this is a world that monsters and humans have inhabited for centuries, though to say they've had trouble getting along is definitely an understatement.Β
monsters have existed in many shapes and forms long before humans ever came to form civilizations or complex societies. to put it simply, they haveΒ
been here since the beginning. to humans, however, they have always been creatures of the imagination- something to fear or be in awe of. take all
of the literature about vampires: their lives are either romanticized or painted as divine punishment for one's carnal sins.
over the past couple of years. tensions have only intensified between these two groups. while there are factions on both sides who support livingΒ
in harmony,Β they don't detract from the very vocal minority of extremists who believe all monsters or all humans should be exterminated. granted,
i am more sympathetic to the "monsters against humans" camp. monsters are more likely to face social and political persecution, they have been
and continue to be discriminated against by humans... it ain't an easy life!
while many monsters have human forms or are themselves half-human, humans refuse to acknowledge this. nonetheless, many monsters,
particularly those who can assimilate in some fashion into human life, choose to do so. they go to school, they own homes and are valuable
parts of their community. but they are seen as valuable because they present as human, not for any other reason.
as these "regular folks" attempt to navigate their lives, there are powerful forces both human and demonic who want the cards to be
played in their favor. will humans continue to subjugate their monster counterparts? will monsters rise up against generations ofΒ
oppression to finally taste freedom and begin to heal? the world continues to spiral out of control, but the relationships these
monsters have with each other will be what determines their fate.
