Hi!

Since the original Unpopular Opinion Thread is locked (it turned into a shit-show reeeaaal fast) , I've gotten permission to remake it.

I've decided to use the original rules for the thread since those were gucci

Edit: I didn't mean to post ic aaaaaaaa

Spoilers: Rules

- Don't be very rude or snarky to others. Remember, everyone has their own personal opinions.

- Disagreeing with someone's opinion is allowed, as long as it's not rude.

- Yo don't namedrop people, even if they're not on this site.

- To avoid causing a mess, refrain from starting an argument at all times!

- If there's something wrong going on in this thread, or if it's going out-of-hand, please PM me so that I can take care of it!

- Vaguing someone is prohibited, and it's connected to the third rule.

- Please do not post more than twice per page, so that it won't cause too much of a mess.

- It's okay if you vent, don't go too all-out on it. This is not the Vent Board.

- Also, please try not to turn this thread into a saltfest.

- Please, no opinions focused on racism, LGBT, politics, religion and the like. These will cause a massive flamewar. Controversial opinions are also not allowed unless taken lightly.

- Don't say stuff like "I don't like X" or "What? I love X!" in a way that's aggressive. This is meant to be a nice thread about sharing your unpopular opinions, not countering someone else's opinion.

-If it's something nsfw, use a spoiler box, or blackout the text  like this

- Don't call this thread out as a "bad idea." If you don't like this thread, please do not post here.

-Failure to comply with these rules will result in a warning, or ban depending on how severely you broke the rules.

Ey yo,  if you see someone breaking the rules, pm me. I love it when ppl do this because I'm a blind bih.

None (yet, but I think it's time to bring this bad boy out.)

On giving unnecessary trauma to characters, I hate a lot of 'dark head cannons' because so many just throw it around as a cheap way to make things 'edgy' like god forbid an eccentric character is just like that & doesn't need a dark fanon backstory to justify it

mossyrocks

oh, absolutely... if it's part of the story/a way for the author to deal with past stuff it makes sense to include but when it's for no reason it's just... weird. treating trauma as flavoring for characters as opposed to something real people have to go through.

I think it's best to just try to give up and ignore the whole AI situation. It won't be stopping anytime soon, so why do we continue to try to fight if all we end up doing is getting our asses kicked and then complaining about it? I hate it just as much as everyone else, but I realize that it's useless to fight it, especially at this point in time. I'm never going to give into the machine as I never wish to support it, I'm just coming to terms with the fact that this is an unbeatable battle. Companies won't stop making and advancing them, and the AIs won't stop scraping every single drop of the internet. Genuine art with thought and passion made by genuine people will always reign supreme, but AI will always be there sadly. I agree, it's horrible to see, but we literally cannot do anything about it. Who's going to win, a couple of mad artists or a machine always nearing towards perfection? It's over, we've already lost. There's no hero story in this as much as I want there to be, we've lost :(

Please do not turn my words on their heads and make it seem like I'm pro AI. I'm not, I'm really not. I'm just admitting that there isn't anything that can be done

^^ Please don’t take this as an attack, but that is a lot of harmful misinformation regarding edibles. For one, they are very clearly labeled by law, not sold to minors, not sold in stores where they real food they’re mimicking is also sold, and are VERY expensive.  No one is wasting their $50 weed-laced peach rings just to be ruin someone’s day or gonna leave them out for a confused kid to find. This is not something that happens in real life despite what the fear-mongering local news says every October.

- I love cringe but like in a wholesome hands off sort of way. Specifically those random little weirdos you find who aren’t hurting anyone but have extremely strange, niche hobbies and live in their own happy little bubble where they maybe sometimes share way too much on the internet. But I’ll never understand why some people feel the need to bully them off the internet or get them to quit making whatever weird little art. Like that person who was in love with Dr. Nick from the Simpsons. They were actually really cool. Was it really necessary to bully the ever loving fucking them and ruin it for them?

mania is my favorite fall out boy album i like the Noises. yeah yeah whatever theyre selling out but the noises are good and i like it

^ I agree, no legal store is going to sell to children and it is clearly marked. On the topic of weed, though, I think that edibles and recreational drugs should be regulated by law. The fact that people are passed out high on the streets where children and vulnerable adults is dangerous and harmful. In fact, according to the NHI and the NLM, approximately 1/4 ~ 1/3 of crimes committed are committed by individuals who are under the influence of drugs. This isn’t me policing other people’s lives, but this is an actual danger at this point.

I like dad jokes. They’re silly and told by silly dads who want to be considered funny. #stopdadjokehate

v ugh, for real. People need to learn how to raise children correctly and this is not the way to do it. Teaching them about respect and being a decent human being is NECESSARY.

apodoforcas

unfortunately misbehaving kids has always been a thing since the dawn of time, but idk i feel like a lot of parenting culture and internet influence as well is also altering youngster’s brains waaayyy more than before

and there’s a lot of factors i feel like but also i feel nowadays newer parents are too lenient much of the time to where some of the younger people nowadays believe they can do anything without consequence; it’s good to have a balance between discipline and leniency and to have children taught what is rude to say and whatnot

idk how or what much to say i might edit this later

If you don't like unhappy endings maybe don't read tragedies... :sob: It's just so strange seeing people get genuinely distraught and only want to improve characters lives after reading/watching/etc something SPECIFICALLY MADE to have everyone suffer. It just doesn't compute to me. I loveeee everyone suffering that's why I put all my characters in a meat grinder. I get enjoyment out of it!! But there's a subsect of people that seem to just get so so upset when they read like. I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream. And it's like they're in the torture labyrinth forever. (I haven't actually seen anyone be that way for THAT book in particular, but like you know.) Why are you trying to take them out of the torture labyrinth? The Torment Nexus?? The whole point is insane painful shit is happening to everyone and it's not like the book tried to trick you that it wasn't.
It's understandable you're upset your guy died or is hurting and stuff, I get that!! But damn man no I think it was integral that that guy exploded for the story and if he lived the whole thing would have sucked a lot more. For example a character in a comic I follow died and there was like DOZENS of comments like "ooohh nooo god why did you kill them oohhh so so sad literally shaking and crying I will never get over this wwwahahhhh bring them back its too saddd!!!!!!!!!" LIKE... HAVE YOU BEEN FOLLOWING ALONG. GENUINELY. One of the whole things is inevitablility and the change of self and a whole bunch of stuff that would have been totally undermined if everything went well. And it's not even like a deep cut its like surface level observations.
What if Walter White didn't become Hisenberg. What if he was normal. THERE WOULD BE NO STORY!! Why not wax poetic about how there's no other way this could have gone. Observations about the characters involved, why things progressed the way they did- How thanks to the people involved, the powers that be, etc, THIS is what happened. You can just watch Malcom in the Middle if you want a slice of life Breaking Bad.

I knowww I'm an odd one out becuase most of the time I'm HAPPY my favorites died. Because the story would be worse if they lived. I don't want a fix-it fic, or a good nobody dies/everyone lives AU. I watched this THING. SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE everything sucks ass. My favorite thing is when things suck ass and no ones happy and everyone is messed up royally its so fun!!! Flushing heart medication because someone called you lazy. I do not want them living in a type of Slender Manshion all happy, I want them upon the torture wrack, as the story intended.

If it makes you happy then go ahead but the way some people talk about how earth shattering it is when their fc in a slasher died... I'm not convinced you're happy.

Body hair is normal and I'm tired of posts of women just existing with it getting roasted for being "unnatural" or  "unhygienic". Since its usually dudes saying this, by that logic, they should be as smooth and hairless as a Ken doll. 😨😨😨

People are allowed to not like body hair/shave it, but they shouldn't insult people who choose not to.

PK_Skeletons

Characters who glorify certain topics make me feel uneasy. I have seen a lot of mass murderer and psychopathic characters over my years and it just makes my stomach hurt for some reason. I know a lot of people like these kinds of characters but something about them just makes me feel nauseous. What's worse is that a lot, and I mean a lot, of people like them. It's so weird how people are so into them. It's one thing to be fascinated, another thing to be adoring. Also like, anti-shoutout to the one elementary school shooter OC I found that one time, that shit was vile

Am I even in the right to talk about this?
