MaryMaggotFace yes, but the warning was posted BEFORE they were able to react to Sawbones explaining that you shouldn't do that with freebies. It's not a well-known rule outside of people who regularly participate in freebies that freebies shouldn't be sold/traded off. 

Even if there IS a large amount of characters labelled as "up for offers", all it means is that they were willing to let somebody else have the design if they so pleased. It doesn't mean that they claimed the design for free to only to make a direct profit, and it is not any of our business to assume that this is the case. More likely than not, it is just a mistake out of not knowing of about this rule yet. 

There is no need to be suspicious unless this sort of behavior continues after an acknowledgement of the warning (which I'm willing to bet won't happen).

FreeFallingUp13 I would think it's common sense that you don't sell things you obtained for nothing. But we'll see what happens. Hopefully they don't do this anymore with the warning they've been given. 

Not really. If you get something from a garage sale for really cheap that you can resell for more, it's called "Flipping", like those tv shows about buying houses and fixing them up to resell. And there's nothing cheaper than free.
Adoptables and characters are kind of a special case when it comes to reselling, considering artists can set a ToS to specifically explain whether reselling is okay or not. That's not even mentioning when the owners of characters (not the artists) set other terms ("I'm trading this to you so now you can only trade for it"). So it makes sense that people new to the idea of adoptables (or, at least, relatively inexperienced) wouldn't know about the "not selling/trading freebies" rule (which is also in pretty small print and easy to miss).

So im really peeved at the moment. A user named Dominik got this beautiful char for free a while ago (like a few months in a WTA kind of thing) https://toyhou.se/409367.cotton . They never added any art and sold them for 450 points. Should i tell the new owner that or confront dominik in any way? Ive never actually read or saw where someone sold a free character before and didnt even add any new art.

Feel free to use this thread for asking if anyone knows a credit! I know a lot of these freebies get bounced around for a bit and lose their credits, so feel free to post your uncredited characters here and see if anyone can help get them credited!

Starlit-butterflies both of the images are credited, so I would send a message to both artists and see if one of them is the original designer. If not they might know who the previous owner was? Hope that helps <3

Historia their first image is credited, have you asked that person if they created her?

Yeah I did through PM, but they don't know where she came from, and I don't think they were the one who made the image, despite being credited as them.
