What a mood honestly, I had someone I trusted basically take a design from me and say 'I slightly changed it so its okay to use'. I got to a point that I was no longer comfortable with them using my design (even if slightly changed) and of all the people I thought would understand that using my stuff without permission sends me into a panic attack, they did it anyway. I basically felt forced to give them """"permission"""" to try and keep our friendship but I was an idiot for doing so and I regret it to this day. 8/

Had a whole Transformers character stolen from me because I "wasn't using them enough". Found out because they commissioned art from someone and the artist was notified the character actually belongs to me so they contacted me and gave me the art. The thief was a real lil shit about it and scammed the artist before they were even found out (the art was like, halfway done when they were found out)

Ive had mine atleast traced over, but im pretty sure a while back a friends sibling/cousin traced my art and also stole a character from me and slightly changed it and it sucks

One of my old sonas got like suuuper popular to the point where I had like 3 cases of people trying to make blatant ripoffs it was awful. :( it was mostly just kids so I tried to not get super mad at them and hope they grow out of it, but now there are so many adults who think it’s fine to steal now especially with the growing use of AI bullshit… the internet really hates artists huh 

Oh… jeez louise. Why??? I- these are the kind of people that make me want to hide my characters :( I just want to share them, so maybe they can inspire or bring joy to others, but these are the people that manage to ruin it for everyone. I don’t think any of my kiddos (designs) have been stolen yet, but I have a feeling it will happen. It just… yikes. This is why I don’t interact with fandom or try not to; theres always someone out there who will take the fun and joy out of it. The art community is unfortunately becoming one of those that I do not wish to be associated with. Everyone has been so tense, exactly as you said it. One time someone’s icon was literally drawn art of my character. I was so distressed. Thankfully Mods took care of it quickly as this was not the first time apparently.

Luckily none of my characters and designs was stolen (as far as I know) and most of my OCs aren't Toyhouse because I'm still figuring out them, but honestly if this happens to me I'll be react kindly just like you but I'd find the situation kinda... funny. Like "Dang someone wasted their energy to steal or copy one of my creations, like they could have used their energy for something better than that pff-"

Yeah I really don’t know what it is lately 😭 I still can’t get over someone saying on that they’d steal OCs if the person they made art hid/archived their OCs on an Art Fight confession blog like… HUH? Do you know how easy it is to just DM them?? If they weren’t anonymous I would’ve blocked them so fast 😭

It’s like a lot of these people are finding reasons and ways to justify stealing OCs too… Original owner was involved with drama and got called out for disgusting behavior? “Oh, their accounts are all closed and since they were a horrible person, I can steal their characters!” A person hides their characters on Art Fight? “Oh well I spent a lot of this time on this art so I’m just going to add an accessory, change the color, and post it as a new OC!!!”

Like honestly, even if someone is a terrible person, those OCs are still not yours to claim. Why would you even want their OCs 💀 LITERALLY just make your own?? Stealing OCs is shitty and uncreative as fuck lmao, if someone stole MY characters? I’d make sure they get taken down one way or another, I am NOT playing around with them 👹👹👹

Yeah god only once tho, I think it was 2018 I commissioned someone for art of my sona and when they posted the final on instagram some other account stole the image and tried to sell it as a design called Wolfie? Girlie was a dutch angel dragon
