Strengths

His title as "Magehunter" isn't something people should think low about. His knowledge of magic is as much as an experienced mage and uses it against them.

He's a well-known craftsman that many high-esteemed nobles come for when it comes to the most beautiful gems and jewelry. However, he creates the most decorated (and very dangerous) weapons under the tables.

His eyes are sharp as his words. His aim is true and rarely misses a shot from his pistols.

A regular in salons and balls makes him a master at the Game. He knows how to play his cards right during a debate and his footwork at dances are also excellent.

Flaws

There's many thing that he's intolerable with, especially with people. Aside from mages, he easily finds himself arguing with very egotistical and selfish people.

He's not interested in being committed when it comes to relationships. He'll jump to one man or woman to another thinks very little when it comes to love. He thinks his love to and from his children is enough for him.

Skills & Abilities

Trigger Happy
Algernon crafted his own pair of twin pistols, in which he named after his children. And he knows how to aim his gun quite well. Not only he's got the eye to aim, but he pulls the trigger must faster than the normal gun user; like rapid-fire.

VengeFul Prowess
If one considers the Magekiller to be the violent one after the death of his wife, then they truly haven't felt the wrath of his partner. Algernon spares so very little to no mercy towards mages, and the death of his own wife is the only motivation to get rid of any magic-wielder.

Fight fire with Fire
Algy only wants to wear the clothes that he designed and made by Worthy. And every article of clothing made for him must be imbued with a magic to gives them a protection barrier from spells against him. Not only that, all his bullets are also imbued with magic that withstands most spell barriers.

Trivia

  • His late wife is named Cecily.
    > After Cecily's death, he tries to find other people to fill the void in his heart. Unfortunately, he's eventually given up finding that particular person and merely sleeps with them on a whim to satisfy his sexual desires.
  • Has twin children, a girl named Celia and a boy named Cecil.
    > He values them over anything in the world.
    > He also takes care of Jack's child, Genevieve. He also asks Jack to take care of his children whenever he is busy.
  • People still come to him for contracts regarding mercenary works. It's normal for him to decline them.
    > HOWEVER, he won't pass up the opportunity if his target is a mage.
  • Compared to Jack, his hatred towards mages is more straightforward and noticeable.
  • In the countryside and in private matters, he's Ernest. However in the public, he's known as Algernon.
    > Jack is the complete opposite (in public, Jack likes to be called Ernest).
  • Wears heels, even when he's fighting.
  • Being upper middle-class makes him used to attending events and balls.
    > He likes getting attention, and he knows how to socialize. This makes him fairly popular in different parties, but also infamous amongst people that try to compete against him.
    > Almost everytime he finishes attending a ball or a salon, he brings home an escort to accompany him all the way to his chambers.
  • He doesn't like making friends neither likes talking to people outside of his work, despite of how well he plays the Game in different social events. He claims that he only needs Jack.
    > Doesn't realize that Jack has feelings for him. Despite the amount of times that they've slept together.
    > In fact, if he's not attending any salons or balls, or he's at his store, 100% of the that extra time he'll be over at Jack's home to keep him company.

Summary

Algernon Moncrieff is the third child, who wanted to become the patriarch of his noble name. Unfortunately him being third in line made it impossible, but he still worked hard to upkeep the good title of his family. Since he was old enough to attend balls with his parents, he tried his damnest to become the star of the show.

Again, him being the third child made, especially when he grew older, his parents paid very little attention to young Moncrieff. However, a family that's been very close with the Moncrieff house brought him a longtime friend named Jack. And since the first day, Jack has been Algy's buddy. They've never passed up an opportunity to spend time each other, or it was usually Algy dragging Jack along to anywhere and everywhere. Until it was certain that his eldest brother were to take the Head of the household, he figured it was time for Algy to make a name for himself in other ways. At first he wanted to be a famous jewelry maker, but it was difficult to maintain a decent life (without the help of his noble family).

With little opportunity, he simply picked up a gun to take part of a mercenary guild alongside Worthing. During his hunting days, he realized that he was skilled with a gun and took this against his enemies to earn a living. He eventually left the guild with Jack when they've easily made a name for themselves - they were a wanted pair after successfully handled a group of powerful mages singlehandedly. At this point, all mages were being hunted down by Algernon, hence the alias "Magehunter." However, the longer he was defeating (if not killing) magic-users, it took a tool on Algy's mentality towards mages overall. Worthing, who was undergoing the same thing, suggested that they withdraw from their mercenary and assassination work before anything happened.

And so he did. He followed Jack all the way back to Belvar once again and he fell in love with a wonderful, daring woman that went by Cecily. She, too, was a noble. At first she was Worthing's lover at first but with the whole... awfully confusing events regarding their 'Ernest' name [Refer to The Importance of Being Earnest], Cecily turned her hand over to Moncrieff. Soon after their marriage, she gave birth to two beautiful twins - both named after their beautiful mother.

He wanted to stay like this for the rest of his life. Though, he was horrified when Jack lost his wife by a band of mages who wanted revenge against them. During his time for comfort, it wasn't long for Algernon to follow the same fate. He, too, lost his wife while she went out to attend a ball, the same group ended up tailing her mid-journey back to her house. Fortunately his twins were safe and sound at their home and was taken care by his servants.

Since that event, he thought that his frenzy against magic was over. Instead, his hate grew and grew progressively to a point that any notice of magic, he felt the need to wring the neck of any spell user. He decided to continue his contract mercenary work under his other alias as a jewelry-maker, but only if his targets were involved with magic.

The Heroes of Belvar

Algernon works his life as a jewelry maker, but also attends two different businesses under that: first business is creating a variety of very decorated (and dangerous) weapons, and second, accepting mage-related contracts for mercenary works and assassinations. It was only until recently, a strange, mysterious man came to both Algy and Jack to form a contract to dispose of Culus Zane, a nobleman belonging to one of the most powerful houses in the city - and claimed that Zane was a secret magic-user who used his powers to take advantage over servants that worked for him.

The stranger seemed trustworthy enough, or perhaps the two of them were just simply excited to get rid of a corrupted mage, thus immediately making their way to their target before being interrupted by an unfamiliar and powerful rogue that was capable of disarming the both of them. Before a death even occured, Lucien the Butler impeded the fight and explained the situation regarding the inner turmoil that's been going on in Belvar.

There was nothing wrong with believing in Lucien. Sparing both the butler and the rogue, Azrael, they voided the contract instantly. However, voiding the contract of killing Culus only made both Worthing and Moncrieff in an unsettling position, after coming home to see that their children are missing. With no plan or idea as to how to find their children, they immediately teamed up with Lucien and Azrael to stop the civil war - hoping that their children will be saved in the process.

Relationships

Jack Worthing

[ "Partner" ]

Worthing has been best friends with Algernon since they were children, and he hopes that it'll be forever. Because of losing Cecily, he loses all of his interest in pursuing a relationship with anyone else. This, unfortunately, includes Worthing despite not realizing it. However, whenever Jack shows interests with another individual, he gets surprisingly jealous and tries to steal him away. This, of course, ends up clashing with Jack. Although, despite no matter how many time they clash or argue, they end up mending their relationship so fairly quickly.

Azrael Cagliostro

[ Ally ]

He'll be blunt. Algy considers him annoying, but useful. Not only he's good at cooking, Azrael is rather quite the showman. He knows how to sing. He knows how to dance. Dancing, most especially, is what Moncrieff knows best and he needed bring Cagliostro to balls as his dance partner. Unfortunately Azrael is busy due to having a big responsibility after Belvar's political turmoil so they rarely get the time to have a party together.

Lucien Belvedere

[ Friend ]

Belvedere would be the closest individual that he could consider a "friend," aside from Worthing of course! Lucien is a kind man, both attentive as he is handsome (if not beautiful). He doesn't know about the butler's past, but Moncrieff has a feeling that Belvedere was once a noble himself. Whenever they see each other, Algy tries to pry into his background, hoping that he'll be right.

Revere

[ Rival ]

Aside from mages, Revere is the one man that Moncrieff cannot stand being around. Egositical, greedy, and very much rude. He can't see past his personality, despite his good looks superior fighting. And every word the duelist says, Algy always has something to say against it. Jack and the others always has to separate the two of them often whenever they meet.
