Cas thinks of Pierce as a familiar face, the two have talked in detention a couple of times. He's even convinced Pierce to ditch detention and smoke weed with him, although memories of these smoking sessions are hazy to the two of them; they both must've gotten carried away. Obviously, Cas thinks that Pierce is a bit pretentious, and honestly a bit of an airhead - more so than Cas. However, she thinks that Pierce would do good in a different clique instead of the jocks, and that maybe he would do better in Cas's little group of misfits. She never really saw Pierce that happy hanging out with his friends. When you're an eccentric stoner, you tend to notice a lot of little things about everyone you see that many people gloss over.
Pierce has this sort of unexpected connection with Cas. Maybe that comes with their occasional deep conversations that they had during their occasional smoking sessions (which the both of them don't remember that well). He tries to be your typical jock and tries (key word: tries) to make fun of Cas, because he fits all the boxes of the typical person one would typically bully as a jock. Cas was 1. an outsider 2. idiosyncratic 3. somewhat of a nerd. And yet, Pierce fails every time. A jock and a troublemaker stoner is a bit of a peculiar combination, yet it works. Somehow.
Cas thought Archer was incredibly and scarily knowledgeable. Cas grows a bond with Archer throughout the course of the story, the two becoming very close friends by the end of it. She thinks he's very wise, and Cas slowly comes to realise that Archer is just like her — a weird nerd. A stupid outcast nerd who not many people like to be around, except for other weird nerds. That was probably why it was so easy for them to become friends.
To be quite honest, at first, Archer thought Cas was a little weird. Cas seemed out of it all the time, was weirdly nice all the time, and had this weird humour that would pop up out of nowhere in the most awkward of times. It was weird. But Cas eventually grew on Archer, and the two become incredibly close throughout the story.
They both like talking to each other about their respective crushes, and are practically each other's wingmen. The other three in the group, on the other hand, have no idea.
Dolly respects Archer, as deep down she knows that he was the only one who actually knew what he was doing, not her. She rants to him a lot, to which Archer usually only responds with blunt "Okay"s and blank expressions. The two gradually become more close, and open up to each other when they get chances to be alone.
Due to Archer's 'devil's advocate' nature, he is usually the one subject to Dolly's rants about how 'incompetent' she thinks the group is, when Archer knows Dolly was the incompetent one. There's not much to be said about Archer's opinion about Dolly, all you have to know is that if he were given the opportunity, he'd probably push Dolly into a pile of mud. Despite this, they have more of a frenemies relationship than anything.
Cas already has an initial dislike towards Dolly, but because of her natural friendliness (that comes with her being slightly high all the time), it's not very obvious. He doesn't like Dolly's bossy nature, often dropping very brutally honest comments about her during activities (which earns a lot of mutual dislike from Dolly). Although, Cas does notice that Dolly acts weird around her, so maybe he should stop.
Dolly dislikes Cas. That's not exactly surprising, she seems to dislike everyone she meets. She comments on every little thing Cas does, often complaining about how much she irritates her — to everyone else, Cas is probably the one that Dolly hated the most in the group. Her face flushes every time Cas spoke to her, her hands got all sweaty (from anger?) whenever Cas had to touch her in any kind of way for some activities, and whenever Cas laughed - god did Dolly hate her...
Lex knows Pierce. That's all she can really say. The two are part of the same 'clique' in school: The Popular Kids, which consisted of the sub-cliques of cheerleaders and jocks. This is usually the similarity the two bond over. Despite this, she doesn't know much about Pierce during their initial meeting, she knew he played football and dated Dolly, but that was it. She actually had a brief crush on Pierce when she first started cheerleading, but it was nothing more than a crush that eventually fired away into just recognising Pierce was attractive, but not feeling anything else for him. She thinks Pierce is a big loser, but hey, she's kind of a loser as well. That's the thing with "The Popular Kids", everyone at Pearlwig High thinks they're these perfect gods, when in reality kids like Lex and Pierce are actually huge losers and nerds just like everyone else.
Pierce respects Lex's role of head cheerleader, everyone (well, mostly everyone) does. He doesn't know her very well, only little things that he picked up on, as the cheerleaders tended to hang out with the football team during house parties. For instance, Pierce knows that Lex dyed her hair pink as a dare because it was actually one of his friends that dared her to do it. Pierce also knows Lex's older brother due to always seeing him at football games. He thinks he knows a bit too much about the strained relationship between Lex and her brother, as he often finds himself in situations where Lex's brother drunkenly rambles about their weekly fights and disagreements. But Pierce doesn't exactly know how to help. The two bond over their shared insecurities about being in the "Popular" group, and slowly grow more close.
Lex had a brief friendship with Dolly in kindergarten, although Lex doubts Dolly even remembers, considering the hatred Dolly has for her now. She isn't even entirely sure why Dolly hated her so much, she's been nothing but nice to her for the entirety of the time at the camp. In fact, she even tries to help Dolly when she can tell she was struggling at certain activities, but all she was met with were eyerolls and glares. Lex is beginning to think it's due to Dolly's own personal issues instead of Lex herself.
Out of the rest of the people in the cabin, Lex was definitely the second person Dolly hated the most. How was Lex so popular anyway? Dolly thinks Lex is a pretentious priss, who's only popular because she's head cheerleader. She especially hated it when Lex and Cas stuck together every time they had a group activity. Why were they always talking and getting way too close? It's slowing the group down, Dolly thinks...
Lex actually knows Archer a bit as he used to tutor her for Biology. Of course, since Archer was merely tutoring her, they didn't exactly initially have a 'friendship' happening. After 2 terms, Lex finally didn't need a tutor anymore and the two never interacted since then, not until they meet again at camp. Lex is relieved to see a familiar face of someone she kind of knew, that wasn't 1. someone she was crushing badly on 2. someone that hated her guts for no apparent reason and 3. some weirdo jock that she knew but didn't really know, you know? The two stick together and their friendship did not take long to set into motion, both of them already close after about 2 days due to already (kind of) knowing each other.
Archer already knew Lex, not very well as he was just her old tutor, but he knew her well enough to know that she was nice and therefore made her one of the ones he could tolerate the best in their cabin group. However, the two quickly become friends, with an unspoken "I know we both don't know each other that well but I will probably lose it if I don't have someone to talk to" alliance.
(Since Archer grows close with both Lex and Cas, he knows the two like each other. It's a bit of a hoot to watch him try to wingman the two at once. The three of them are like a little mini friend group that watch the drama from Dolly and Pierce from the sidelines.)
On the outside, it seems that Dolly has a burning hatred for Pierce, and practically avoids being near him, talking to him, or even looking at him. She dated Pierce for some time, they even became the school's "it" couple for a while, but broke up. Dolly was the one who initiated the breakup, simply saying it was for "her own personal reasons". On the inside, she never really hated Pierce, in fact, she knows he did nothing wrong. She was telling the truth, it was for her own personal reasons, but she didn't say what those reasons were. She's afraid that if she remained friends with Pierce, she'd have to tell the real reasons, and would much rather prefer not to - so instead, she masks it by acting like she hates him.
Pierce is still positively struck down by him and Dolly's breakup. Out of all the girlfriends he's had, his relationship with her was what lasted the longest. He really did genuinely love Dolly, and there may be some feelings still there, but now that they've broken up, he doesn't feel that strong attachment anymore. He still wants to be friends with her, but Dolly just won't budge. Pierce doesn't know what he's done wrong to get Dolly to hate him this bad, but he doesn't want to pry and ask - for now.
Pierce has never actually seen Archer at school other than at the camp. Okay no - that's a lie - he has seen Archer, just never really registered his presence or existence. He knows a lot of people, he's popular, faces start to blur in his head. He initially thinks Archer is a huge stubborn nerd, just like everyone else who meets him does, yet he slowly recognises Archer as just another moody teenager who plays up his strength to hide his feelings, making Pierce realise that maybe they aren't so different after all. Archer makes him new bubbly feelings no other girl he's been with had given him, making him wonder...what the hell was wrong with him?
Archer has never really liked Pierce. Not until he got to know him at least. He always thought he was a pretentious prick that would probably cry if he got beat up despite acting all tough. Archer used to like to fantasise about Pierce getting expelled, or getting in a comically bad accident that prevented him from doing his stupid sports. Archer didn't know why he had such a strong dislike towards Pierce, but when the two start getting close during this whole wreck, those feelings slowly died down, and transformed into weird mushy feelings that Archer would describe as "unnecessarily frustrating and warm."
Sapphire loves Cas, platonically of course! Once Maggie, their girlfriend, introduced them to Cas, they knew that they'd instantly be friends. They offered to dye Cas's hair one time, but Cas claims that he loves his natural ginger hair (although Cas does think Saph's blue hair colour would look great on her as well). Occasionally, Saph joins in on Cas and Vance's weekly weed sessions, despite not knowing Vance very well. It's very fun.
Cas usually goes to Sapphire for fashion advice, as Cas herself is pretty inept at making any fashion decisions. She's a part of Sapphire's DND campaign, Sapphire is incredibly patient at teaching Cas how to play. The two are very close, almost coming in tandem with Maggie.
Cas still has great feelings for Ellie, being as that she was his first real girlfriend, but the feelings now are purely platonic. She appreciates that Ellie stuck around as a friend, and that they didn't immediately abandon them when Cas saw their relationship would go nowhere. Cas also appreciates their friendship together doesn't make the entire friend group awkward. In conclusion, she still absolutely loves Ellie, just not romantically anymore.
Ellie has very complicated feelings towards Cas. They're both on good terms, but she never really knows what to say when they talk. Ellie still deeply cares about Cas. In truth, there's still some romantic attachment lingering in Ellie's mind, but they know better than to try and act on those feelings again. She wants Cas to be happy, and she knows that she isn't "the one" for him.
Maggie met Cas through a series of unfortunate events during a class they share together (Maggie volunteered to escort Cass to the deputy principal's office when he was caught high at school, seeing as Cas was too stoned out of his mind to get there by himself). This awkward first meeting was what catapulted their friendship, and the two quickly grew close. Maggie supports Cas with all her decisions (even the terrible ones).
Cas is extremely grateful for her friendship with Maggie, if it wasn't for her Cas would be in detention every week for not completing homework on time (she got put in detention every week anyway, but not for not finishing homework on time). Obviously, that isn't the only reason Cas appreciated Maggie. Maggie's extremely kind hearted and accepting of Cas's decisions, which is something that doesn't happen often to Cas, which is something he's grateful for.
Cas would trust Vance with all her secrets and problems, and (PLATONICALLY!) loves them dearly. They both consider each other their best friends and are absolute rascals when they're together. They both bounce off of each other in conversation and are each others' ride or dies.
Vance is a friend of Cas's and is actually one her closest ones. The two met at the school film club and became inseparable ever since. They have weekly (weed) smoking sessions in Vance's basement while venting to each other about their life problems (most problems they talk about are hardly ever serious problems and are usually just minor inconveniences.) He loves Cas (platonically of course) and would take a bullet for her, and is the ultimate wingman for him. Fun fact, he was the one who gifted him that lesbian pin he wears on her beanie all the time.
They care deeply for Dolly, and often worry about Dolly's mental wellbeing. Sadly, Etty and Dolly's parents don't really acknowledge Etty due to their disapproval of his whole "rock and roll" lifestyle, and put all the focus and pressure on their second eldest daughter, Dolly. Etty tries to be the guardian figure to Dolly that Etty never got to have growing up.
Dolly is Etty's younger sister, being the second oldest in the family. Juliet seems to be the only person Dolly truly trusts and loves. Dolly confides in Etty, often venting to them about her personal struggles, such as the pressure from the high expectations from their parents, and her own harmful perfectionism. She doesn't know why she finds it so difficult to open up to people other than her sibling, it's part of the long list of things she doesn't like about herself.
Jackie's first impression on Etty was a bit weird, he must admit, but he was very amused by how Jackie still thought about their awkward first meeting. Etty thinks Jackie is a fantastic band leader, despite the occasional outburst and many late nights where she'd make them practice and practice when the music didn't sound right. Etty knows when to draw the line with his loud energy, knowing that on some days, even during band practice, Jackie prefers to just play without excessive cheering.
Jackie first met Juliet when xe accidentally spilled coffee all over their jacket on the way home from school. Juliet swears that it was fine, but Jackie still feels bad about it to this day. She was drawn to Juliet's charismatic and energetic attitude, and invited him to join the band, and he happily accepted. Jackie appreciates Etty being the designated "big sister" of the group, despite not showing xer appreciation very well.
Etty at first immediately thought Nadia hated her, as whenever they tried to strike up a conversation Nadia would usually just nod without really responding. He then learned that it was just how Nadia was, and that she was naturally just very quiet with people that weren't Jackie. The two grew closer once they teamed up to write original songs for the group, which made Nadia grow more comfortable with Etty. Etty loves cheering Nadia on, and helps Nadia with her stage insecurities.
Nadia was at first a bit intimidated by Etty's loud nature, considering that she was practically the complete opposite of him. However, she began to get more comfortable once her and Etty began to work together to write songs for the band. Etty helps Nadia break out of her shell and to express herself more on stage, Nadia appreciates them a lot.
Jackie is Nadia's closest and bestest friend. They both grew up together and are inseparable. Nadia confides in Jackie with everything, and would trust her with her life. When Jackie has outbursts, Nadia's the first person the band turns to to calm Jackie down. Most people are surprised when they find out they're best friends, as their personalities are completely different from each other, and Jackie sounds like someone Nadia would hate.
Nadia is Jackie's closest and bestest friend. They are both longtime childhood friends. Jackie is one of the only people who can get Nadia to feel comfortable, and to get her to speak more. They both help each other work on themselves and wouldn't be where they are now without the other.
Lex took a very long time working out her feelings for Cas, as she had never explored her sexuality before. At first, she regardered her feelings for Cas as nothing but feeling very strongly compelled to be friends with him, which in her head, perfectly explained why she got so nervous and flustered after shaking her hand during their first proper meeting. Perfectly explained why whenever Cas walked into the room she'd instinctively fix her hair and touch up her lipstick. It was all totally normal! (not) Despite Cas being the one who developed feelings first, Lex fell even harder for Cas.
Lex's journey to being comfortable with her bisexuality and her feelings for Cas being a long, hard, emotional journey, she couldn't ever be happier that she went on it. Her relationship with Cas is probably the happiest relationship she's been in. Cas has been the first ever person to genuinely make her feel the butterflies in her stomach like how the books describe it, been the first ever person to make her trip up her words, been the first ever person to make her feel giddy when smiled at. Lex adored Cas, and wouldn't change a thing about him at all.
Cas first developed his crush on Lex when they both spoke (very briefly, it was a throwaway interaction that a normal person would probably forget about after a few minutes) about the weather outside. Lex's memory of this event was probably hazy. It was a stormy day, so stormy that many students had to wait a while when school ended for the rain to die down. They both were sat next to each other in the hallway seats. This little conversation was enough for Cas to fall head over heels in love with her.
The Camp Honeyhouse storyline takes place a year after this interaction occurred, Cas and Lex didn't speak again in that time frame. However, Cas's feelings grew and grew. The two officially met at camp, as they both properly introduced themselves to each other. This solidified Cas's crush on Lex.
When Lex confessed to Cas about having a possible crush on him, Lex did not seem entirely sure what to think, and that if her feelings were truely romantic at all. Despite a part of Cas feeling very obviously heartbroken at the fact that Lex may not even like her, Cas understood Lex and helped her with coming to terms with these feelings.
Cas would do anything for Lex, Lex just had to say the word. If Lex asked him for help with her homework, he would say yes in the blink of an eye. If Lex asked him to help choose what to wear, Cas would say yes, even though he knew his sense of fashion was god awful. Hell, if Lex asked her to help her hide a body, you know damn well she'd accept happily.
