Ask a question to the user above you!

Posted 5 years, 11 months ago (Edited 5 months, 14 days ago) by hedgemaze

We have lots of threads to ask questions to or about characters, but what about the users? In the vein of the Say something to the TH user above you! thread and the I want to see a TH user who... thread (and serving basically as a non-anonymous CuriousCat), this is a thread to help you get to know your fellow TH users better by asking the person above you a question. In return, the person below you will pose a question to you. After you're asked a question, edit your post with your answer!

If you're uncomfortable or don't want to answer the question you were given for any reason, just say so and leave a fun fact about yourself so the game still serves its purpose. If a question is truly problematic, message me with any concerns.

Rules:

  • Don't ask questions that are very personal or could be uncomfortable, and bear in mind that many TH users are minors, so while I encourage you to look at the profile of the user above you and ask about something mentioned if you like (like their pets, their hobbies, or their current project), please don't ask very personal questions like exactly where someone lives.
  • Try to ask something fun or interesting, but it's fine if you don't know the person above you at all-- getting to know each other better is the point of this thread! It's fine to ask something general like what their hobbies are, who their favorite fictional character is, how they came up with their username, which of their own characters is their favorite, or how they found ToyHouse.
  • Of course, it's great if you ask something more specific, too! If you know they have a lot of fandom characters, you might ask how they got into that fandom, or if they have a unique art style, you might ask how they developed it!
  • There's another thread for specific questions about characters, and another for worlds, but you can ask general/broader questions about a person's creations here, like how long they've been working on their story, or what inspires or influences them. I'm not going to keep writing examples, but you get the idea. Just use common sense and try to get to know your fellow TH users better!
  • You can ask multiple questions in your comment if you want to, but only one is fine, too. This can be as in-depth or as casual as you like.
  • Please ping the person above you so you make sure that they see your question! If you're not sure how to do this, you simply type @THEIRUSERNAME, and they will be notified! This will not work if you edit the ping into your comment later (like if you wanted to claim and then edit your question in); you must put it in when you first submit the comment.
  • You are NOT ALLOWED to skip anyone in this thread. If you cannot see the post above you because the poster or you have blocked each other, wait for another person to comment before replying to the thread. Feel free to bump the thread to encourage others to participate!
  • Wait at least a couple of posts before going again.
  • Edit your original comment with your answer to keep this clear; please DO NOT add new comments to the thread just to answer someone's question. This gets confusing. Take it to private messages if you want to have an ongoing conversation.
  • You can bump the thread as often as you like; I don't mind.
  • Be nice and have fun!   Please don't be rude if someone asks you a question you've already answered before! If that happens, you may link your previous response if you don't want to go over it again, but I recommend adding something new to say about the topic, if you can!
  • Want to play the game in reverse? Answer a question from the user above!

The first person can either ask me something or just claim a spot!

Edit: my answer

"Hedgemaze Expo" is the name of the main characters' band in my comic! I've been using either HedgemazeExpo or Hedgemaze as a username ever since, which is to say since 2003! Most people just call me Hej for short now.

The name itself doesn't mean much of anything, other than that I liked both words and liked the sort of paradoxical nature of an exposition dedicated to huge structures that can't be moved (what do they exhibit, photos? bush samples? tiny mazes?). In terms of the comic, it's just supposed to be a unique, kind of awkward, and silly band name, because in-story, it's an inside joke between my characters Jill and Amber.

was there a specific moment/specific reasons you decided that you wanted to become a vet tech, or have you always sort of known? as someone who’s interested in a similar path and who’s definitely had experiences that lead me to that decision, i’m curious to see the thoughts of someone who’s currently studying to become one!!

Who of your OCs is your (current) favorite and why?

Or if you can’t choose (which is totally understandable! /gen ) what is your favorite song at the moment?

1. How long have you been drawing both traditional and digital?

I’ve been drawing traditionally for most of my life. I’ve always enjoyed drawing, though I only started to get serious on improving my art in 2018/2019, maybe earlier? I made my DeviantArt account in 2020 and that’s when my art journey really started.

I started digital art in 2021 during Artfight. Though I did try/ use art programs a few times before, but it just didn’t click with me yet and I mostly used it to edit my Gacha characters.

2. Which design did you spend on the most? (Design that you've created and which consumed a lot of time to make..)

The design for Velvet’s FNAF AU took me longer than usual, because I was struggling with the colors and some of the markings.

Fresha’s design is a second option. I wanted to make her a detailed character, so I played with some different markings before I landed on the final design.

Yavervin

Pieplove How long have ya been drawin' both traditional and digital... And my other question is which design did you spend on the most? (Design that you've created and which consumed a lot of time to make..)

v I prefer the genre in general, I have no favorite horror stories though... But all of the horror stories that I've heard/watch has been a ride! Can't choose which one is my favorite lmao-

AsianTapWater

Mehryne hello fellow horror fan! do you have a favourite horror story or show? (or do you more prefer the genre in general than specific stories?)

v depends on the show, and my memory of which episodes are in which season tends to be pretty foggy, but i'd say in general it'd be the first season of the 1986 My Little Pony show (iirc it was called My Little Pony 'n Friends). it was the first My Little Pony-related thing I watched so it has quite a bit of nostalgia for me; I've rewatched Rescue at Midnight Castle way too many times now haha

I saw that among the fandoms you like most, there are MLPs. What is your favorite season, and why? 👀

I'll try not to write too much.

It was the comics that made me such a fan of the clown, the comics and the research.

I discovered him from the famous 2016 Suicide Squad movie, and after that I started doing some research. Little by little a shelf in a closet filled with comics, first of Harley Quinn and then of Joker. The more I read comics, the closer I became to him. Every time I read a sentence or something that led to him, I felt free from any constraints. So... It was above all the comics, even more so Harley's, where it was inevitable not to mention him.

SODAPUNKED

Death_Rose_Mayes what got you addicted to the joker?

⬇️I don't know, if it was Kong-Rey I'd run for my safety

Tempo I saw that you're into cookie run, what's your favorite cookie design?

VV I honestly don't remember what specifically drew me to digital art. I do remember what made me take art seriously was wanting to be featured in StampyLongHead's fan art section when I was a child. I never did get featured, but I loved drawing and getting better. If I had to guess, it was probably something else in that time period that made me go for digital art. I made the right choice though, can easily resize things without having to completely redraw them with digital art lol

What made you start doing digital art?

v I was actually inspired to animate after watching Pokémon my whole life! The show always intrigued me, and it made me wonder "Maybe I can animate like that."

AsianTapWater

Fluffu_Z what inspired you to start doing animation? (if anything, or just how did you decide to start doing animating?)

v tbh i have no idea how i originally discovered Toyhouse, since this account is several years old but i really only started using it like,, last year. when i actually started using Toyhouse/when i discovered i've actually had a Toyhouse account unknown for several years, it was bc a friend of mine mentioned it and I got curious.
Clef has been my persona for several years now and while originally he was literally just me but with some animal features (hence his current human design, which is just me but corpse and in the navy pretty much), his whole eldritch horror/primordial god of the void thing was originally inspired by the Hermitcraft fanfic series Eldritch Horror Keralis by MawoftheMagnetar! he's actually changed a lot over the years,, would be hard to believe now that this confident naval commander was once a socially anxious catboy in a business suit lol

Mutonian

I wonder how you discovered Toyhouse, if it was through Chicken Smoothie or not. I see lots of people from the site and wonder what they think about Toyhouse? And what inspired Clef?

v Haha, hi. Uh. This is just what I’m craving- but pupusas. Don’t really know what to describe them as for people who aren’t Latino, maybe if you’d had an arepa you’d like a pupusa? I’m a simple guy. As for countries, maybe Spain for the vague familiarity, the Philippines if I got people to take with me, the UK for its concrete monsters of brutalist buildings. But the place I truly want to revisit is Seattle, id never live there but the atmosphere and weather feels very right to me. I’m hoping to go there for my birthday.

Just want to say first: your character designs are absolutely stunning! ♡ I read that you took inspiration from manhwas, what's your favorite manhwa series? How about a favorite manhwa character?

⬇️ Too many to list, but for my most recent ones: Tim Drake, my emotionally deprived son whom I love so much; Toji Fushiguro, because I have a bad taste in fictional men; and of course, the old man in my icon, Takamura! Always love to see badass, overpowered elderly characters ♡

comedy_pink

ZaraTM who are your favorite characters?

jake marshall is very dear to my heart. not only is his gimmick is that he's a detective/officer cowboy but he practically broke the law just so he can find the truth about his dead brother for TWO YEARS straight. i am very salty he doesn't make any comebacks after rise from the ashes

as for least? uuughgghug… i'm not comfortable going in depth but i don't really jive with the turnabout big top characters
