccupied with duty and hopes to instill that in Lark as well, Clara is all too familiar with the call of adventure. Ultimately, it was her own supportive insistence that gave Lark the push he needed to set out on his own.
