Honestly? I don't hate the look of eclispe, it could be better but so could da in general. What I really hate is how the experience of using the site has gotten so so much worse. Going through notification be that what you watch or general ones is a MESS. The checkboxes on what folders to add your art to you need to click exactly on the box for anything to happen but it still pretends to click if you don't. Going through folders in people's galleries is also way more difficult. Ect, ect, ect. And yet! No other site fulfills the same purpose of da for me, to specifically share art, act as a gallery with *key thing here* separate folders for different things, and it already has years of my art archived on it.... so I won't be happy about it but I'll stick around the best I can :(
Will Eclipse make you leave?

so lately I found out that deviantart is switching to Eclipse completely and many people don't seem to like it.
I think I won't be leaving deviantart, but it'll be hard loosing people to talk to.
If you're using deviantart, I wanna know from you:
1. Are you leaving or staying? And why?
2. If you leave, where will you be going to? Which are good sites to meet weird/artsy people?

Tbh, even though i keep hearing DA's still a mess & I ditched it because of how clunky it is I feel like I might need to bite the bullet and go back
Like, Twitter I've been avoiding because it's overwhelming af. and based off second-hand info I've been getting from YT and other sites... not sure if I want to go back at all (drama makes tumblr look sane goddamn)
Tumblr is a mess, especially after the NSFW ban
Instagram is inconvenient because I do most of my art & editing on a computer, plus I'm still not a huge fan of the community there
Ugh, really wish there were more alternatives to DA out there because a combo of site mis-management, staff not listening to feedback on eclipse or other issues, and eclipse just being hard to use makes me 'iffy' with the site.
Ok, I know Eclipse has already been around for a while now, but I thought I'd put my take here anyway.
Personally, I never left Deviantart, and don't plan on it. If you put aside all the.. weird stuff, it's practically the best site for sharing art and I'm part of a ton of CS groups and ARPGs I don't want to remove myself from. Also, I just think it's a little silly to leave an entire website just because of a new look. Sure, navigating it is pretty hard. Sure, the modern look somehow makes it look worse. Though in my opinion leaving all your groups and communities behind just because of that seems like a little much. But I don't know, maybe that's just me. I personally do think it's kind of stupid the staff even thought it was a good idea to just make Eclipse the new, unswitchable look of the site despite all the backlash, but now that it's been a few months or so since it's come out, I'm gonna be honest, I've kinda gotten used to it. Don't get me wrong, I miss the old look so much. Though I personally don't think Eclipse is really as bad as people say it is. Well, at least not bad enough to justify leaving the site. But again, that's just me! Everyone is perfectly allowed to have their own opinion.
its so hard to use and find art on there nowadays (the notifications doesnt even work well.... its not intuitive at all) so all i do is post my art and then exit out of the tab
I won't leave I'll just pot passive-aggressive comments in non-dA forum areas.

I can manage the layout changes
I can manage the slower speed
I can manage the fact that I can't figure out how to give people llamas anymore
But are you telling me that they've gotten rid of CATEGORIES completely? How am I supposed to find a stock image based on a keyword if I can't filter out non-stock images? Or am I just too blind to figure it out?
i already barely use dA and eclipse is the ugliest thing i've ever seen. GIVE ME MY STAMP BOXES BACK.
i'm not leaving but damn has the site been dead since the update x _ x i thought it'd be fine but there's been a HUGE dropoff in activity on my page. the worst feature is the way you can fav stuff from the inbox now, it super discourages interaction and it makes things feel more like instagram where people glimpse at something, give a like (or fave, in this case), and move on. the site isn't fun to use anymore, i p much check my inbox like once a day (if that) and upload art when i want to but i've like. half left at this point. and that sucks! because prior to eclipse dA was actually my fav art website (THE INTERACTION WAS SO GOOOOD and you had such a control over getting your art out there, unlike twitter or tumblr where you have to rely on others sharing your art around! and lets be real. nobody wants to reblog or retweet sfdkljsjdkfl i give you content for free can u at Least share it-- but that's a rant for another time) but now it all feels so fuckin hollow. it's depressing OTL
i've been using dA for 11 years and i've seen the site Go Through Some Shit but this is next level. the extreme redesign and how it was handled was objectively a bad idea for so many reasons and it makes me sad, but i'm too darn attached to let go of it ; - ;
