Iro

As a reincarnated hero, Aka and her compatriates have stopped aging at their primes. This is also where her unnatural hair and eye colors come from.

Thousand Shuriken

Known as a master of ranged combat, Aka's shuriken are unending and sharp. She uses them to take control of the battlefield, limiting others' mobility and pinning them into place when needed.

Sword Saint

Before the shuriken became her signature weapon, Aka was a melee specialist with swordsmastery rivaling the noblest of samurai. She made a bet with her rival regarding who could master the other's specialty quicker and now she's stuck with it.

About

Aka is fierce on and off the battlefield, a warrior who doesn't hesitate to resort to violent means even when entirely unnecessary. It's what she's accustomed to doing and where her talents lie. She is careless with her words and actions and is rarely bothered by the consequences of her actions. Despite her lack of human understanding, she is fond of her subordinates. Headstrong and stubborn, she will act in the name of duty but little else unless she's convinced that she was the one who thought something up. She was a feud with Kuro that has spawned multiple wars in the past and detests people meddling in her business. Aka struggles with depression and finds it difficult to build motivation to do things.

The Hundred Clans Era

Nao was a child of the Kitsune clan, one of a hundred animal-totemed clans that hid themselves from the mainland and worshipped Lord Crow in exclusivity. This society sadly met its downfall at the hands of the warlord Eki, who stole the power of the gods to oppress humanity. Lord Crow urged the clans to send their most formidable heroes to defeat Eki but ran their souls ragged in her distress and caused the exhausted souls of the clans to die out completely. Nao and her companions, known as the Iro, made it as far as Eki's castle gates before they fell.

Aka of the Iro

The next time she opened her eyes was as Yurahime, a young princess of the Matsudaira born a century after her death. With unearthly red hair and uncharacteristic ferocity, she was regarded warily by her second-life family as either a divine portent or a demonic child. However, her odd coloring led her to reunite with her first-life comrades in similar situations. They were able to regroup and, with fresh bodies and new resources, defeated Eki once and for all.

The Rainbow Era

Having accomplished their foremost goal, the Iro were asked by the deities to settle down somewhere they could not wield undue influence. As reincarnated people, they had been blessed and ordinary people would be helpless to fight against them. They moved to a remote corner of Shikoku and declared themselves a sovereign nation, staying entirely out of any affairs outside their small borders. After founding the Aka clan, Yurahime took on the title of Aka as her sole name. However, she was plagued by the understanding that her purpose had been served and that she was now a relic of a bygone era with no place in the modern world.

Kuro [ rival ]

Aka and Kuro have been at each other's throats since the day they met. At this point Kuro is the only person Aka can have a satisfying fight with. She trusts him to be on her level and she trusts him to be an absolute bastard. She feels she cannot be understood by anyone else as wholly as Kuro gets her, but also he's an asshole and a kin-slayer and she absolutely cannot stand him.

Kin [ boss ]

Kin's been the leader of the Iro since he charmed his way into achieving a functionally cohesive party. Aka's followed him to hell and back (literally) and will do whatever he needs done if explicitly ordered. She wonders if he's also lost aim in life or if he's really just gone off the deep end in his old age.

Cho [ subordinate ]

One of Kuro's subordinates who defected. Aka thought they were like-minded and treasured her, but then years later she tried to go back to Kuro. Aka refused, imprisoned her, and started a war. Cho ultimately agreed to stay in the Aka clan and Aka keeps a watchful eye on her.
