CWs: Talk of “deportation” back to home planet AND talk of being forcibly ejected from host.

Rumor Has It~

A con artist always has to keep their ear to the rumor-mill so to speak. So when new and exciting word hit the street Khaos was one of the first to hear about it for sure every time. Usually it was word of how this Mignyan or that one new host nearly got their disguise busted by prey that almost got away. Each time that sort of thing was the buzz of the rumor mill the short little self proclaimed “god” of Migs would roll his magenta eyes. Each time he found himself wondering how crabs with so little ability to stay hidden could have even found a proper host to begin with.

Not that he has much room to talk himself. The amount of hosts he went through like wet tissue during a good sob back in the day while searching for this PERFECT host.. Well it was frankly embarrassing.

Needless to say, despite being tuned in with no way to turn it off; Khaos hardly ever heard anything worth hearing. That is, until one day worrying news finally hit the grape vine. News that actually made the small man feel like a bucket of ice water had been dumped over him.

“Have you heard..? The second wave has.. Uh..” The tall yet bashful Mignyan that spoke paused and looked around as if he could himself being watched. Khaos avoided eye contact by pulling his tail back around the corner back into the darkness of the alley he was hiding in. The other male’s voice dropped lower as he continued and Khaos’ ear twitched in irritation at having to strain to catch those precious tidbits of knowledge now. “They say the number of defectors from the second wave is on the rise…”

A scoff left the tall man’s companion. “And? Didn’t we already know that was going to happen? Generational differences are a bitch, X----; we can’t expect all the youngsters to be as dedicated to us right away after all. They’re just now starting to get on their feet even if they’re a literal swarm just on their own.” While the first speaker sounded terrified, this one sounded amused at best.

“Well yea, V-----. But-”

“But what, X-----??” The second speaker snapped, patience obviously wearing thin. Even the tapping of this person’s foot could be picked up by Khaos making him smirk. Good… Someone was punishing the big buffoon for not cutting to the chase like 5 damn minutes ago. The little thief had a busy life after all. Checking his flip phone’s clock he knew he was cutting it close to get to his client in time.. But this might pan out to be worth it if the fear was any indicator.

“But Mother has caught wind of it.” That is when the first spike of ice cold uncertainty hit both of the Mignyans who before had felt so sure this big guy would be full of shit. Khaos’ spiraling eyes went wide. Mother taking note of things like that could be harmless, but.. “And she’s not happy..”

Oh fuck.

With an obviously strangely clearing of their throat, the second person indicated for the first to go on. “Well.. uh.. Word on the street is that those who have defected or aren’t pushing the wave.. Especially anyone sporting the new flashy second wave blessings,” Khaos’ eyes flicked down to his own meat with a pit in his stomach, “they’re.. Ah.. uh.. to be ejected from their hosts and sent back to the home planet?”

The uncertainty in the speaker’s voice did very little to soothe Khaos’ sparking thoughts. So immediately his platformed soles hit the pavement hard, client completely forgotten. He didn’t even bother to throw his disguise back up, the night’s natural secrecy and back alleys memorized like the back of his he could trust his ability to not need to. He needed to find Callous and Anne now.. They needed to know.
