Ohh boy I'm doing this whoo boy. Whoooo boy.

I had previously written + priv'd a bulletin ab this. I'm of clearer mind now but this has still been a constant bother, and I feel the need to say one last thing about this

Creator and youtuber Rainbott has a project called "Spellmania" which features rip offs of my OCs and IDRK what to do about it other than to post this bulletin asking them to stop + making people aware this was done without my consent or approval.

For context; I originally approved of First and Day inspired pony ocs. Only Day and First, only in the context of the story they showed me; they turned those ponies into dogs and then proceeded to rip off X after we mutually blocked each other.

It's hard to describe how I know this oc is a rip off, at first glance it might not seem so but seeing as their entire cast mimics the cast of Audience and they would confess to me in DMs they really just wanted to write Audience fanfiction... yeah.

Normally I don't really care ab rip offs, it's just the decency of this one and the fact this person whom I've had blocked for years and who belittled my creative ability on calls and dms is actively ripping off a hella expensive OC i own. It's the principal and I can't keep pushing back posting this.

https://toyhou.se/~bulletins/1814607.public-again

This was the bulletin I made and hid, it's public again and explains what happened if not a bit emotionally-

Our friendship was toxic; but other than the screenshots in the bulletin above it is a really sore topic for me and I don't wanna delve into it. Not to mention my memory of the time is so hazy that I doubt I could anyways.

I genuinely don't wanna be making this. I feel awful about it. And I don't wanna act like a victim, because I'm not even sure I'm in the right sometimes.

Business has been going well, I've felt accomplished with my work for the first time in a long time lately. But I feel constantly sick just remembering all... of everything. And sometimes remembering what they said and how they treated my work makes me want to quit altogether and so I'm posting this last explanation for it all and why I don't wanna be associated

At least if I'm in the wrong I'll be told that and it'll all become clearer and I can move on... right?

When I first saw their Spellmania on yt, I had no clue that they made rip offs of others ocs. I seen the character Pleasie and it looked a lot like Please, but I thought nothing of it since I thought they own Please at the time. Now that I look back at it, they ripped off Please, the only difference is her tail not being long and her hair not being long.

Still disgusted that they took a very old design of mine and edited it to be a rip-off :/

Like?? OG Below for example. WAAAAY too changed for my liking too (never even consented to it being heavily redesigned.)  Bro wasn't even BASED off X! Dude was based off the song Soft Fuzzy Man. 😭dhcarn5-64fc69ad-6802-4155-a926-44dac078

It hella irks me that they even own my design and wish they didn't! :')

Glad I caught this since I'm never online anymore and I really should comment on what they did. I must admit I'm very naive sometimes about people's intentions. They had found me through originally owning ashbone and then wanted to do a design trade so I was never paid for this in the first place. They tricked me by asking to redesign an old oc that had skull like markings but I'm unsure if they were lying since they "lost" the original art. She was to be related to Noir so I used him as inspiration so in the end I hadn't even realized it lead to a similar ashbone design. Normally I'm not bothered at all by inspired designs, I'm okay with it actually but I'm not okay with them going around and not being honest up front with it. I won't hold anything against them personally but this is very uncomfortable and I would like them to at least acknowledge their actions.

I designed Noir, Solo, and Telly as commissions a few years back. I recognized the similarities but made them distinct enough from my own characters to be comfortable. At the time, their story proposal seemed fairly unique and detached from Audience - at least, the parts they explained to me. They were really kind and I thought they'd moved past their phase of too-similar OCs since they were just a kid when they originally wanted to try to reboot Audience. I'm sad to see that they fell back into that even years later, and worse, caused so much emotional distress.

Yikes.... Thats.... So frustrating I'm so sorry you have to deal with this...the fact that they're being SO open about ripping characters off and the fact that they're "remaking" an already existing story ? this is all really embarrassing...

if they are reading this: If you want to improve on story design or character design/traits this is not it, don't.. All these skills take practice to hone and ripping off stories and characters isnt going to get you anywhere, its lowkey on the same level as tracing some ones art recoloring it and claiming you did 100% of the work. apologize, learn to build stories and characters that are unique and your own and do better.

I dont typically engage with callouts ever bc a lot of them can be handled between people privately, but i feel like i should add my own experience because i think a lot of peoples initial reaction would be to say "the designs are visually different enough" which yes is true but its more the intention of their actions n the way they go about it that is just so mean spirited and bad faith its Weird. And i think its genuinely an issue for someone with such a large platform be so open about just blatantly trying to manipulate people into giving them free labor and characters they want, bc they have a lot of young fans and that gets weird fast.

I'd say about 2 years ago they contacted me via instagram DM's telling me they love my stories and ocs and how theyre a big fan of my stuff (they do not follow me on any website btw). They asked me about getting a $5 commission and said something along the lines of "if i dont reply back, its because i ran out of budget" because at the time they were getting their friends to make an animated series with them, and implied that they need to save money to pay them. This isnt true by the way lol the first few episodes were made completely for free and i knew this, so them immediately lying and telling me in advanced that they would essentially ghost me in regards to the commission was really weird to me, but not inherently "problematic".

the issue is that it became clear very quickly that the reason they were messaging me was to use the topic of commissions as an excuse to turn the convo over into asking about if i'd ever take offers on certain ocs. they are very notoriously obsessed with the work of lupisvulpes who was a popular animator and like other people have mentioned before they are like super parasocial to lupis' cancelled animated project which they keep trying to recreate themselves. they asked me if i would consider selling off the human design i made for this lupis design here https://toyhou.se/4925878.sorrow   a common tactic of theirs is to not directly ask for the oc itself but will wither pressure you either co-own the design or in my case, will see one piece of artwork of the character that is slightly different from the original design and ask you to split it off as a completely different oc for them to have. That way they can feel like they have the real one and use it as such. i can confidently say that if i were to have sold off his human alt design they would have created their own dog version of it, which, i know they would have made it look identical to the canine version bc the human version already has all the same clothing and fur markings. much like snakepitzz issue below me where they have a split of their oc and plan to redesign it to look like the real one.

and as you can imagine. when i declined their offer to sell whats basically just a single image of my oc to them, they of course didnt ever message me back about the commisson they apparently wanted super bad. bc it was never their intention in the first place. and its just the fact that they had this whole tactic planned up that leaves a bad taste in my mouth about it all. Not even just asking to offer on a character like a normal person, you have to lie and beat around the bush about it. strange.

Normally oc disputes arent a public issue like this but its the fact that they come to you and try to suck up to you and pressure people into essentially sharing their expensive ass ocs with them that it really worries me the kind of shit they are saying to their teenage fan base. the fact that they tell you that youre "sooooo cool and soooo awesome and you should totalllyyyy give me permission to have a copy of your oc because theyre soooo coooolll or you can design me a copy of it yourself and its ok because you gave me permission!" if you dont think they wont pull this same behavior on their fans to keep trying to pressure ppl into giving them free shit then idk what to tell you. its fucking weird man

i want to second this one - this is what got their toyhouse closed down, actually. i remember seeing their youtube video about it too. basically they thought they could 'reclaim' the character by making it their own, despite the fact this is someone's OC and not some public domain creepypasta character, and went as far as to edit old art of the original OC into the new one. they uploaded the new 'key' design onto toyhouse, it got taken down, they reuploaded it while waiting for the mod to respond and got their account closed over it. i don't believe this was the ONLY reclaimed character, just the most popular one.

they then ranted about it on the end of one of their youtube videos and basically called for their fanbase to harass toyhouse staff until rainbott got their files back. i remember commenting saying this was a really bad idea, and that they were at fault , but it seems my comment was deleted.

by the way, they still "own" the stolen oc and keep editing art, it's just hosted offsite now.

like rainbott with like multiple designs has gotten like "permission" so incase people would throw a fit, like rainbott could act more innocent and be like "Well I got permission and it was okay with the owners of the original designs currently!"

When like with multiple it was like coerced & done unhandly with bad intentions and manipulation which nullifies that "permission" given part

It's not that hard not to rip off ocs wtf

some extra stuff

I was the original owner of the oc here that looks like an X ripoff. I bought it on DA from the designer, and it did not look anything like this. It had no clothes or anything. The designer was never contacted about Rainbott editing THEIR ART. It was done without their permission! Yeah. They didn't even reach out to see if it was OK to edit someones art, AND made them into a ripoff of their ex friend's character.

I just wanted to step in and say this because in my opinion it makes it worse. I do not want the designer (even if they are blurred out here) to be held "responsible" for making the design when it looked nothing like this to begin with. Here's the original adopt image if you want to add it to the bulletin Jam https://www.deviantart.com/stash/01e27lud6y0g they were based on the song "Soft Fuzzy Man" by Lemon Demon.

They really do not deserve the platform they've been given, the way that they worm their way into so many fandoms... I've seen them on ponygram too and it's always rubbed me the wrong way :/ I truly hope they get what's coming to them and it's brought to light just how awful they are

sorry you are going through this jam :( u have my support

i can definitely understand why this would be uncomfortable, and dont think youre in the wrong--if youre not happy with it then you have a right to ask it to stop. theyre your ocs, and if the intention was to rip them off, youre allowed to not be okay with that

i actually found their yt channel earlier today (before i saw this) and they mentioned some of these ocs (not specifically the ones based on your ocs, just in general) so considering theyve literally talked about it, i fully believe you

rainbott is a fucking content vulture and you do not and did not deserve to deal with them. im so sorry man :( i hope this can get resolved somehow

Rewriting what we had tried to say on the other bulletin but it didn't go through. but this one will probbaly be shorter cuz we barely remember everything we wrote.

You didn't deserve to go through this, and you're allowed to feel hurt along with informing people about how rainbott has betrayed your trust, and just hurt you with all this.
And like always know we're pretty free to talk whenever about most things, we're just very much hermit crabs

I'm too stupid to understand what's going on but I hope everything is alright ☹️
