Comments on My Skeb experience... All Comments

Oh goodness, I'm sorry this happened to you. In addition to being OOC, getting sexualized art of your character when you didn't ask for it is nightmarish.

In my head I always know you can be burned by Skeb but in my heart I sincerely hope it doesn't happen to anyone I know... >< In all likelihood, the artist did rush it and didn't read the details of your request, maybe they just looked at the visual reference and did whatever. I hope nobody ever does this again...!

Sorry for the late reply, mise!

Ngl it does make me uncomfortable, but will this incident make me stop using Skeb? Of course not.

You've been really helpful to me too with my Skeb questions, mise. So at least I'm really thankful for that ;;v;;

But of course I wouldn't want to commission that artist again. Because not only I've specified and give the visual references of his existing outfits, the result is still one huge fashion bomb orz.

Like it works if it's in bits of pieces of clothing, but all of it? It's just too much that it does not work.

I'm praying it won't happen to any of us in the future. But I think I've seen something like not matching your request happened to you twice, I believe? If you're comfortable on sharing your experience, would you like to talk about that? :o

No worries! I'm very glad to be of assistance to you, and I hope you only get good results from Skeb from here on out! ><;;

Yeah, there's sometimes some errors and wonkiness in skeb art that you can fix in 5min in photoshop, but sometimes so much is wrong that it makes me feel like, "is it worth it to change?" and it  feels like you wasted your money, orz... but hopefully you and your friend can do some edits like you mentioned!

I have no problem sharing my experiences! In 2 similar cases, they were both artists who were inexperienced with skeb (one had 0 works and the other only had 1 other work), and skeb was gaining in popularity but it wasn't as huge as it is now. I used to only put my character reference in the "reference URL" field instead of just in the request body itself, and all that does is add on the URL to the end of your request.

So I had my desired pose/bg/etc + the character reference in that order. In both cases, the artist would draw the exact correct pose/bg, but with like... some random character and not the OC I linked. I did DM them about this because I cared less about the rules then, and in both cases they were like "oh whoops I did not look at the link that you posted." I was like ??????????

In one case, the artist did redraw the character to be my OC and the other one just ghosted me after they said they would redraw it DX

Since then, I always make sure to post the character reference near the top of the text body and make sure to clearly say that I want the artist to draw the linked character and not some random one LOL.

And there's also some cases where I've had the delivered art I got be nowhere near as good as the artist's other skeb works  and it makes me feel like they didn't like my character and rushed the request. To be honest, I would prefer they just rejected the request if they didn't feel good about the character :') but that's just commissioning for you, sometimes you get great ones and sometimes you get meh ones. (this got long orz)

I'm so sorry that happened to you, honestly hhhhhhhh

I'd hate to be left and ghosted like that-And when our request gets accepted only to made it as a rushed order. With skeb, it really is a hit-and-miss sometime huh-(Or a grab bag as you called it). Tbh I'm naive because I was thinking with Japanese people, since their work ethic is high, I thought that they would take orders seriously (especially if they're freelance and not animators/mangaka who gets tighter deadlines). So I was like "hhhhhhhhhh" when I heard your experience and when the same thing happened to me orz

I guess it all depends on someone's work ethic and personality.

But I'm happy for you that it hasn't happened ever since then!

Also haha it's okay even if it gets long! it just means I got a genuine response from you and that makes me happy! Thanks for sharing with me, mise!!
