RetroArcade got a code and it was used to create Goosethorn, they seemed to be angry about people calling them out for freebie flipping (selling a freebie immediately after receiving it), anyone that disagreed with that got characters stolen by Goosethorn. As for the links to Jitterfrog and TouchToneTelephone, a code was given to Touch and they made Jitterfrog. All the characters that were claimed from ph-ntom by these accounts were all transferred to Retro. All accounts were closed at the exact same time so it points to all of them being linked to each other, whether they're the same person or a sibling / relative of some sort, it seems they have been IP banned. Can't say for certain, but it definitely points towards that conclusion.

I don't know if it's already been mentioned but it looks like the user polarcub is trying to profit off freebies/ gift a character thread adopts as they have a sale/ trade thread here that is advertising they're looking for USD/ art.

I suddenly got interested in looking into the thisfursonadoesnotexist drama since I’ve heard copyright infringement things about it on here a few times but didn’t really find anything very substential? These are the threads that gave me the most food for thought [1] [2].
I generally think generated pics are p cool, and I seriously doubt what the generator does is just distort a selected artwork in its database instead of actually generating a picture like generators usually do. The one comparison/proof I saw turned out to be a misunderstanding and not true, so i was wondering if anyone here had tabs on it? Esp for those who’ve jumped at the site’s throat in the past. U can just direct me to an informative source/thread/link ofc. And finally, I was wondering if it rlly is as awful as people say, why isn’t, say, waifulab as disliked? I mean, waifulab prob has a lot more reference in its database, and since there’s clothes it adds a lot of variation, unlike with fursona which is mostly busts, which is p hard to make look original all things considered. And for sure the extra customization steps help, but ppl can always take a generated pic they like on the first step and keep it unchanged all the way through. Smth I see is ppl saying some generated pics look an awful lot like franchise characters, like zootopia, but waifulab is plagued with the girl from touhou for example, so what’s so different?
I’m genuinely intrigued. I’ve never kept any generated pics of it so far since I found them all ugly lol, and now i’m not sure if I should run from it like the plague or if ppl are just misinformed. Like I said I do concede waifulab ensures more uniqueness probably and that makes it less worrying than thisfursona, but I still wanted to compare it to better portray my questionnements and all. Thoughts from anyone is welcome, facts or opinions alike, though pls don’t attack me for genuinely wanting to be well informed and on the same page as the th community. No need to ping me I’m subbed, esp if this is to turn into a lenghty discussion.
Are people allowed to mass claim from the freebie bin or is it up to the owners/gifters discretion? I see lots of ppl trying to mass claim with 13+ full pages of ocs
it's the gifters choice honestly. some people put claim limits to prevent over claiming etc. if there is no claim limit then it's allowed depending if they add a claim limit later on. basically it's allowed but only if the gifter allows it. :)
cirkuspubbu It is unfortunately allowed, and is up to the owner/gifters to decide. It is admittedly very frustrating to see, and part of the reason why I try to be very selective with whom I hand out freebies to on the thread. Because I want others to have a chance. It is also why I limit how often I claim, as well as make sure I give back to the community as well.
Though I do want to point out that pages of characters does not necessarily mean someone is a mass claimer: As I personally have a lot that I make to sell/re-design to give out/hold for the unfilled character thread [ as well as sharing my account with my partner ], and I know a few others that do claim in thread that are similar in that. <3 Though I am pretty sure you meant that more as in people that just keep claiming.
But yes it is up to the gifter how they go about it ^+^
I have been in the freebie area for quite some time and I think it's time to point out that people are starting to forget the definition of "DTA"
I'm not gonna mention names, I don't want to be involved in any drama but it's quite sad to see it happening often...
DTA, Draw To Adopt is where we draw the freebie and whoever has the best art piece wins... Similar to WTA where the only difference is draw, not write. DTA is not drawing another character and get a freebie... That would just be be trading (UFT, OTA) in disguise; getting free art.
It's either that or draw another character to get more tickets in a raffle... qvq

Techley I whole heartedly agree with this. I know the owner of the freebie bin even updated the rules on what DTA was on the first page. Because people have really been pushing the whole : Draw my character to get this one bit. I feel like when people do that, they should be reminded of the first pages rules. -.-

Fvhn I sadly do not. I think(?) it mightve been given away by tophatgoat, souichi or Hizashineedscoffe . I'm not fully sure if it was any of them but the character i found (second wta from same one i believe) was traded around the same time as my wta that time. Or, it mightve been mochi. And the appearance of the character should be how i wrote in my wta.
