Find a char-defining snippet in the profile above

I was thinking about how sometimes art of a character, a line, or a quote will just completely sum up what that character is like in a wonderfully eloquent way, encapsulate their personality, however you want to phrase it. So why not make a game out of it?

Look at the profile linked IC (In-Character) above you, read it and look through the images, and then quote/link the text/image that most stood out to you as being them. This can be silly ("hah, this super serious swordsman will drop everything to fawn over a cat!") or more serious; it's up to you. Remember to link your own character IC when you post (and optionally send alternatives).

Vaguely similar games: [ Give a trope ] [ Give a personality trait ] [ Assign an aesthetic ] [ Imagine a theme title ] [ Favorite line ]

Rules!

  1. Be respectful. No bigoted comments or insults.
  2. Absolutely no NSFW! And please limit gore or other sensitive subjects. If your character needs a content warning, you must offer a backup option.
  3. Don't submit characters with sparse profiles or art galleries! That makes the game less fun for the person after you. I won't define specifics, but I'd say 3-5 paragraphs and/or images are a minimum.
    1. Make sure your characters are visible and don't have a large chunk of their gallery hidden. (Double-check this if you're not sure.)
  4. Feel free to leave other comments/compliments ("Woah, their history is so detailed!", "I love this other art!", etc.).
    1. Not a hard rule, but if you have multiple "sections" to your post (like backup options, response to a compliment below, etc.), it would help to add line breaks or something between them so it's clear what's what.
  5. Try not to sandwich (post when you've already posted recently) too much. No strict rule, but if you have more than a few posts in a page, then please take a break and let others play.
  6. More of a reminder, but please remember that there is no right answer and you very well might get something that feels off-the-mark to you; if you would be upset about this happening with your OC, consider using a different one.

Example:

Person A: [ Posts IC ]

Here's my character.

Person B: [ Posts IC but responds OOC ]

I think [ link to art piece ] where [ vague description of image ] is the most character-defining.

EDIT: Oh, thank you, Person C!

Person C:

I choose this line:

I also love the way it's written!

Isabelle "Sophie" Schirch fuelli

:]

v Sorry about that! Here's Raphaël as a backup ^__^

IndigoBookwyrm

(fuelli apologies for my unclear phrasing on the second rule -- I meant you need to give a backup option if the character has any significant content warning.)

^ No worries! I can be unclear without realizing it sometimes.

Skip this and respond to @fuelli, not me.

 Izar Nguyễn Rilameth

"The Schirch siblings’ means of action mainly go from tracts (which Isabelle finds boring; she often lets her brother take care of this tedious work) to sabotage (which she finds extremely fun)." - This part of Isabelle's profile really illustrated the chaotic side to her personality to me, and really caught my attention.

I have so few characters with any kind of detail who don't have content warnings. Uhm... Zoran, maybe?

Yska silket

"Rejected by peers, pressured by family, and mostly ignored by the unrelated adults around him, Izar had a fairly lonely adolescence - just as lonely as his childhood - and spent his time focusing on his education, as it was an 'acceptable' way to kill time. One of few 'acceptable' activities his parents allowed."

i think that his backstory did a very good job of showing why izar is the way he is, particularly his childhood and adolescent years. i really appreciate seeing this in characters because it makes it clear that there is a throughline between those formative, important times & who a person eventually becomes. i was originally a bit unsympathetic to him just because i don't feel like he's a person i'd get along with, but seeing the information about himself and his childhood made me empathize with him a lot more

Eden Pastafang

"To be Yska's partner is to gradually feel one's essence being chipped away, to grow mentally and physically weak, yet to be unaware of the true cause. As he saps their life force, Yska is the most understanding and compassionate partner that he can be, promising to help his companion as much as he can with their strange onset of depression. And, generally, they are receptive to this- they are so lucky to have someone so wonderful by their side."

Sorry this is more of a chunk than a snippet haha, but I think this passage really shows how "lovely", fake and insidious Yska is. I also really like how the way it's written shows what it's like to be in the broken mind of his victims.

(@ np IC is preferred, but if you'd rather a more light hearted bio, you could do Kellan instead)

Puzzles Zinkyzor

"But while he is a friend to all, very few people truly know him. Very few people know that, behind his bright smiles and cheerful demeanour, he hides an ever-present internal battle. He's not as okay as he lets on. Far from it. Feelings of doubt and hopelessness constantly plague him. He's a nervous wreck, always stressing and overthinking. He fears both past and future, and often finds himself dwelling on regrets and the memories of what he can’t change. He genuinely wants nothing more than to make others happy, but he has never been able to save himself from his own misery, and there are times when he really struggles to keep himself together."

YES I KNOW THIS ISNT A SNIPPET, THIS IS A WHOLE PARAGRAPH, BUT A REALLY GOOD ONE!!

i feel like this shows his emotional facade really well!! The details like

"he hides an ever-present internal battle. He's not as okay as he lets on. Far from it. Feelings of doubt and hopelessness constantly plague him."

Really make the reader feel the hopelessness, or atleast understand it to a degree!!

"He fears both past and future, and often finds himself dwelling on regrets and the memories of what he can’t change."

this lil bit really delivers a feeling of regret and strikes down the nervous wreck aspect.

TLDR- in short, great paragraph that really drives in his real emotions.

Maanas [Genshin Impact] Zoku

Comes the bright morning Boris entire family was gone and he can no longer feel the warmth of sun he onces loved.

There's something really poetic and really, really has that 'finale' feel to this line. Kinda like 'there's no turning back and everything's changed' turning point here.

Maanas is a first option but if he has too little content, Yun or Skye has some concrete and more fleshed out profiles instead!

Tarus ArtisticTiger

“Due to his rather mysterious nature, Maanas is seen as some sort of Akademiya cryptid for the students undergoing their thesis.”

I see a lot of mysterious characters but his description adds some spark to his profile. It’s nicely written and explained.

Np- If he doesn’t spark your interest feel free to pick anyone in that folder :)

Xarxus Sakjutarést (Mortal Version) Rilameth

"His species, much like humans, search for life long partners. Tarus knew that no matter who he was with, he would end up outliving them. This somewhat discouraged Tarus from actively looking for a partner. He began to transition his focus on other things. Then he met his wife, a wonderfully sweet woman with a curious mind. Tarus loves his wife with all his heart and is very protective of her."

This bit most strongly shows who he is as a person, it describes how he feels and reacts to someone specific, and illustrates traits he likes to see in other people (kindness, curiosity). That he didn't get stuck on trying to find perfection, and instead went and worked on himself and his life, also shows his ability to move forward with his life, while at the same time he didn't close himself off to the possibility of love entirely. This demonstrates resilience.

sorry if I'm not too coherent, words are hard X'D

Uh, I guess Zoran again as the backup?

Xarxus' Personality, Story, and Trivia tabs can scroll. Pardon the mess, I'm still trying to organize his information to be as readable as possible.

Sotiris Athanasiadis Nuclear-Hydrangea

Rilameth

I choose Zoran for this

"Zoran does not know how to drive, and should not be trusted behind the wheel of a vehicle (not that he would volunteer, as he is conscious of road safety). He is accustomed to flying or walking everywhere, and his wings, split tail, and horns make fitting into most vehicles rather difficult."
This, this sums up about the him being a character that can fly while also his personality being cautious of safety. Why you need vehicles when you need wings to travel around. Much more freedom to see where you go than vehicles because of roads and stuff.

NP: Either can be Sotiris or anyone else here, if this post is 7 days or more please ping me

Louis Dubreuil fuelli

"Sotiris commissions artists within the local scene or those who have a small following. Pays them well, often he might give money than what the artist needed. Who knows, he might get you to show off artworks in self organized art spaces.

Doesn't like to buy at large companies, prefers going to small businesses. Thrifting, second hand, farmers selling their own produce, those where Sotiris buys his stuff."

I find this piece of trivia about Sotiris very interesting because it makes a really good job at grounding him into reality, if that makes sense? I can easily imagine him being that kind of person, maybe browsing Etsy or independent online shops to find accessories and stuff that fit his tastes. It makes him feel human and relatable, and also encourages me to re-read his design and try to imagine where each of piece of clothing of his could come from.

- I feel like this image has a lot of personality to it! You can really get a feel of the characters here.

- I haven’t gotten the chance to read LotF yet, so I can’t comment much on that, but I always love seeing characters inspired by media. Especially creative renditions, I really like what you did here.

- the fact that Piggy made his own glasses is really cool, I think it suits the character pretty well :D

- Your art style is also very fitting for this. It loosely reminds me of the film The Rats of NIMH, it’s old and a bit dark but has similar vibes to LotF as far as I can tell. This image especially.
