I Want to See a Story Where...

From the cool and awesome creator of I Want to See a Character Who... comes this thread!! It's the same thing, but for literature! Literature submissions need way more love, so why not make a thread to show them off?

So, how does the game work? Let's go through an example!

User A: I want to see a surreal story!
User B: Wake Up is a pretty surreal and abstract work of mine! I want to see a story that displays a weird character dynamic!
User C: Morning is about two OCs of mine who have very little in common, one being a pretty ordinary human and the other being some weirdo conscious of every iteration of themself across every timeline and possibility. Needless to say, their dynamic is pretty weird! I want to see a story about family!

Need more examples? No problem! Here's some examples of good and bad questions! Essentially, try not to get so specific or tricky that it's unlikely anyone will have an applicable story, especially since there are fewer literature submissions than character submissions - you're not trying to stump people, you're trying to see cool writing!:

Genre-Based:
✔️ I want to see a comedic story!  /  a horror story!  /  a romantic story!  /  a story that meshes comedy and drama!  /  a story that you can't really fit into a genre!
❌ ...a comedic cosmic horror romance story that's also dramatic! (i mean i'd SO read that but it's a little too specific)

Content Based:
✔️ I want to see a story about a character's internal struggles!  /  where the characters are escaping from somewhere!  /  where someone dies!  /  involving sealife!
❌ ...where the main character can't choose between playing Fortnite and making a snow angel!  /  where the characters are breaking out of SPECIFICALLY a cardboard box labeled "gay baby jail!"  /  where someone gets killed by choking on a banana!  /  involving Turritopsis dohrnii!

Setting-Based:
✔️ I want to see a story that takes place on modern-day Earth!  /  that takes place underwater!  /  that takes place at night!  /  that takes place in the afterlife!
❌ ...that takes place in Canada in the year 1729!  /  that takes place somewhere deep within the Pacific Ocean!  /  that takes place at 3:13 AM!  /  where the Grim Reaper sighs at the MC having choked to death on a banana!

Character-Based:
✔️ I want to see a story involving demons!  /  about a family!  /  where the MC is a total jerk!  /  featuring a Pokemon gijinka!
❌ ...involving (insert specific closed species here)  /  about a family that's 12 people large!  /  where the MC trips an old lady!  /  featuring a Pachirisu gijinka!

Misc:
✔️ I want to see some poetry!  /  a story you wrote over 5 years ago!  /  a story you're really proud of!  /  a story with over 10,000 words!
❌ ...poetry written in iambic pentameter!  /  a story you wrote over 15 years ago!  /  a story with over 10 favs!  /  a story with over 500,000 words!

If you have questions on whether your question is too specific/difficult or not, feel free to send me a PM and I'll let you know! If you're worried, you can include a 6-hour condition so that you can post your request without holding the thread up for too long if it ends up being too obscure! For example:

• I want to see a story that's under 500 words! If 6 hours pass, under 1,000 words is fine!
• I want to see a story involving a rabbit kemonomimi! If 6 hours pass, any kemonomimi is fine!
• I want to see a story taking place on Mars! If 6 hours pass, any non-Earth planet is fine, even if it's a made-up planet!

In fact, some of the "bad" questions above would be acceptable as long as a 6-hour condition was included! It's a useful tool, so if you're even a little unsure about your request it's a good thing to include!

If this thread goes on without any posts for 12 hours, anyone can go ahead and move the thread along with an entirely new request!

Rules:

• I know the title says "story," but any kind of submission is welcome here! Oneshots, novels, collections, poems... if you can submit it, it counts! You can even link to individual chapters!
  
  
• Please don't issue a new request before the last post's timestamp has reached that point, even if it's at 11 hours and 30 minutes! Same thing with the 6-hour conditions!
  
  
• Don't skip over people! If you do on accident, make your request that of the person you skipped so they can still get their answer!
  
  
• Be nice and don't ask rude/passive-aggressive/ questions like "(previous request) but better than what the last poster wrote" or "a story better than my crappy story" or "a story you regret writing" and stuff like that.
  
  
• Don't ask for NSFW content, like sexual requests or requests that are gory/especially violent in nature. It's okay for your answer to be a story that's 18+ as long as your story has the proper content warnings applied, but don't ask for these things. If anyone wants to make an 18+ thread I'll link it, though!
  
  
• Don't ask for things like stories about someone committing a hate crime, where a child gets abused, that's full of homophobia, containing incest, etc.; like above it's okay if the stories responded with contain said content - not every character's backstory is pretty, after all - but it's kinda weird and uncomfortable for everyone to have someone specifically ask to see that kind of thing, y'know?
  
  
• If your request goes unanswered, don't come in after 12 hours and ask the same thing again right away! If you want to try again, try and wait at least a week or so.
  
  

If you see someone violating the rules or frequently issuing requests that seem designed to trip the thread up, contact me so I can send them a warning! If they continue to violate the rules, I'll block them so they can't access the thread. If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to PM me or leave a comment on my profile!
