Write a physical description for the above OC

Posted 6 years, 8 months ago (Edited 6 years, 8 months ago) by ElithianFox

This is a bit of an experimental thread and I'm not sure if people will be interested in it, but it sounded fun so let's see how it goes!

You most likely have a vision of how you see your OCs which might strongly differ from others' vision of your characters. Some things that are obvious to you may not be obvious to others, and vice versa, so seeing what others notice most about your character can be an interesting read.

In this thread, you write a description of another person's character in your own style and vision.

Rules and guidelines

▶︎ Claim IC as the OC you'd like described before editing your post! That way you don't get ninja'd.

▶︎ Stay civil, don't insult the character or go beyond playful joking and IC judgment.

▶︎ Only use characters who have at least knee-up artwork! You can specify if only some artwork in their gallery is to be used for the description and to add design notes in your claim.

▶︎ I hate imposing minimums, but please write at least four sentences, preferably at least a decent paragraph. You can go all in and write as much as you wish for the upper limit.

▶︎ Up to you if you write something down to earth, something more literary, or a mix. You can even make your OC describe them!

▶︎ Posting in this thread gives the person you're writing for permission to use your description, if clearly credited.

▶︎ You can structure your description however you wish, no guidelines. But if you don't know what to write, here are some ideas:

▸Body: age; height, weight, and their relation to the character's fat and muscle distribution; shoulder, chest, waist, and hip ratio; notable scars, freckles, tattoos, and markings; body hair and/or fur; bodily health and cleanliness; extra or missing appendages; other notable features; poses, posture, and the story they tell through them.

Face: details about the nose (length, bridge, tip); eyes (shape, colours); jawline; mouth and teeth; facial hair and (eye)brows; ears; facial markings and tattoos; jewellery and piercings; resting and prominent expressions and demeanour you can tell from their art as well as the personality and attitude it radiates

▸Hair: style, colour, length, texture, highlights, cleanliness, care taken for it.

▸Clothing: prominent pieces of clothing worn; layers that are visibly worn above each other; fashion style and time period; personal style intertwined into it; weather they're dressed for; class; care for looks.

▸Other things: magic used; special objects they have with them; special effects like a glitch.

Some examples

(Using my guy Florence for the examples)

Down to earth description

"This man - named Florence, I've heard - is a small athletic built demon. He dresses for the cold, meaning that above his green wool shirt with olive markings, his green wool trousers, and that light brown battleskirt he wears around the waist, he also wears some equally thick pieces. A long sleeved shirt, the body is dark green and the sleeves are a lighter green in colour; a sturdy black leather tunic, its elegance coming from the horizontal layers of the leather and the metal parts that decorate the shoulders of the piece as well as the two insignias on the chest area; a dark green wool overshirt over the leather, and a thick cloak draped over his shoulders.

What is most notable about him isn't his clothing, but his face and his actions. He looks a bit older thanks to his goatee and prominent bags under his emerald eyes, but his round face looks more fitting for a younger teen. Long brown hair that's well taken care of partially covers his pointed ears, which together with his short black horns and a tail that ends in an arrowhead gives away his species. Should he take off his many layers, it'd be visible that he has well built arms and shoulders."

Literary description

"In front of me I see a young demon with a worn out face and a lot of layers to his clothing. Looks like he just got out of a blizzard, but I don't remember it being that cold outside. He must be tired judging by the bags under his green eyes and the slight annoyance to the tone of his voice. He keeps on his cloak despite being inside. Combined with his chestpiece, his overshirt, the pelt wrapped around his waist, those green wool trousers, and the thick leather boots, he looks like he's not far away from a heat stroke.

He looks rich, a little pretentious, judging from the leather and metal composition of the chestpiece under his cloak and overshirt that he refuses to take off. I've seen him pass a ball of light between both gloved hands in his time I've been observing him. He doesn't seem all too scared to use forbidden magic, and despite his height he stands proud and mighty, like he's above anyone he meets here."

Big bump I want to revive this awesome idea

Ryn Aarix

darkrai hey its been a while hope u dont mind a ping

/also not IC because Ryn's not artsy enough to appreciate Caesar's sweet aesthetic

Caesar looked perfectly at home this picturesque clearing. A strikingly beautiful man with the legs, and willowy grace, of a deer. He carried himself with elegant poise, antlers held high, imposing and regal as a king should be. And even nature worshiped him; new shoots of grass and scatterings of wildflowers sprang miraculously from wherever his hooves had trod. Dozens of butterflies flocked to him, their opalescent wings glittering around him like shards of stained glass.

Dappled sunlight played on the king’s long hair, shining along with all the gilding and filigree that adorned him. A mantle trimmed with opulent furs hung from his slender, perfect body. His slender, perfect fingers reached up with such casual grace, and just like that, a songbird came to perch upon them. The little bird’s saccharine twittering pierced the heavy silence its bearer had cultivated. If it’s song moved him at all, Caesar’s face betrayed nothing. His gaze held a calculating disdain for whatever it rested on, and his mouth held as an unaffected line, even in the midst of such mawkishly delightful scenery.

Yes, the air was pleasantly temperate, but one look from this resplendent king could freeze someone’s blood. The heady fragrance of so many blossoms and fainter one of rich wine belied a metallic scent that would never quite leave.

v Ahhh gorgeous & so detailed aaaa (even I forget about Ryn's facial scars omg)

Chris Jensen truelexblue

Chris glanced over to his left towards someone random - a young man who happened to be around his age. He wasn't bad-looking. Starting at his face and traveling down, he first noticed his sharp face and longer hair. His blue eyes stood out against the fire from the strands. Freckles dotted around his body and gathered around his cheeks and nose. For someone that he just saw, Chris found himself a bit worried due to the scarring he found on his face. He also noted that he towered over this stranger in comparison, but he felt that he was strangely sturdy. He thought about how his head barely reached where his neck started. This, of course, left him a bit anxious. Looking further, he wore a studded leather jacket over a plain white t-shirt, a pair of jeans, and some combat boots. His outfit felt stronger than he really was.

His voice felt disproportionate to the rest of his body - it was loud. This, along with his attire and mannerisms, made him stand out from the others around him. For some reason, Chris felt a sense of familiarity. He reminded him of his brother.

He continued to walk off. Hopefully he observed him quick enough and didn't notice his gaze.

Pacify Saltminer

Taking the subway was an odd experience when you were dressed up in full hero garb. Usually, she’d be flying— but today, Pacify’s rocket boots were damaged. She’d have to go home and fix them, but for now, she was stuck in a nearly empty car (thankfully) with a few other people on it. No one was staring, but one person caught her eye. Politely keeping her head down, she looked at the man.

His cheeks were hollow, his eyes tired. The poor man looked as if he hadn’t gotten a wink of sleep in his life, but he was wide awake— not in an alert way, but in an aware way. He was tired, but powering through it. The man’s cheeks were hollow they could be used as bowls,  jawline so sharp he could cut something with it. An angular man, fascinating to look at. His glasses slipped to the edge of his thick nose, but he didn’t seem to care. His eyes were fixed on something beyond Pacify’s left shoulder, which made her turn around— just a window, with nothing outside of it except the darkness and exposed pipes of the subway. He was just staring into space.

Pacify noted his body as quite strong, a habit she made from her profession of having to find people’s weak spots. A pretty fit dude. Despite his manly appearance, he sat with his legs crossed, considerate of not taking up too much space— there Was no one sitting next to him. A habit, maybe? A lock of swept hair bounced with the subway’s movements. She was a little jealous of how nice his hair looked. Tapping her chin, she wondered how it stayed like that. He really was a classically handsome looking man.

The subway slowed to a stop. It was time to get off. As the monitor sounded, the stranger looked up, and seemed to catch Pacify staring from behind her visor. Flustered that she was caught, she gave him a little wave. She was thankful her face was covered as she stood up and exited the car, leaving the handsome stranger to be a stranger once more.

Foxofspades

"Um," Flynn spoke into his radio, hesitant. "It looks like the situation's been taken care of, sir. I'll call you back."

This wasn't what he was expecting. Flynn had gotten a call about a fight out by the parking lot, but by the time he'd gotten there everything had been resolved by a woman in a gleaming blue suit. It was unlike anything he'd seen before - bright and made of heavy metal, an armored shell. Her helmet was sleek, like that of a motorbike rider's but not quite the same. She had the standard visor, and two pointy ears. Everything seemed to be made of steel, and yet, it didn't seem like she was encumbered by the extra weight. In fact, the woman clad in blue, carried herself with a confident grace.

"Thanks for handling things, ma'am. We'll take it from here."

Flynn didn't know what else to say. Was she some sort of super hero? She looked the part, that was for sure. Even in her getup, he could tell, she was tall and athletic and strong. She had to be, considering all the metal. Damn. It was going to be an interesting day.

Inkstone RustHeart

(I tried >.<)

Inkstone laid out on his stomach underneath the shade of a tree. As usual his sketchbook was open in front of him, on the pages were a few low effort half assed sketches.  It was much too quite here in this crossroads.  Any person from any universe and any AU of said universe could appear here yet it was empty at the moment. Eyes half closed Inkstone looked around with an expression of boredom. He was about to get up and leave when he spotted someone and his expression brightened.

He didn't recognize them and they didn't look like they would be from any universe he was aware of, this of course made the skeleton very curious.  The stranger appeared to be human and much taller than Inkstone, which did make them slightly intimidating considering the strength humans usually had.  They must be pretty confident considering they were wearing a completely unbuttoned shirt, exposing their chest entirely. He looked strong with toned muscles and abs.  They wore long pants that matched their shirt that was held up by a black belt.

They had somewhat scruffy light brown hair and a blue hat that appeared to be..... what did humans call their royal guard? Police? Maybe? Who knows, Inkstone's memory was terrible and he didn't interact with humans that often.  He wasn't too keen on interacting with this one either, however there was no one else around and even if something were to happen he could just make a portal and leave. So he stood up and put his sketchbook under his arm.

"Hello!" He said happily, putting up his hand slightly in a wave motion and smiling widely.

Shoko (Sho) Akani Zaten

( i tried.)

"in front of me, I see a tall, gangly man who wouldn't look out of place in a 70's rock band. I'm not sure why he reminded me of that specifically, maybe it was his hair, which he had tied into a ponytail? he resembled someone from a band, but I cannot think of the name of said band or musician. his face was in a constant nervous expression like he was at the doctor's office awaiting an injection or uncomfortable checkup.

his suit looked ancient, aided to the elbow patches and ugly stripe pattern. It looked like something you would buy at goodwill or borrow from your grandparents. his clothes and hair were covered in frost and snow and he was puffing out an icy breath. funny, I don't remember it being cold or snowy at all. you would think he had just come in after getting snowed on. the classes on his face were cracked (I can relate; it's difficult to keep your glasses form breaking sometimes.) and parts of his hair were already going white. overall, he looked like a grandparent how had walked through the snow to visit his grandchildren."

Achi SapphireBatWings

Achi has seen a lot of things in her life, but never a cat like human. She isn't very fond of cats, nor of animals in general, unless she could use them for some kind of scheme. She supposes, that, for a cat creature, this one is rather majestic; tall and slender with sleek black-blue fur. She guesses that she can appreciate the similarity of their hairstyles; shaved on the left side with a sweep of hair on the right. Deep blue hair, striped with a brighter blue at that. The color choice isn't one that Achi would make for herself though. Her style of dress is rather simple, too simple for Achi's taste. But, then, she doesn't particularly think that anyone save for herself has earned the right to extravagant finery. As it were, the cat-human seems to make the plain, dark blue t-shirt work. The ripped jeans aren't so bad either and the checkered bracelet is a plus.

OOC: Kinda tricky to write from the POV of a villain without sounding too rude. I think that you have a neat design here. It's simple but it gives you a sense of Sho's character and it suits them well.
