Ron Perlman Voice: War...War never changes.

From the first time one person used a rock to bring down another to conflicts spanning galaxies? Was has been around and in all that time it has and will need people to fight those various conflicts. From knights riding the back of horses to fight for their feudal lords, mages calling down mystical powers on their nation's enemies, soldiers running across the fields of no man's land through toxic gas, to grunts and insurgents fighting house to house in close quarters modern combat, to the machines of war or the mercenary soldiers fighting over planets and landscapes light years away from the places of their creation. From the lowliest private fighting on the front lines to the highest ranking generals commanding the battles from above. For those fighting for king and country or simply to line their own pockets. Those who are fighting as we speak to those who have long sense put down their weapon and settled as best they can into a life of peace following their service either with a conformable retirement or a dishonorable discharge on their name. It doesn't matter. This is the thread for those who have fought either for countries, ideologies, nobility, emperors, or companies. Soldiers, mercenaries, freedom fighters, rebels? If they have made their living fighting for a cause or just started to train to do so? Put your characters here.

There are some rules to keep in mind

  1. While this thread is war and conflict? That doesn't mean you need to be graphic in your details when you post. You don't need to go into depth about the number of people your character has killed in excruciating detail or talk about all the horrid things they did in the war. However sometimes those details do inform a characters choices and if that's the case and you have to talk about it? Keep it PG-13 for one and anything that could be considered sensitive? Go ahead and throw it behind a block like so: Example text.

  2. In a similar vein as the above? War crimes do exist, yes, terrorism exists, yes, wars fought for evil reasons have happened, yes, BUT try your best to be smart about your characters you post here. For example not only is the above rule important but don't, say, imply your character had a hand in a real life war crime or horrible thing that someone or someone's parents/grandparents might have actually lived through. Just, try and keep other people in mind when posting characters who might be considered...problematic for lack of a better word. OCs who have fought in an active or prior real life conflict is fine just don't tie them to say an actual genocide.

  3. You can either post your characters one at a time or as a group in an OOC post. Post options are perfectly valid. Just try not to dominate an entire page with your characters. So if you are posting a few on their own? Try to only do three at a time and let more people post in the interim before you go back to going one at a time.

Current Ban List:

  • None, let's keep it that way.
Dmitry Big-Red-Anteater

I mean technically yes! He works for the ussr as a guard. His job is to keep workers from escaping. He also chases down workers that run away!  He may be  a dog, but he still works for russia to keep people working.

Auberon Skellum-Sketch

I'm still developing him and can't even settle upon a name, but he is a war veteran. Now that the war is over, he isn't quite sure what to do with his life anymore, and so, wanders aimlessly seeking a purpose.

Gwythait Sabotage

Heres Gwythait. She has only one fandom port that isnt a soldier.

SmokyJax

Julian and Gideon are my two military boys

Julian was previously working for the opposite side, but after he was injured and left to die, he was rescued by opposite side

Gideon was captured early on in the war and was tortured which eventually turned him insane. He was then found and saved, taken away to a hospital and mental asylum for rehabilitation ( it didn't quite work though!

Seven-Beta-Green Dragoonfliy

Seven was raised in a militaristic post-apocalyptic society that basically structures all of it's societal stuff around military service and an esoteric, bizzare ranking system. He was a mid-tier foot solider for a long time but has since been kind of abandoned post-coup, and has no idea how to deal with this. His name is a combo of the batch number he was "adopted" in (his original family was kind of feral and got raided for supplies, the kids were taken too b/c bodies = soliders) and his current rank.

Myra Dreadmire Lord_Karoshi

Myra was military in her backstory even getting her first augmentations through it, though her home planet no longer exists and she now makes a living as a Space Pirate, Gun Runner, Mercenary and overall Neerdowell.

Sairdin Reposer

Sairdin himself is a fantasy character, but I've commissioned a piece of him as a near-future soldier, and done some thought into how he'd operate there.

In that, I considered how to translate the large strength into useful, realistic combat a soldier might have. So instead of giving him some sort of big laser sword or something, I gave him a .50 BMG rifle. Probably not a realistic one since it isn't very modern let alone futuristic, but I preferred the simplistic, powerful look to the GM6 Lynx.

I figure that as a super-strength character, it makes sense for him to use something beefy in mid-close range engagements, as opposed to solely longer range. His strength would allow him to easily hip or quick fire the rifle with ease compared to a normal soldier. The jetpack is mostly to resemble how he has wings in some of his iterations (Simply based on when he had them in our DND session) - and would be cool for a sniper to use as well.

For the full picture, here's the link to that.

 [WOLF ERA] Walter Elias-N-Company

i have!!! quite a few!!! sweats profusely!!! so for now i shall give you walter :) as it says in his very work in progress bio, he's an British soldier during world war one and sneaky snuck his way in the army by lying about his age

Hannah swamii

i'm still figuring her out but i just know she works with guns

Gavin Everkill Jules

Ridley is an ex-soldier. It was abducted in a mission abroad however. None of the military personnel looked for it or even filed a missing person report.

Ever since coming free, it has had an absolutely awful grudge towards military personnel and often becomes irrationally angry, downright furious and dangerous, when having to interact with them. Ridley avoids any military personnel like the plague.

Qing-Yun_Hawk

OMG, I was randomly searching through the thread and found this! I literally have an entire story about military critters. ;v; It sets in 1920s China and follows a paramilitary soldier's journey during the Northern Expedition.

These are all the ones I have in public so far!

Yuuki Hatake PhantomYuuki

whoa, it's revival time

Honestly I haven't fully fleshed out her new history yet, but in there somewhere, Yuuki is a former soldier turned independent mercenary.

Lupin, while not exactly an official soldier or anything, was used in battle against other giant monsters, as she was an artificial experiment developed by mankind for that very reason.

This entire transformers folder.... cause they're all soldiers in a galaxies-wide civil war.
