Write a physical description for the above OC

Posted 6 years, 8 months ago (Edited 6 years, 8 months ago) by ElithianFox

This is a bit of an experimental thread and I'm not sure if people will be interested in it, but it sounded fun so let's see how it goes!

You most likely have a vision of how you see your OCs which might strongly differ from others' vision of your characters. Some things that are obvious to you may not be obvious to others, and vice versa, so seeing what others notice most about your character can be an interesting read.

In this thread, you write a description of another person's character in your own style and vision.

Rules and guidelines

▶︎ Claim IC as the OC you'd like described before editing your post! That way you don't get ninja'd.

▶︎ Stay civil, don't insult the character or go beyond playful joking and IC judgment.

▶︎ Only use characters who have at least knee-up artwork! You can specify if only some artwork in their gallery is to be used for the description and to add design notes in your claim.

▶︎ I hate imposing minimums, but please write at least four sentences, preferably at least a decent paragraph. You can go all in and write as much as you wish for the upper limit.

▶︎ Up to you if you write something down to earth, something more literary, or a mix. You can even make your OC describe them!

▶︎ Posting in this thread gives the person you're writing for permission to use your description, if clearly credited.

▶︎ You can structure your description however you wish, no guidelines. But if you don't know what to write, here are some ideas:

▸Body: age; height, weight, and their relation to the character's fat and muscle distribution; shoulder, chest, waist, and hip ratio; notable scars, freckles, tattoos, and markings; body hair and/or fur; bodily health and cleanliness; extra or missing appendages; other notable features; poses, posture, and the story they tell through them.

Face: details about the nose (length, bridge, tip); eyes (shape, colours); jawline; mouth and teeth; facial hair and (eye)brows; ears; facial markings and tattoos; jewellery and piercings; resting and prominent expressions and demeanour you can tell from their art as well as the personality and attitude it radiates

▸Hair: style, colour, length, texture, highlights, cleanliness, care taken for it.

▸Clothing: prominent pieces of clothing worn; layers that are visibly worn above each other; fashion style and time period; personal style intertwined into it; weather they're dressed for; class; care for looks.

▸Other things: magic used; special objects they have with them; special effects like a glitch.

Some examples

(Using my guy Florence for the examples)

Down to earth description

"This man - named Florence, I've heard - is a small athletic built demon. He dresses for the cold, meaning that above his green wool shirt with olive markings, his green wool trousers, and that light brown battleskirt he wears around the waist, he also wears some equally thick pieces. A long sleeved shirt, the body is dark green and the sleeves are a lighter green in colour; a sturdy black leather tunic, its elegance coming from the horizontal layers of the leather and the metal parts that decorate the shoulders of the piece as well as the two insignias on the chest area; a dark green wool overshirt over the leather, and a thick cloak draped over his shoulders.

What is most notable about him isn't his clothing, but his face and his actions. He looks a bit older thanks to his goatee and prominent bags under his emerald eyes, but his round face looks more fitting for a younger teen. Long brown hair that's well taken care of partially covers his pointed ears, which together with his short black horns and a tail that ends in an arrowhead gives away his species. Should he take off his many layers, it'd be visible that he has well built arms and shoulders."

Literary description

"In front of me I see a young demon with a worn out face and a lot of layers to his clothing. Looks like he just got out of a blizzard, but I don't remember it being that cold outside. He must be tired judging by the bags under his green eyes and the slight annoyance to the tone of his voice. He keeps on his cloak despite being inside. Combined with his chestpiece, his overshirt, the pelt wrapped around his waist, those green wool trousers, and the thick leather boots, he looks like he's not far away from a heat stroke.

He looks rich, a little pretentious, judging from the leather and metal composition of the chestpiece under his cloak and overshirt that he refuses to take off. I've seen him pass a ball of light between both gloved hands in his time I've been observing him. He doesn't seem all too scared to use forbidden magic, and despite his height he stands proud and mighty, like he's above anyone he meets here."

Avaritia tori34

The guy before her looked human enough.  About her height, with brown skin and short dark hair, he seemed cocky.  To her, he seemed like a holiday maker.  Well muscled arms and legs were on show for all to see, sticking out from under the guy's tank top and shorts.  Not to mention, he was only wearing a pair of sandals on his feet.  He'd only need a ridiculous patterned shirt and he'd look very much like a tourist.  Glints of gold caught her eye, and she saw his face was adorned with several piercings.

But when he grinned, something irked her.  The images of the 'human' before her evaporated as he bared two rows of pointed teeth at her, more akin to an animal's than a human...

Gillian Troutfall PronghornPunk

She was a vision of fire. Hair like golden flames, trailing down her shoulders. Her eyes were burning embers, but they dimmed in comparison to her fighting spirit. For nothing shone brighter than her bravery, always smoldering underneath.  She could be warm when she needed to be, but she was always ready to bite and burn.

Her clothes were natural and modest, more concerned with function over fashion.  She wasn't one for fancy, delicate things. The most jewelry she ever wore was simple bead-work. She wore a bear-skin hat, given to her by her father. it was slightly worn, but well taken care of.

She could only see the top half of him, for the rest was hidden by the dark waters.  He looked grimy to be sure.  Blotches of green plagued his skin, giving him a sickly appearance.  His mullet-like black hair looked damp and greasy.  One eye was hidden behind a purplish shell, the other was piercing and green.  Two green, fin-like appendages that might have been ears twitched on either side of his skull.

Riy Veilheart HeroofEnelios

"Hm?" Riy paused as he walked the cobblestone streets, his gaze wandering until it fell on a small commotion nearby. From where he stood it was hard to gather what was going on so the youth crept a little closer. Peering over the shoulders of people in the crowd, he spotted a woman and a man arguing, though about what he couldn't tell. The woman was seemingly middle aged at least by appearance, having dark brown skin and long blond hair that was kept in a braid. Her eyes were bright amber, and fierce, giving Riy the impression she wasn't someone to just casually pick a fight with. Her body language suggested the same, and she seemed fit, with well muscled arms. As he listened to the conflict from behind the crowd, he could hear clear confidence and authority in the woman's voice. The way she held herself, it was both puzzling and intriguing. Who was she?

Oops. Just as he got distracted, Riy noticed the woman turning to look at the crowd, as if she were watching for something. This way, the young knight behind the crowd could also see her outfit, which consisted of a brown tunic and matching black trousers underneath. While the woman was distracted, the man she'd been arguing with continued to yell, though to no avail. Words like 'woman' and 'lady' were shot from his mouth, but she ignored him with a disinterested look now on her face. She swiftly broke through the crowd, leaving the man behind and harshly brushed past Riy, who watched her go with a befuddled look. Though her back was now to everyone, the way she walked still carried confidence and command. Watching her go, Riy crossed his arms with a frown.

"What was that about?"

Claude Lovelace Caine

Whoops sorry it took me ages to get to this

"White hair was what initially caught my attention: white like the freshly fallen snow, the colour was so pure it seemed to have a glow on its own. Otherwise his hair was nothing out of ordinary: soft and fluffy looking, and although somewhat messy and spiky, it was clear it was being taken good care of. The two eyes with a curious glimmer in them were blue like the sea, and his skin was somewhat tanned, indicating that unlike me, he probably spent time outside. He was almost overwhelmingly tall compared to me, and I feel like a height difference of at least 20cm probably wouldn't be far off. His overall build, however, was rather lean, and added by his clean skin and somewhat delicate facial features there was a certain androgynous quality to his appearance, even if nobody would probably mistake him for a woman.

His clothes were unusual, but not particularly striking in my eyes: a dark scarf wrapped around his neck, white, tight looking pants combined with black-and-white boots, and a purple coat that parted in the middle, revealing black undershirt with a red pattern woven on them. The way he dressed was rather practical, and the way the colours matched with each other, I was inclined to think it was carefully coordinated, or at least some thought was put into it. On is coat there was a white pattern that seemed like a symbol, but which I had never seen before; I couldn't help but wonder if it had any meaning, or if it was simply a decoration.

The young man had an aura of determination around him, and although he didn't seem like a person who demanded or even wanted much attention, the confident way he carried himself with definitely turned more heads than just mine as he walked.

This is so elegantly written I'm *CLUTCHES CHEST*

[not IC or anything, but here]

The young man held himself with studied poise; his slender limbs carried him with fluid grace, but his spine stayed ramrod straight all the while. He moved gracefully and confidently, but each motion seemed very calculated, almost choreographed. Deliberately or not, the boy projected a definite air of nobility.
The crisp white of his shirt and ruffled ascot, combined with his pale, delicate complexion, only furthered this impression of aristocracy.

His frame was slight and androgynous; skinny but not unhealthily so. His arms had no visible muscle to them, but his fingers were long and dexterous; the kind suited more to musicianship or artistry than any kind of physical labor.

His features were pleasantly symmetrical; boyish and fragile, with long flaxen hair drawn off his face into a low ponytail secured by a red silk ribbon. Shorter bangs framed his eyes. His gaze was surprisingly arresting for someone of his dainty stature; ice-blue eyes surveyed the world from under heavy lashes, coldly regal in their conviction but not without a playful glimmer.

He'd been blessed with a classical sort of beauty which made him look almost angelic. It wasn't hard to imagine his visage in some Renaissance painting.

A male creature of unknown species stood, his poise tall and regal as if he was a warrior ready to step into battle. Smooth dark hair swept over his eerie black eyes, creating a shadowed image that would last forever in your mind. His muscular, gray-skinned frame was clothed in a black shirt, with shimmering golden edges running along the fabric and ending in a crisp edge. On his forearms and hands he wore metal gauntlets of the same color as his clothing, each finger ending in a sharp golden claw. His pants were made of a canvas-like material, and had large pockets on the outer side of each leg. On his feet were clunky gray boots suited for combat.

But what stood out the most were his wings. They were half-folded, and bobbed up and down, the feathers starting out a pale gray at the top and along the middle, jarringly became black. They were about 6 feet wide each, and the wind rustled through them, creating an impressive image, to say the least.

(Sorry if this sucks. I'm not too good at writing stuff like this.)

A young lady descends gracefully from the sky through a pair of large wings, hovering above the ground when she reaches to it. A tender smile forms on her face and she opens her gleaming teal eyes. Her light blonde hair shines from the sunlight and is slightly swept, presumably due to the cool wind that followed her from the flight. She wears a long skirt with a cut from the side, exposing boot-like socks/shoes that cover the thigh. A gray cloak of a slightly similar, yet tattered design adorns her shoulders, showing an arm with a navy detached sleeve and concealing the other, which appears to be missing.

Though many might assume that she's an angel, there are certain features that disapprove that thought. Silvery horns are placed at the sides of the head, matching those said shiny wings on her back. A pointed, patterned, fish like tail also corresponds to those features and her feet are tiny nubs. The puddles of water surrounding her seem to sway to the rhythm of her steady breathing.

Henri Lowell Caine

There was a certain type of gloominess in this person that very fast became Henri's first impression of them; dark clothes, a long, dark brown hair and large brown eyes with dark, half open eyelids. Perhaps it was the dark colour scheme of the person or maybe the half opened eyes, but Henri instinctively felt himself getting a little more tense. This person was far shorter than Henri himself was, but undoubtedly had the aura and general physique of a grown adult, which Henri himself wasn't just yet. They also had a round but also a very strong looking build, making Henri feel like this person was, despite their height, probably far stronger than Henri himself was. Upon closer look, Henri also noticed the person had dark, somewhat round eyebrows and bags under their eyes, indicating perhaps stress or lack of sleep - he couldn't tell for sure, only guess.

(for the next person: feel free to do either his humanoid or werewolf form description or both if you feel wild! Just not the fullmoon one though)

Claim! Can't go IC bc mobile, but do https://toyhou.se/871798.ankha please! I'd also recommend using her first 2 gallery photos for the best ref as those are her original refs ^^

Edit: done! ^^

The young male stands just at 5 foot 4, but his ears that match the blond hue of his hair add a couple extra inches to his height. His hair is straight, neat, and upkept just like the rest of the young man. He's a very clean, prim, and proper young man, soon to be the head of the house. His life of luxury has lead him to be a little snooty of sorts in personality though. He takes his time and thinks before he acts. He looks smaller than he actually is, but he speaks of himself very highly as if he was already the head of the family.

(Sorry for taking so long! It's been a long, tiring week ^^" no particular narrator this time!)

The spirit before her certainly had an aura of wise kindness, a sort of comforting sense of strength that wasn't meant to intimidate nor to make one take her so easily. Her hair was raven, eerily absorbing the light, and looked well paired with her cocoa skin and golden ornaments. She was dressed in ivory white, an open leotard that exposed her navel and complimented with a sheer, glittering skirt that fluttered. Expensive, golden jewelry and stockings completed her attire with a huge sapphire on her neck. However, the most curious things about her were the blackened sclera which looked strange despite her kind gaze, the Anubis-like canine ears, and most of all, the massive scar of what looked like a dagger's blade on her chest.

"This girl came through the streets in a carriage, complete with horses and an entire marching band. Why?

She appeared to be someone of royalty with her large crown and elaborate entourage, but I heard nothing about any political figures arriving to Chicago. She must have arrived of her own accord. She did seem like someone who would, anyways. Everyone was crowding around in confusion, wondering who she was and what she intended to do here, but all she said was that she was too busy for autographs and that she would leave first thing tomorrow. The girl strutted away from the carriage, flipped her long brown hair from her face, and walked off with her own bodyguards. I have no idea where she was from. I've never exactly heard of any country with an entire aesthetic surrounding chocolate and sweets. Oh well, that's probably going to be answered on the news sooner or later."
