describe ur OC's room/house

Posted 4 years, 4 months ago (Edited 4 years, 4 months ago) by Aarix

I like thinking abt my OCs living spaces... I think imagining how they live and decorate (or don't decorate) a personal space is a cool way to get to know them.

What are your OC's rooms/houses/tents/burrows/quarters/pocket dimensions/etc like? Is your OC messy or neat? Do they decorate merticulously, or is thier room just a hodgepodge of mismatched stuff? How do they like to store their belongings? What's their bedding like? All that kinda stuff, go on and give us a tour :v

lophiusdragon

https://toyhou.se/2286399.lophius : probably full of souvenirs and pet bugs and plushies, laid-back style

https://toyhou.se/3157410.ares : lots of fire, messy, tons of weapons everywhere (some nice ones on the walls, lots on the ground), gold + red + yellow + orange + black + brown design probably, probably looks like rubble/ruins

long version:

-edgy desert/volcano

-her fave area is probably like one of those ancient roman coliseums and theres probably lots of fighting there

-very punk edgy aesthetic

-probably lots of bones everywhere

-there are creatures here and they like to fight

-it gives off a chaotic and energetic and angry vibe

https://toyhou.se/3160348.gaea : lots of indoor plants, cozy feel, brown/yellow/green/blue colors, neither messy nor organized

long version:

home:
-a giant forest that is very nature-y

-the weather feels nice, never too hot or too cold, just right

-lots of flora and fauna

-u feel instantly refreshed when entering this forest

-but   as inviting as it is, there is something off about it... you could  have  sworn you saw eyes in between the trees, like eyes of a powerful   predator... u will be fine if u are careful and remember that nature is  a  force to be reckoned with

https://toyhou.se/2286496.thanatos : very fancy palace that is also dark and depressing, silver/grey/black/dark blue colors, very organized, seems like it would be haunted

long version

home:
-basically a dark fantasy scary gothic european castle thats also pretty

-the   whole area is freezing cold 24/7 and there is ice and snow coating   various things (not everything, this is like in a #aesthetic way so it   actually looks pretty)

-the area gives off a lonely and sad yet serene vibe

Renée zinnia

thank you for enabling me

renee's house is very .. suburban. she lives in the suburbs of a big city and she's been in a higher-up position since her 20's so her house has always been on the nicer end!

its generally very tidy , the only places being messy are renee's room, pearls room (though it's since been cleaned after pearl moved out), renee's office, and emmy's office. the latter two are disasters but both of them seem to know where things are just fine

her house is kinda boring and very brown but she's content with it! she likes to decorate with things others give her (see: many rocks from her rock enthusiast friend)

also very important i forgot. she has so many pillow that when emmy moved in she moved some of them on the couch cuz she was like 'thats too many pillows'. she likes to be COMFY

https://toyhou.se/5527807.milo-zhen : A medium sized apartment with lots of flowers and pastel colors, large grey bed, modern kitchen, large studio with tv and two monitors(one for him and one for his fiancée), small bathroom with a shower.

He shares a two room apartment with Naoko and Violette, sharing a room with Violette, and that's the only place he really does his thing in is that room, letting Naoko have the rest of the apartment.

So it's pretty modern, being in a tower in a modern city and all, the bed is however just a mattress on the floor, they really don't need the most comfort. And that's based on my current sleeping arrangement for the foreseeable future. So hey might as well have them share that! He got a computer set up in a corner, with a large TV above it, and just a lot of shelves of various Kamen Rider, Super Sentai and Metal Heroes merch. All sorts. And then since of his latest cyborg parts, some various bits of actual tech, some of which is styled after his large collection, so he might mix them up at a glance. The room can also manage to support a drumset in another corner, Violette's one of a few. He has a bass or two and a keyboard around the room, the keyboard connected to his computer. There's some nice windows to look out at Irhynam, too!~

I love thinking of characters' living accommodations. :D I've got the floorplans of most of them already posted in another thread but I've got one I've not put any thought into yet.

Lo lives on the third floor of his sisters' business, The Kings Shame. He has his own room next to his siblings''. Despite the changelings' tendency to stress upon how much he "helped found" the building Lo's room isn't all that different from that of the establishments' common workers, in terms of size and furniture. It could also serve as a testament to the niceness of the living standards of Kings Shames' employees, i.e. that they're deemed good enough even for the managers' kin.

Anyhow the room isn't too large. Being located on the highest floor it's got a beamed ceiling and a nice view down the street, including - quite unfortunately - the gambling den and rival tavern, giving Lo a daily reminder of the weight of his coins.

Wooden floor, light walls covered in plaster with decorative bordering. The room's about large enough to house a wardrobe, a bed, a small chair and a table-nightstand by the window. The walls bear a mirror and some open shelves, which house Lo's meager book collection and hunting trophies. He keeps his clothes in the wardrobe, including a small locked chest for personal keepsakes and "secret-ish" stuff, such as leftovers from his time working as a charlatans' assistant - forging tools, a disguise kit, old embarrassing personal items, all the good things. He fits his adventuring gear - as much as there is of it - either to the bottom of the wardrobe, or on top of it. If something doesn't fit he just leaves it in the establishments' storage, with a note if needed to.

The bed is quite hard, but he likes it. that way On the table there sits a candle, along with two mugs, a bowl and a cup. One of the mugs - the less intricate one - is filled with water for drinking. The other is water for washing the hands and face, optionally along with the rest of the body with the aid of a towel. It's scented with flower petals.

All-in-all apart from sleeping and getting dressed Lo doesn't stay in his room all that much, preferring to spend the time "home" either downstairs or in the employees' common room, chatting up the workers. The room's technically clean, but has accumulated a thin layer of dust from the disuse, especially when he's taken a leave to go for a quest.

I've actually thought about this, now I can have a space to note for future reference :-d (I'll put the descriptions under a spoiler when I have access to a computer / _\)9 )

Mao

2 bedroom type of place, small. Very quaint but lacks much personality or touch outside of small decor like books/plants. Comfortable but obviously not used frequently. High quality furniture that matches, contains the basics but not much else. Tidy and clean, spare for dust. Old fashion vibe.  Isolated. Personal room is much the same. Smells like dust, books, or woody/ashy (fresh wood/firewood). Occasional dash of coffee.

Noel

A medium sized family home. Old styled, but mostly kept up. 3 story, with family ran shop on the bottom. Much more height oriented due to being located more in town (think of a townhouse type). Bedrooms on 3rd floor, kitchen/den on 2nd floor. Maybe a basement. Not necessarily "neat", but not messy and overly disorganized either. Obviously used frequently type of mess. Couple of matching furniture pieces of once high quality that have aged a bit due to being passed down. It's not hideously mismatched furniture but not of the same set. Family oriented. Colourful and homely. Personal room is trashed, though. Paper, books, and clothes littered on the floor. Rarely cleans. Not much of a noticeable smell outside of smelling like a clothing store. It's "pleasant" but not disgusting or unpleasant either.

Cupid

Large family owned. 3 stories in a suburban setting. Not a cookie-cutter house and modernly styled. bright setting and wealthy vibe but not mansion cocktail parties everyday type. Upper middle class? Furniture matches. high quality. Stuff you'd see in a magazine. Personal touch and well lived in, upkeep is often preformed with help of a maid. Lots of family ornaments and photos. Personal room still has the general look from when she first started decorating as a kid (pink theme, stickers on the walls). Tidy and clean. Occasional discarded clothing on floor, but obviously frequently cleaned. Smells like air freshener! Fruity and cute. Lots of plushed toys littered around shelves and the bed. Desk can get a bit disorganized, though.

MARSFAUN

Sharing my interesting ones!

Callumn - lives in a mansion surrounded by forest. It is haunted and run down with lots of antiques from previous owners before he decided to live there (did I mention it was abandoned and three people died there too? Fun times).

Robert - before moving in with Whitney in a medium sized house on a snowy mountain, Robert was in an apartment block that a lot of my other OCs also live in. It is very old and composed of a lot of bricks, red carpet and is overall a rundown mess. He was extremely poor and sleeps on top of a wardrobe / cabinet thing (I think about this a lot). When he moves, he struggles to understand the concept of sleeping on a bed compared to literally any other place, whether it be on the kitchen table or next to the bathroom sink.

Viola - lives in a weird party hall / room with a stage that no one really knows exists. It is right behind the apartment block that Robert lives in. Viola often uses her home as a meeting spot for her Mistform friends around the city of Sunilla.

Kaylee lives in an apartment in London. She loves colors. She has walls in several colors, and furniture in several styles. Her livingroom is filled with little statue's that her friends gave her, photo's, books and magical tools. There might be dirty dishes, empty take out boxes, clothes,  and shoes, if she didn't expect your visit. Her walls have several posters with cute or fashionable things on them. Her bedroom is a mess, with clothes, shoes, make up and accessoires everywhere, because there's too much of it to fit in her closets. Her kitchen is the neatest place of the house, because she rarely uses it. She does have a good amount of cereal, instant noodles and whatever you can prepare within 5 minutes. She can't keep anything alive, so no plants or pets. She has one cactus and it's dead.

Raina also lives in an apartment in London. It still has the wallpaper and floor coverings of the previous owner, because she doesn't care. She painted protective sigils all over the walls and doors. The paint bucket and brush should still be somewhere around. She doesn't have much furniture; just a coach and a coffeetable, and a bed in the bedroom, which she uses to pile stuff up, more than that she sleeps in it. The floors have stacks of books and ordners, filled and empty liquor bottles and clothes. The kitchen has a mostly empty fridge and a coffee maker.

I'm posting here again with Lo, because I've finished a picture of his room, I'd even forgotten that I'd posted here beforehand.

So, some new stuff: As I'd forgotten my earlier descriptions of his room it looks somewhat different than in the written portion. He got some glowing rocks when our party adventured in underground mines, those are prominently displyed on a shelf. I've also given him a target to practice darts and knife-throwing on the wall, for his own amusement. And there's a romance book that he bought to chuckle at as well as a pamphlet/book on how to make boats and ferries, both of which he attained during the campaign. With the murals I took inspiration (on occasion even borrowing textures from) pompeiian wall paintings, because his setting has a major foreign power aesthetically designed after Ancient Rome and it makes sense for the artist who made the wall murals in Kings Shame to emulate that culture.

I think the artist was a girl who once worked for The Kings Shame before moving on to do mural commissions for rich patrons, and that she and Lo had a thing once. Thus the dragon-painting with the gilded edges being something she made for him because they spent a lot of time together at a time when he'd been brushing up on his knowledge of draconic to study magic. Nowadays he's started covering the dragon-painting up with more contemporary matters, such as his own wanted-posters (the fact that those wanted posters are both for his female personas is a coincidence, but also means that if anyone asked about them then he could claim they served the same purpose as pin-ups).
