I've also run into stupidity over the WW2 thing, which is why I don't post my WW2 OCs. It SHOULD be common knowledge by now that owners/writers don't support Nazi Germany but logic fails to reach at times.

I second everything beetle said as well. Sections for themes/time periods would be great. Places for folk to share their arts and all that and a general discouragement of political talk since people don't know how to be adults about different opinions this day and age.

That's understandable and sadly true. Though I handle things from the POV of the Allies I have a know your enemy mindset so I do occasionally read stuff from Nazi Germany. I've had people get shitty with me for similar reasons when I've brought Luftwaffe pilot biographies and books dealing with how the Germans fought against the Allied night bombers for plot research. I've also had people get funny when I say I like German WW2 drama like Generation War and Napola/Before the Fall even after explaining that both extremely ant-Nazi and anti-war.

I don't want people to feel excluded or like they can't post certain characters, I've also seen some interesting material come out of writing from a German Army pov. I feel like discouraging political talk would be the way forward and a solution for that question for handling German WW2 OC's. That and it's very tiresome dealing with people who can't agree to disagree so it's something I will be jumping on and nipping in the bud as soon as I'm able.

I like that idea of different periods so if I went through with making the server it's something I'd put in for sure!

All interesting stuff. :! The problem is virtue-signalling is like a pasttime online for most anymore.Eventually folks will catch on. Horrible shit happens all throughout history and it's hypocritical to get up in arms over one just because it's one of the most recent. No logic...

Anyways, it sounds like you have a good vision, let us know what you decide and we'll be the first to join <3

That's very true. I think to make this server comfortable for everyone and keep drama relating to German WW2 OC's in particular to a minimum, attempts at bringing up political, social justice and religious topics would go straight to final warning and dragging it up again after a warning would be an instant block boot. Hate speech and discourse aimed at LGBT+, religious and ethnic minorities is an instant block boot. For now that's best I can come up with to help keep the actual fascists out whilst also keeping those virtue-hunting folk going after people with German WW2 OC's out too. I'm not sure if it's too extreme or not firm enough though?

In regards to splitting by historical periods thinking of pinching a similar filing system to a DA group I'm in. It'd be along the lines of ancient history, medieval, renaissance, 1600's, 1700's, 1800's, 1900's, WW1, inter-war period, WW2, 50's-60's and 70's-80's.

Is there anything else you'd want to see in such a server? I'm 100% open to further input.

I got the discord up and running, here's a link if you're interested! https://discord.gg/jbhSff

Sorry for not getting back, have been asleep & doing other stuff. As to your first message, you come across just fine so don't worry! It isn't an issue at all.

A three strike system is a good idea and if it already has an established system at work it would probably be the easiest thing to implement. I also support discouraging the political talk and agree with the WWII thing; have also witnessed some of that distaste first-hand and it's a great shame, but I have a feeling that it hopefully won't be a large issue (if any at all), and that staying on top of it would probably dampen it into nonexistence on its own tbh. Basically summarising myself with the same stuff Smooshkin said: the ideas are a very solid ground to get started with something and I love the sounds of it so far

No worries!  I'm glad of that, I'm worried about how my tone comes off when I write.

Essentially the system I would use would go down like this:

1 strike = first offence. A warning with an explanation of where the rule breaking occurred.
2 strikes = 2nd offence and final warning. A repeat explanation of where the rule breaking occurred that's resulted in a final warning as well as a reminder this is a final warning before a block boot.
3 strikes = Block boot. It will be explained why that person is being kicked from the server.

I'm drafting up a rule set and server info and server set-up at the moment, would you mind if I sent you a copy to glance over?

The strike system sounds good to me tbh and I wouldn't mind that at all; I may not be able to get to it for a few hours while I sleep but should be able to read it somewhere within the next 12 hours or so if that's ok

As for the OCs, I think the rulesets are fair enough too, without being too soft or firm. I'd agree with the greater need for policing those specifics and I think it sounds good personally.

I had the same format in mind myself, but specific to named eras rather than a mix; I love the idea of organising it like that, helps broaden the topics within and makes folks comfortable.

At the minute any ideas completely escape me except for general creativity sections (prompts, fun and games that can include all characters etc.) but that's a whole other hurdle that I don't know much about myself, though you could snag ideas from the Toyhouse forums for that I think. Another idea might be masterlists for each period; sources on particular events, general life, and anything else of the era such as fiction/media about it; because I think that that would make the server snd community miles more accessible for any and all walks. I'll give it a think overnight and see if anything comes to mind! Sorry for the garbles, bit tired already.

It works pretty well at work so hopefully it'll make moderating the server easy since that way everyone knows where they stand. Thank you for the feedback and no rush, I understand timezones and irl can get in the way.

I really like the idea of having period masterlist like that though I feel like that'd need some collaboration and input from other folks in the server. Maybe also suggested reading for folks not sure where to start with research into those periods? I'm awful at coming up with prompts so maybe that could be something that's opened up to the server and folks in can suggest prompts? Could be both lit and art challenges that's low pressure stuff folks could take or leave. I'll def go over games forum and see if there's anything that could be put into the server.

Stuff I drafted for rules so far is under the cut.

All skill levels are welcome here. As long as you're respectful to those in the server and the subject matters you deal with, we're good!

Disclaimer: This server deals with ideologically sensitive material pertaining to past conflict including WW1 and WW2. By asking to join the server you agree you are comfortable with being exposed to such content.

This server operates on a 3-strike system.
1 strike = first offence. A warning with an explanation of where the rule breaking occurred.
2 strikes = 2nd offence and final warning. Again, an explanation of where the rule breaking occurred will be given as well as a reminder this is a final warning before a block boot.
3 strikes = Block boot. It will be explained to you why you have been kicked from the server.

General rules:
1) No LGBT+ phobia. No Ace/Aro discourse. This is a LGBT+ friendly space. LGBT+ creators and content are welcome here.
2) Server is 18+ only. You MUST be comfortable with listing your age or stating you're 18+ or 20+ to gain access to the server.
3) NSFW is allowed but the parties involved MUST be over the age of 18. NSFW work must be kept into the appropriate channel.
4) No political (including Brexit) and/or religious discussion/debates. Likewise, this server is not a place to discuss Social Justice issues.
5) WW2 German OC's ARE allowed and welcome within the server but please understand that:
Actual fascists will be yeeted. This is not a space for you to promote far right politics. See rule 4.
Discourse over German OC's will not be tolerated, it should be a given their owner does not share their OC's political beliefs or indeed that the OC themselves may not agree to Nazi ideals.
6) No ship drama or discourse. If someone OTP's your NOTP, agree to disagree. A/N: I'm not sure how intense ship wars/drama is in historical fiction/war drama, fandoms since rn I only read fic for the 2017 Dunkirk movie but seeing as I have seen a bit of ship discourse in the Dunkirk fandom I figured it'd be safe to put something up to account for the possibility of it being an issue.

Straight to final warning:
Attempts to start political/religious/social justice debate. See rule 4.

Automatic block boots:
1) Lying about your age to access the server and the NSFW channel.
2) Hate speech or discourse aimed at LGBT+, religious and ethnic minorities.
2) Art/OC theft. Must be backed up with solid evidence if caught happening within the server.
3) Posting artwork/content depicting pedophilia and incest.
