Hey guys,
so lately I found out that deviantart is switching to Eclipse completely and many people don't seem to like it.
I think I won't be leaving deviantart, but it'll be hard loosing people to talk to.
If you're using deviantart, I wanna know from you:
1. Are you leaving or staying? And why?
2. If you leave, where will you be going to? Which are good sites to meet weird/artsy people?

Look. this has happened before. i've been through maybe 4 absolutely awful deviantart redesigns and EVERY time they do this everyone goes "oh this is awful i'm going to leave and DA is going to fail!!" and it's never happened lmao
I mean eclipse is by far the worst redesign but this won't change. not enough people are going to leave/pull their money for them to change.
1. Staying. It does exactly all the stuff I need it to do: Gallery, Folders, Tagging, Simple Feed. No Social Media drama. (Deviantart Drama is much more avoidable imho).
2. I have a bunch of accounts everywhere, anyway. But on top of everything, I kinda hate the prospect of everyone moving to twitter. You want microwaved jpegs? You want an uncontrollable feed? Even worse algorithms? People you liked being awful on main? Zero media organization so an artist's feed is 98% reaction images and cat pics? Intrusive K-pop "Fancams" on completely unrelated posts? Go for it.
I said this on my dA, but that stuff deviantart is taking away? You won't find it on twitter. The stuff you still like about dA that makes it a good art gallery? You won't find it on twittter. That stuff you hated about tumblr? Everyone vacated to twitter. Twitter is concentrated tumblr, except there's no mutable tags, no easy multi-accounting to keep hyperfixations in their own box. Also it has the worst automatic cropping for images. And an even worse mobile layout than what Eclipse is trying to pull. Y'all make no sense.
I respect your want/need to boycott the changes you don't like, but holy cow the option everyone's taking is so much worse.
At the very least move to fa and keep the sfw toggle on, so y'all have an actual browsable gallery, lol.

I'm staying, but only for friends and groups. I haven't been uploading much lately anyway (mostly because i haven't been finishing drawings often-) and that trend will continue. I'll only upload finished myos and art i'm very, very happy with. Otherwise i'll fave my friends' stuff and leave for the most part. No more being logged in 100% of the time for me.
I'm waiting for Artrise or another dA replacement to be publicly usable, or at least have a beta with commonly available codes, like there is here. Once that happens, depending on my friends and the groups, I might completely abandon dA for it. For now I'll be trying to use Waterfall, Instagram, and Twitter. Maybe I'll try Pillowfort too, I'm not sure yet.
i've tried dA like 3 different times and just started to get the hang of it (aka: not forgetting to upload art there) i only use it as an alternative gallery for my art and just post and run. so i'm still staying just bc i don't really do much on there other than post my images and leave lol (even though dA likes to fry images, isn't it an image hosting site?)
asides from that, i've always been mainly on tumblr, twitter, and surprisingly toyhouse as an art archive and all that. i've tried instagram over and over again but since it's so mobile focused i absolutely hate it. i also have a furaffinity but i absolutely loathe the image uploading process, so i don't really upload there often. and i'm kinda thinking about looking for a pillowfort invite... hm
don't really care much about websites going down in flames like tumblr and now dA since i either have several other websites i'm already in or the changes literally don't affect me lol
^ I agree with all this (my da is mostly dump-and-go, so is my fa; i use postybirb to upload things in a queue simultaneously on fa and da), twitter stresses me out, I still like tumblr but it's a deadzone sometimes, and toyhouse is really my only active site.
Pillowfort has been pretty good for feedback in my experience, if anyone wants to try it, I bumped up the thread with my unused invites. It's more of a Tumblr + Livejournal replacement than a Deviantart replacement, as a note. Join Pillowartists, OCs and fandom groups to spread your art/writing.
I'm staying mostly because I still use the site for ARPGs. That being said, I'm most active on here so, I don't really see much changing. I might eventually end up leaving DA if the userbase shifts entirely and I follow them offsite, but I'm kind of indifferent to whatever happens. A lot of people in my surroundings have been using Instagram for art more and more lately, so I suppose change was going to happen anyway. ^^
I will mainly use my DA to keep up with groups, but beyond that I've stored everything I own on it (tbf I was probably gonna do it some time) and am migrating elsewhere.
Even though I will not be deactivating my account, I have already begun to lessen my activity on there. I have just become very unhappy with the site and the reporting system is just horrific and not at all a good tool. Especially given how many issues I have seen others run into over the years with theft and getting around the blocking feature. Last reason is all of the friends I have met through there are all also no longer really using the site and have left completely.
As of other sites I will be looking to move to, it's going to be Twitter, Instagram, and obviously here. I also want to experiment more with video formats so I am going to be exploring more of TikTok and YouTube! Possibly we shall see if I can figure out technical issues. Though for an official art site, I am gonna give ArtStation and Pixiv (if that is how it is spelled LOL) a go too. I also have my personal art website I will be updating to fit myself way more too. I guess the last thing will be a Discord group too. I'd really love to find more art communities via there to try and check out too.
I'm staying. All the changes made me finally decide to reorganize lol and I wanna try and use it more (surprising isn't it) :O I've always been off and on about it since I started. think I can adapt to it though, since I don't use most of the features often anyway, and I barely interact with others or in many groups nor do I want to customize it so much anymore ;; . Also this account has nostalgic value to an extent, it's the oldest one I have ^^; The main thing I don't like is having watch notifs and comment notifs seperate ;;
I'm already on most of main social media by now anyway and post of them when I can ^^
I'm definitely leaving. I find it horrible. I've tried to adapt but I hate it so much.
Gonna just wait until artrise or w/e it is comes out.
I'm still contemplating leaving or not. I really don't like Eclipse's layout and a lot of people I know are jumping ship so I'm leaning more towards leaving.
As a follow-up to my post here, I chose to just stay here, albeit way less active. When I turned on Eclipse again, it definitely hurt my head, and editing my profile felt really painful, like there's too many sections to edit or remove.
I'm staying on da because, frankly, I'm a lazy person. And I don't wanna really do all that work to move to a different site. Plus I have a few friends/artist contacts that I'd like to keep in touch with for commissions/future commissions as well.
