Takanori is a 43 year old bartender and owner of a gay bar named OceanBlue. He made a bar as a petty way to prove a point but it turned out to be his most important work along with his adopted son Kenji.
He is a very open listener for he listens to majority of his costumers' probelms as he is always on the bar making them drinks. He never gives out advice but he does help them find people who can help them as he has made a lot of connections with people throughout his life.
He's a very sweet talker along with being flirty, people would usually drunkenly fall for him because of his words but he never answered any of them back. Along with his sweet words, he's also very competitive and petty, that's exactly how the bar came to exist. He would always compete to prove a point and he would not back down until he wins.
A few things that he does as well is cooking, to give to Kenji, for him to take home, and for making new menu recipes.
Crossdressing, or atleast getting dolled up with hair pins and pretty clothes, usually for seasonal occasion at the bar where he'd sometimes even be called "Mama" instead of "Papa".
And Lastly is just being a host and business owner, he finds it pretentious to say that but he doesn't really have much of a choice but to consder himself as such.
He wouldn't really consider his life as anything interesting, he would get into so much fights with the local thugs growing up for the smallest reasons. He grew up at a rural part of the city with a sh*tty father and mother who kicked him out in highschool after finding out he was gay. And he became homeless after finishing a small college course at the local college near their place.
Not that interesting to him at all, it's just him living his sh*tty, uneventful, queer, youth.
Years later, while he was drinking at a random bar in the city and critisizing their drinks, he found a man, about the same age as him, getting called out and harrassed for getting outed as gay.
Taka being himself, he rushed over there and stopped the fight-HA! as if, he got there and started to get into a fist fight with the people who was harrasing the man while critisizing all of their drinks and terrible service. The owner got so offended by the remarks that he just went, "Well yeah?! if you think you could make one better then do it yourself! You F**gt! Both of you get out!".
Then it made him think...he could definately make one better, it'll be a safe space for queer people like him and the man he saved...
Once they were outisde the man, who is named Masataka, thanked Takanori for saving him, all he wanted to do was to get a drink because his work was stressful when he got outed for his sexuality because he looked at another man with a slight interest. He felt so unsafe there that he wishes there was some other bar he could go to.
A wave of confidence and joy hit Takanori once he heard what Masataka said, he's doing it! He doens't care how long it would take! He will make that gay bar!
Man...Making a bar isn't easy but he made it work and OceanBlue is now on business! As a special thanks to Masataka, Takanori invited him as the first costumer of his new bar.
He never had an ambition or dream growing up but now that he has the bar he wouldn't change it for the world, he's proud of himself that he was able to make a safe space that he never realized he has always wanted.
Years later, after Masataka found his-now husband at the bar, Takanori found something else that might change his life laying in a pile of garbage behind the building, a son, Kenji. He couldn't help but think that he looked so much like him back when his parents first kicked him out that he decided to give him a job and a home, something to get him back on his feet, something that Takanori wished he had back then too.
Wow...He got himself a bestfriend, a bar, and a son...he might consider his life pretty interesting now...
And he can 100% confidently say, his bar is definately way better than the sh*t hole him and Masataka met in.
