"Cathal may be prosperous, powerful, and almighty. But our home [Belvar] has no need for magic, even if they came from the kingdom. We have the knowledge to develop technology and brand new inventions; we don't need to rely on magic to take care of our everyday needs.

In fact, I feel like no mage should be living in Belvar. But I won't stop them. They may do as they please but they have no right to think so low of us."

Strengths

It's somewhat obvious as to who he is under the title of "Magekiller." Despite not being a mage, he's very knowledgeable in the subject of magic - solely to understand how to diffuse or protect himself from it.

Using his cane and any blade he fights close combat and a very balanced fighter. He is swift as he is strong.

Know how to read people's combative movement fairly quickly; hence why he usually lets the other swing first.

Him being a tailor as his new identity gives him deft hands.

Flaws

Him being a human doesn't protect him from any magic. Hence he has to use magic-imbued clothing and items to protect himself from the most dangerous spells.

He hates mages; having to trust one is rather hard for him no matter how nice they are. He's good at acting nice though.

Aiming is not his best, hence why he relies on his partner to handle the shooting.

Skills & Abilities

The Cane
The Magekiller's most trusted weapon and he keeps it at his side everywhere. Even in his sleep, he'll have it in his hand or under the pillows His cane being imbued with powerful magic is very contradictory when he uses it to disarm magic-users and kill them.

The Cane may look like a plain cane but it's crafted to have a hidden blade. Unsheathing the cane makes him one of the most deadliest swordsman in Belvar.

VengeFul Prowess
He's a fighter long before he married and had a child. But after his wife's death? He has a brand new reason to inflict major damage. Not only he's a skilled and experienced swordsman, he's a rather violent one.

Tailor's Armor
Not only his cane, but his outfit is imbued with magic as well to defend himself from any magical attacks, like a barrier in a way. He's bought a tremendous amount of cloth already imbued solely for the clothes he tailors to himself.

Trivia

  • His late wife is named Gwendolyn.
    > After her passing, he never bothered to pursue anyone else. He simply relies on his partner, Algy for any comfort or sexual relief. Although he's not sure whether or not they're in a committed relationship.
  • Has a daughter named Genevieve.
    > His greatest treasure and unfortunately his only weakness. His concern for her safety is at an all time high.
  • People still come to him for contracts regarding mercenary works. It's normal for him to decline them.
    > HOWEVER, he won't pass up the opportunity if his target is a mage.
  • It seems obvious right about now, but he hates mages. Or anyone that uses magic, really.
    > He won't act like it because he's kind, but any magic-user is immediately in the red when you're around him.
  • In the countryside and in private matters, he's Jack. However in the public, he's known as Ernest.
  • Wears high-waisted pants. Any pants lower than his waist (or at the half point) he will not wear or finds it uncomfortable.
  • He was a traveling mercenary/hitman before he married and settled back in his home in Belvar. After his passing, he will sometimes go on a break from his tailoring business and travel outside Belvar with his daughter.
  • Being upper middle-class makes him used to attending events and balls. Socializing and playing the game isn't necessarily his greatest, but he knows how to get around if he needed to blend in anywhere.

Summary

Jack Worthing was born in Belvar, living with a mildly prosperous and rich family. However, most of his parents' focus was more towards his elder brother, who was the almighty perfect individual in Jack's eyes. Because his parents didn't care much for Jack, he was able to do as he pleased... as long as it doesn't hinder the Worthing name.

He grew up with a fellow who was the same age, named Algernon Moncrieff. The Moncrieffs has been close with the Worthing family for generations and it's normal for him to connect one of the members. Being in the same situation regarding leading the family's name, they decided they'll leave their homes to wander the cities as they pleased.

It was the fact that the both of them never relied on using their family's name to earn a fortune. Instead they've used their skills as a fighter to earn a decent life. They've never expected themselves to become wandering mercenaries, let alone hired killers.

But the two of them wanted to be the best mercenaries. They spent years practicing their talents, and more importantly studied all kinds of people that would potentially be their enemies. This included the most dangerous kinds of people: Mages. What potentially made them become a legendary pair is the dozens and dozens of corrupted mages they've killed. Hence the title given to Jack: the Magekiller.

The Magekiller was known to be a gentleman who didn't spare a single mercy to his magic-using targets. The more mages he killed, the more he began to realize how cautious he needed to be around these users, and his viewpoint towards them was changing little by little.

Before he started looking down on all mages, he decided he was going to cease his work. He retired from being a "Magekiller" and settled himself into becoming a tailor. He married a wonderful noble woman named Gwendolyn and she gave birth to their first child, Genevieve.

He was expecting a peaceful retirement, but it ceased when he came home from his shop. His wife murdered by revengeful mages that lost their comrades to Worthing's hands. Thankfully his daughter hid from her mother's murderers, but traumatic experienced never left her mind. Now Jack was enraged by her death and he had immediately hunted the mages down, but their deaths never ceased his pain of losing the love of his life. And his partner, Algernon, also suffered the same fate and he could only feel the equal amount of pain and sorrow for him.

Jack couldn't help it. Every time he saw magic anywhere, he could only have the temptation of drawing his blade and cutting down any mage nearby him. Whether they had a good heart or they were corrupted, he hated every single mage that appeared before him.

The Heroes of Belvar

Worthing continues working in his tailor shop with his beloved assistant (and daughter) and often at times spending more and more time with Algernon, who also lost his late wife to the same fate. Both secretly accepting contacts involving "corrupted" mages, they find themselves accepting a rather risky one.

Supposedly their targets was one of the most powerful nobles in Belvar: Culus Zane. However they were intercepted by a butler and a wandering rogue. They've only realized that killing their target would only make the situation and the stability of ALL of Belvar even worse if the contract were to go through. Understanding the mistake and that Zane was nowhere near a mage, they ended their contract immediately. However the consequences of voiding the contract only made things worse in the long run, noticing that both Jack's and Algernon's children were kidnapped by an unknown individual.

With no possible leads regarding their children being captive, they had no choice but to confront Lucien. Realizing that their kidnapping involved the overall political situation in the city, both Jack and Algy joined a small group to prevent the high-noble corruption that had been going on for decades and end a civil war.

Relationships

Algernon Moncrieff

[ "Partner" ]

Jack most lovingly calls him "Algy". They've been friends since childhood due to being in the same situations regarding their noble homes. Unfortunately they also shared the same tragic past of losing their wives due to a group of vengeful mages. Worthing constantly seeks Algernon's comfort, in fact he fears that he's become dependent of his company. And typically, whenever he goes out to do something dangerous - Algernon must be by his side. However, Jack isn't necessarily sure whether or not they are in a committed relationship, especially when he finds Moncrieff coming home with an escort or two. He doesn't mind it, as long as Algy doesn't leave his side.

Azrael Cagliostro

[ Friend ]

Enthusiastic, bombastic, loud but rather fun to be with. Azrael managed to successful fend off both Jack's blade and Algy's bullets coming at him and since then he's been impressed with his fighting. He considers Cagliostro as a wonderful friend to work with, and he, of course, loves his cooking. Since they've successfully prevented Belvar's inner downfall, he rarely sees Azrael nowadays due to his busy schedule as the "Underruler" but it doesn't change his positive perspective towards this handsome rogue.

Lucien Belvedere

[ Friend ]

Lucien was the kind of individual that would get along with anyone. He's as kind as he is talented, and he wonders as to how a man like Lucien became a lowly servant. Jack sees an inner beauty in him and if it weren't for the fact that he's happily married (to his master), perhaps he would've found himself pursuing the butler and taking him as his lover. That is, if Algernon never knew about Jack's feelings. In regards to the aftermath of the whole civil war, he will sometimes find Lucien in the market and together will have a meal or two together and catch up on recent events.

Revere

[ Ally ]

Aside from Azrael... if there was anyone that can match his blade, it's Revere. He never expected a gorgeous man to be deadlier than Jack, let alone he's the most unpredictable man to read both in and outside of battle. He's fine with Revere's egotistical attitude, but Algernon being severely intolerable with it... it's become a chore to stop each other from strangling each other's necks.
