"Forever doesn't actually last. Though... perhaps it could be?"

Perspective is written through Grandfather's daughter, Lucia - during the disappearance of Grandfather (yet again). He leaves her and her son King to care for Emil, who has been going through constant memory loss due to Alzheimer's. Despite Emil's body could never age, no expected the side effects of the Mad Cow serum to put a major toll on his mental health by forgetting most of his memories and his abilities to function like a normal individual. It was this sole reason as to why Atticus left; he couldn't seem to handle Emil when he fails to remember who his husband is.

Lost Cause

Dear Papa,

It's been exactly four years since I last wrote something here. I only hope that you are well.

Emil no longer has Alzheimer's disease. It took a few more months to get him back to a fully functional individual. He's back to being the smart, clever, funny man that you loved before.

But he's not here with us no longer.

He has no interest in remembering who we are to him in the past. He doesn't seem to want to know who you are.

He thinks that you don't wish to come back and be here. And by that logic, he has no interest in pursuing a someone who doesn't love him back. As appreciative as he is to King and I, it seems like he wants to do his own thing for the rest of his life. Before he left, he did say that he was going to keep 'Demos' as his last name out of respect for the times we took care of him since you left.

That really hurts. It's like all the work you... that WE put in was a lost cause.

The second year of his recovery, he came by to visit me out of his curiosity. He says he took an interest in learning about different super-human and inhuman anomalies. He found a job as a researcher and is part of the field where they figure out how to exterminate these anomalies.

He says it's funny. He explained that he'd also be running research on himself - his own body - because he's considered an anomaly to the world today.

And so he's off to his own world, Papa. Without you.

I've decided to lock away the photos of you and him together. Because neither you or him want to safekeep it. King said to burn it away...

But I have some hope that Emil will come back for them. So I'm going to keep them as long as I can.
