Sorry I've been afik been figuring out how discord works and starting to put this server together. It's been so long since I last went on discord it took 30 mins to get past the updates lmao.
That's how I did it in the end. I made a channel for folks to ask for help if they're not getting anywhere with google and need pointing in the right direction, I've also split it by period after that. Ended up using channel groups so it can be collapsed down out of the way.
I'll def consider the idea, it sounds like I'm being difficult and resisting the suggestion but I am reluctant to put art/writing rewards in place just yet purely because I am planning to go to uni next year and idk how much that'll affect my activity and energy levels for drawing, especially since it is a largely practical course. I think the best thing would be to see how things go then go from there! That does sound interesting so I will look into doing something like that. Would probably be best to wait until there's more members before putting on an event like that.
I decided to split BDSM and kinks that are allowed into it's separate channel away from the general NSFW channel. Both are agelocked channels that (hopefully) you'd have to ask to opt-in/opt out as I've seen another channel do. I've also put a note in the NSFW rule that by asking for kinky-nsfw category means you consent to seeing BDSM related content.
I've also broken the server down into categories so we have:
general which covers rules, intro, general chat, fandom, suggestions/feedback and help center.
Art share, broken down by periods. Also includes a section for sharing OC profiles, sharing stories/fic snippets sharing WIP's and sketches, story related stuff and requests for feedback.
Resource and media recs, again broken down by periods + channel to ask for help writing historical fiction OC's.

Aye it is a shame but I've seen so much of it on the front page of FA I thought I'd better account for it.
The server's almost ready to go I just need to figure out how to set the nsfw servers so they're invite only.

You're fine, don't worry! I can see how it might be a bit of a chore when the community is small (getting to show off OCs and one's own art/writing/etc. is motivation enough to do prompts anyway tbh), especially if you're busy yourself. Could be worth noting for later and seeing if you can take some sort of poll on it from the people in the server when it busies up.
Nice, that's a good idea! the layout you have for the channels sounds good, though tbh I'm somewhat confused by how the periods are laid out, but then I think that we would have had different visions for how it might work. I suppose it'd be easier to make sense of to see it, it sounds fantastic overall though and can't think of anything that would need adding or removing without other third-party feedback

afaik the only/easiest way to do that would be by creating a role specifically for the nsfw channel and restricting access to everyone from posting/reading in it; there's a post here that explains how to do it if this helps you figure it out (presuming you haven't yet but I apologise if you have)

I just figured it was easier for folks to pick and choose what they want to see. In the suggestions channel I've logged some of the stuff you've suggested in the suggestions channel as a reminder. I also wondered about an art fight like event within the server where people could trade art or fics but that'd probably require a larger base to work.
That's very true, I'm def guilty of taking the chance to talk about my OC's when I can that's part of why I enjoy the character discussion forums here so much. :'D

Totally fair; I like the art fight idea for when things got busier though, those are very popular and might even end up somewhat of a driving force to server activity too if implemented. If it isn't in suggestions already it'll be worth adding.
