Minors drawing NSFW, yay or nay?

So i had a discussion with a friend about this topic recently and would just be interested in other peoples opinions on it and their reasoning behind them.

In my opinion this sort of thing is not a big deal, minors can have sex so why shouldn't they draw it? And drawing gore seems like no big deal to most people so why should some dicks mentally scar them? Of course they shouldn't be pressured into drawing NSFW and not use themselves as a refrence (would that be considered child pornography?) but having an interest in lewd art is nothing too out-of the ordinary for a teenager. Do you agree/disagree?

Another thing is minors offering NSFW Commissions buuut i'm not sure yet how to feel about that so... yeah. Opinions?

Minors are gonna draw nsfw art - that's fine. But I don't want it posted where I can see it, sorry. It kinda edges on child pornography in a very uncomfortable way. I think that it should be kept in a space where adults aren't looking at it and where it isn't posted public - I will 100% always be against minors offering or taking NSFW commissions from adults.

There is no problem with people underage engaging in nsfw content but this shouldn't be happening with adults. Ever. It's normal for people to be experimenting and trying stuff out - I think a lot of people lie about their age at one point or another (I know I did when I was under 18 - said I was older to get into sites I shouldn't have). But as an adult I am deeply uncomfortable being around people who are minors when it comes to nsfw content or material and especially am not wanting content produced by them. I also really really really don't want to talk about minors having sex.

Gore can be a different story, depending on what type of gore but again it kind of edges on what type of gore we're talking about and what level. There are things that I've seen that I really wouldn't be comfortable with someone who is very young viewing. Candy gore is a whole lot different than hyper realistic torture porn.

I mean I'd rather they didn't, but eh if they aren't sharing it anywhere or with any adults I guess I have no reason to give a shit. But yeah the second they think "I'm gonna post this publicly" they should be stopped. Cause yeah while I'm just not wanting to be a part of anything to do with that, creeps are the exact opposite. It's no secret that some minors are looking at NSFW shit, but they should do it in a way that's not opening themselves to creeps.

And definitely gonna give a big fat no to NSFW commissions from minors. It's just nasty to think about buying porn from a minor and then just, how they are opening themselves to creeps, and now money is involved and just ugh, no don't do it.

So in short if you are a minor who drew NSFW keep it to yourself and be careful out there.

Not sure if you're merely remarking on the ability or if you're  referring to legality - because in California that's illegal (some  states in the US have ages below 18, and under certain circumstances  like Romeo & Juliet laws, etc.) but where I am, minors are not  supposed to be having sex.

I don't know about the laws in america as i am from germany but it's legal in most countrys. Personally i don't think that there's anything wrong with teens experimenting but that's another can of worms that i don't really want to open in this thread.

Thank all of you guys for your interesting takes on the topic so far and i think i do agree with minors not doing NSFW Comissions, or if they do at least only for other minors (even though proving that miiight be a bit difficult). I'm looking forward to what other people might want to say on this topic.

There is certainly nothing wrong with teenagers experimenting safely with nsfw stuff (like art, lit, etc.) - it's normal. That was said a few times. But the problem is when children start sliding into adult spaces and doing this. It becomes dangerous for them as well as difficult for adults if it isn't made clear that certain individuals are minors - I've been in situations before where people didn't make it clear that they were underage until after the fact and it was INCREDIBLY uncomfortable, unfair to everyone and really not alright.

NSFW commissions and using refs of themselves - bodies which are underage and thus considered child pornography - is something I have a hard NO on and will not budge on. Ever. Even with other minors because again it treds on pretty close illegal material and gets kind of dangerous when people become not minors themselves. I completely understand being young and wanting to experiment and wanting to grow as a person and get to understand these types of things -- but this doesn't always need to be broadcast to the greater public and potentially put people at risk. That's what it can do -- both minors and adults in this situation, depending on how things go.

minors may draw whatever they like- when it comes to america, drawings nsfw of themselves, and offering nsfw commissions, and sharing or receiving any nsfw of any kind, is illegal. the first is considered child pornography, the others are illegal for another reason idr. nsfw cant be shared w/ minors- its why porn sites and explicit fanfiction ask if ur 18+. idk they might actually be able to share it but it might come too close to the like. 'dont talk abt ur masturbatory habits' kinda thing, since it may be considered sharing sexual details? which i think is illegal, idk i get fuzzy at that point

but when it comes to personal, private works, idc. id rather they draw their ocs gettin it on then illegally access porn sites, u know?

I feel like minors drawing sexual art allows for them entering a space where they don't belong. NSFW spaces are, or at least SHOULD, generally be 18+ spaces. If a minor is posting sexual art and such it opens up the gate for them to be in an adult space, interacting with NSFW content alongside other adults or potentially interacting with adults in a NSFW way. I'm not the best at phrasing, but I hope what I'm saying makes sense.

That said, if a minor draws something sexual and doesn't share I feel like that's not as much a big deal, because it's not really likely to get them hurt imo???

succurox

this may be somewhat problematic and i understand that but here's my hot take on that situation:

minors can draw whatever they want. they are also free to post it if they want. however, it is their responsibility to realize that they should not be taking nsfw commissions and they should not be discussing that kind of subject with anyone above the age of eighteen. just the same, it's the responsibility of the adult to be like, 'hey, you really shouldn't be here in this particular area. if you want to do art like this, share it with people who are near your age and comfortable with it.'

minors learn about this stuff REALLY early, not when they're like near seventeen or eighteen. they're curious. so i'm of the opinion that they should be able to experiment or do art of whatever they want or post whatever they want without being chastised for it.

the ONLY exception when it comes to that for me personally is if they're doing nsfw of themselves or a persona/fursona. that is the ONE thing i believe they shouldn't be sharing.

As a minor, I feel like minors should only be drawing nsfw and keeping it in private places.

And hell no when it comes to them commissioning nsfw art. People got in trouble (jail time and such) because of protective parents not knowing their kid broke laws so they punish the artist because they drew art for someone who lied about their age.

sillykavat

I feel like my opinions on this aren't valid being a minor, but like drawing it is perfectly fine? You shouldn't be able to restrict anything a kid wants to draw as it's not your problem.

When it comes to sharing, I think as long as they abide by generally keeping it in private places and chats meant for it it's fine. They do need to understand that you should not post in public and that just because them as a minor are okay with nsfw content not all minors are. I've drawn nsfw, and I definitely do enjoy some freaky gore, but I wouldn't go sharing it everywhere. I have a group chat of friends I trust and I rely on places for nsfw content to share anything I draw bad.

I feel like the main problem is that they assume it's okay to go posting everywhere and that they can share it with a lot of adults. They need to know that it's a big no.

Also using yourself as a reference isn't too bad as long as it's not the image of you being shared, but it's getting into a territory that makes me uncomfortable as I don't want to look at nsfw and think "wow that's based off a child's actual body" as that disgusts me.

In the end kids 8-18 are gonna learn about nsfw, some earlier some later. They shouldn't be criticized for exploring and if they do end up doing something illegal politely inform them to remove the image and that it is not okay. Maybe even tell them about where they can post it as a helpful pointer.

Edit - No to the commissions, buying/selling pornographic content should be restricted to 18+

. . . well, how are you going to stop them? I was writing incredibly confused porn when I was 13 and took many more years to actually get the logistics down, but nothing anyone thought of it would've actually stopped me.
