Redo the entire links feature? DON’T USE POLL

i think i would just prefer for them to fix the current bugs in the link feature (as in fix the paragraphs issue you mentioned - you used to be able to use html in the text fields but that got ruined in the site update). i've got a ton of links (over 100) that are styled with the old way (as in just two dialogue boxes) and i would want the "redo" to be able to carry over these old links so i don't have to re-write an absurd amount all over again. 

this is a cute idea though! maybe it would work as a new feature? also i think it might be helpful to draw a mockup of what you mean since i'm struggling to parse the design! (i could totally be misinterpreting what you're talking about haha). i like the idea of getting to pick an avatar, and i hope we also get to pick the order our links are displayed in! (they used to be alphabetical and are now in order of when you linked the characters, from oldest to most recent). 

alternatively the stuff you're suggesting could just be optional add-ons to links? as in you'd have to turn them on/off first? also i'd prefer for there to be completely custom fields instead of forcing people to write about type of relationship or current status... what i really like about toyhouse is how it doesn't force anything like that on you and lets you completely pick what you want to talk about with your ocs!

i'm on the fence - i don't use the links feature because 1) they're buggy as hell and 2) a lot of my OCs are fairly self contained.

i like nonstop's idea of the links remaining "how does X feel about Y" with add on's  (i.e., specifying the relationship, possibly a way to note if that relationship is one sided?)

i would love this! the current link system is really... bland. super boring to look at. +1

I'd really like this to happen. Current link system is pretty bad. 

Firstly, @ anyone, how would you feel about privacy or even mature content settings for links, like if one’s nsfw, undeveloped, or spoiler-y? 

Also, I’ll add more to this later, I know this is disappointingly short, I can’t do much right now.

Nonstop I quickly did this in the car, I literally just changed a few words from the worlds feature (I’ll make much neater versions later), but I was thinking something like this:

It’s smaller, sortable, says what it is, and more customizable (in the box that pops up, which I have no good edit to show for that yet).

And I do like that about TH too, I didn’t even think of it before though. I guess wouldn’t actually have to fill in the required fields with what they ask for/what’s suggested, you could do something like “awful relationship, do not write about/draw these two” off limits, maybe those fields could be entirely custom, but there anyway.

I’m not sure how it’d work as an optional addon, but I’ll think about that and try to find options.

Those are all good points.

I guess I would be annoying as an entire replacement, and awful to fill in so many boxes. Plus, there’s a lot of work that could be potentially lost. Maybe I should scrap the dialogue/infoboxes being separate idea, and just have the characters’ feelings (from before) + fields in a toggleable box.

I think your idea as maybe a separate new feature or optional add-on could be pretty fun and useful. :3 I do like the current link system in general as it is with just two boxes that you can use however you want (aside from hoping for it to be redesign to look nicer, because it definitely isn't the prettiest thing to look at). I certainly would be frustrated to lose any of my links though or have to redo all of them because of a huge overhaul in how the system works... but that's probably because I use the links system a lot currently. ^^; My links tab now has like 87 pages worth of links, and my heart is dropping already at the though of having to redo all of them since I'm still working on catching up in filling some of them out. 

If new things were added to the links feature in an overhaul, I would hope they'd be optional add-ons like others have mentioned, so leaving those ones blank wouldn't make your links look ugly without them, but then again, links already look kinda ugly when you write a lot in them anyway. But I agree that the feature does need to be worked on in some manner, even if I don't have other specific suggestions on what that manner might be.

Link feature could definitely use some improvement.

The one question I have with the pop-up box is: how would you be able to see it on mobile?  As a primarily mobile user, I think that should be taken into consideration.

I'd for example like it if I could add a character that isnt uploaded. I do have certain OCs that are either not uploaded yet or wont be because there isnt much info to add there and I'd still like to at least write about them in the links(like the example above if the char is already deceased but the relationship might be important to why the character is how it is etc).

Rebuilding the links feature is on the to-do list I believe! But to what extent is a mystery so it doesn't hurt to start pushing forth ideas and specific details for it and with lit submissions out of the way it would be nice to see this as the next 'big' milestone - but perhaps pushed back a bit to iron up some other bugs before they start piling up. That said tho this list and the mock up you posted are all directions I definitely would like to see it take when it is overhauled. I especially like the idea that you can choose the 'avatar' as some characters may only know another by a certain alias. Will say I am not to sure about the pop up however? I imagine in the way the gallery images pop up but I'm not all to sure how streamline that would look with links...? Either way I'll wait to see the new mock up first!

As something I'd like - The option to hide links would also be nice, at the moment I believe they are all public.
