The Farm

It was a long time ago when a man, his wife and two young sons moved on an empty spot of land in Fairy Gardens. Here, the man planted the first lavender seed to start a lavender farm of their own. He, his wife and the sons both helped taking care of the farm and building the castle the family still lives in today. Soon, the couple had more children, their BFF joined, and when all of their children grew up their BFFs and spouses would move to the farm as well. The family, and the farm grew, and generations later, the eldest son, Amaranth, took over the care of the farm. He married Jasmine, a young woman that live on the same farm (but was NOT related to him), and together they had 9 children, one of which was Jade.

Childhood and Windy

Jade was the 6th child, and one of two daughters of Amaranth and Jasmine. She grew up together with her brothers Onyx, Amethyst, Opal, Jet, Obsidian, Quartz, Topaz and sister Ruby. The farm now didn’t only grow lavender, but flax as well. When old enough, all the children including Jade would start helping around the farm as much as they could. Jade started by helping her mom at home, and later with the easier tasks out on the fields. She attended classes together with siblings and other kids that lived on the same farm, and played with them in the fields in the evenings when all the work for the day was done. She was living her best life on the farm, surrounded by beautiful nature and her loving friends and family. But still, something was missing from her life; something without which her life would surely never be complete - a unicorn of her very own. Sure, the farm had unicorns for help with the work on the farm, but Jade wished for one that would be her very own, for her to ride and play with.

She of course wouldn’t let her parents hear the end of it for another two or so years. After these two years, Jade was just old enough to finish primary school. This is an important milestone in any young mole’s life, accompanied by a celebration and lavish gifts. Amaranth and Jasmine knew very well that only one gift would do on this important day; and so Jade got a unicorn of her very own. She named the unicorn Windy, and she and Jade were inseparable. Jade spent almost all of her free time with Windy, playing with her and taking care of her.

Trading Warehouse

But as much as she would like to spend all of her time with Windy, she was now older and had to take on more responsibilities on the farm. It was around this time when she started helping out with work out in the farm less, and started focusing more on production of lavender oil, and all the things that could be made from it. It was especially exciting to her that lavender could be used in just about any beauty product: perfumes, shampoos, body lotions and so much more. The best way to learn more about the use of lavender was to get more involved with the people who would buy lavender from the farm for their own business. She started working at the trading warehouse of the farm, keeping track of all the lavender that was sold and keeping in touch with all the buyers.

Here, she had better access to the outside world. She frequently talked not only to the buyers of lavender, but all the other traders and travelers passing by. Here she got to know different people from all across the world. She listened to their stories about other farms of Fairy Gardens, the nearby towns and the more distant ones, and of course, the fancy Central Area of atlds. She loved life on the farm, but she hoped to one day visit the big city. One day.

Harvest Days and first love

Until then, there was plenty to do here. Not only on the farm, but in the nearby town she would often visit with her family. Her favorite thing to do was visit the Harvest Day celebrations every month.

When she started secondary school, she finally became old enough to try and become the festival queen at one of these celebrations. Every month her biggest wish was to become the festival queen at one of these festivals, but she was not nearly the only one. Every young girl wanted to be the festival queen, but only one could become the festival queen. To become a festival queen, a girl has to win in the flower tossing ceremony, and even that is hard to get into. Jade managed to get this far a few times, but sadly she was never the one to catch the tossed bouquet and become the festival queen. For the duration of the festival, the festival queen (and festival king) would be the most desired people at the festival; every young mole would try to get their attention and date at least one of them.

But it wasn’t any of these festival kings of queens that caught Jade’s attention. She soon set her sights on a young boy from a nearby poppy farm. His name was Theo, and he would regularly attend the same festivals as Jade. Jade found her way to start talking to him, getting to know him better, and they eventually started dating. Jade was head over heels for Theo and he seemed to feel the same. They were happy together for a full year before things started going downhill. Theo hoped Jade would marry him and move to his farm, but Jade wasn’t sure yet if that’s what he wanted. The more time that passed the more their differences were starting to get in the way, and eventually they broke up. Jade was heartbroken, but started distracting herself with making her own lavender shampoo bars. She sold them from the farm, but was dreaming about one day moving to town and opening her own shop.

Wanderlust

The next few years have passed with Jade continuing secondary school, working at trading storage and making her own shampoo bars. In her free time she spends a lot of her time looking up beauty tips and learning more about makeup, fashion and hair. She became more interested in hair styling, and started learning from a friend who ran a hair styling business at the farm. She liked working at the trading storage, but she started wondering if there might be other things for her to try out, learn and experience. After high school she continued to work at trading storage while also working as a hair stylist for the residents of the farm and making lavender shampoo bars.

Listening to the stories of different travelers at the trading storage, Jade grew more and more curious about the foreign lands across the world. She only left the farm to go to nearby towns for Harvest Day or outings with friends, but she never really traveled anywhere further than that. Now, she thought, it might be time to do just that. First, she convinced her sister Ruby, who was her closest friend on the farm, to go on a short vacation with her. They traveled to a beach resort in a nearby town and enjoyed everything the town had to offer for a week. When they got home, Ruby was more than happy with her vacation and promised she’d return there with Jade again. And they did return there, as well as visited a few other nearby towns. But Jade always wanted more than just that. She never forgot about her wish to visit Å+*4˜, but Ruby didn’t seem to be that excited to travel that far with Jade.

No matter, Jade made good friends with many travelers and caravan families that came to the farm over the years. One day she decided to travel with one of them to Å+*4˜. For weeks she traveled with them from town to town, learning about new places and meeting new people. The family took care of her and provided her with all she needed - she lived as one of their own, in exchange for help with all the work that needed to be done.

After a couple of weeks they ended up in Å+*4˜. Finally, Jade was in the city she always wanted to see. The family stayed here for a few days, delivering and getting their goods from the town, and taking some time to relax and have fun in town. After two or three days it was time for the family to move on, but Jade wasn’t ready to live quite yet. She stayed in the city for a time, got herself an apartment and a job in a hair salon. There she learnt more about hair care and hair styling, but one thing she wanted most of all was to settle down, find herself a family and open a hair salon of her own.

New life in Ä+*4~

Jade settled down in the city, and now with a place to stay and a stable income provided by her hair salon job and selling handmade lavender shampoo bars, she had time and money to take care of herself, have fun in the city and meet new people. But being alone in a new city can be pretty scary, especially for someone who grew up with a big family. She got along with her coworkers in the hair salon, but they weren’t as ready to accept a new member as the caravan family she traveled with here and she always felt a little bit out of place with her own family to belong to. Jade decided this has to change soon and she will change it no matter what it takes.

In her free time, she started spending time out in the city, in shops, parks, bars, she attended every festival and spent time around places with a lot of people, looking for someone very special. Well, she didn’t know who that would be, but she knew she wanted a boyfriend ASAP. While hanging out around town, she started recognizing some people she would frequently see around the same places she hung out at. A business man who would always come in and out of work with a young brown haired woman - possibly his daughter - a moth fairy - a rare sight in this part of the world - who must have worked in a nearby temple or a herbal garden, a young woman would always went jogging in the park right before lunch time, that one guy who always walked around naked for some reason. One day she even found Drag Queen Chicken, a shop belonging to one of the famous models and fashion designers of Ä+*4˜ - Tim. Oh, how fancy and fashionable his family must be! And surely rich too! It was nice to fantasize about being a part of such an incredible family but Jade knew this wasn’t realistic. Someone like Tim wouldn’t give a time of day to a silly farm girl like her. Sure she lived in the city now, but she was a nobody, a girl who couldn’t even become a festival queen, and would probably spend the rest of her life sweeping hair in a small hair salon and would die alone with no fancy famous friends and even worse - no boyfriend!

No, Jade knew that she had to step up her game if she wanted to find a family of her own here. One day she was just waiting for a bus to take her back home, watching people come and go from work, shops, meet friends and run errands. And among these people there was someone who caught her attention. A young red haired man, who was clearly up to something. He was stopping people on the street, offering them a deck of cards. She couldn’t hear exactly what was going on, but from their body language she assumed this was some sort of a prank. Well, unlike other people wrapped up in their own thoughts, he was seeking out people to interact with, and he was pretty cute too now that she Jade thought of it. She approached him, hoping he would notice her and try to get her involved in his prank, or whatever he was up to. Surely enough, he approached her too.

He offered her his playing cards, telling her that in case he guesses what card he chooses, he gets to kiss her. Jade couldn’t tell you what exactly took her over at that moment, but she grabbed him by the shirt, pulled him closer, looked him in the eyes and told him to forget the game and just kiss her. She planted a smooch right on his mouth, and just as she did it, she realized the strangeness of the situation - this was no Harvest Day where such behavior is expected! Nevermind though, the guy didn’t seem to mind it at all, and after a moment of awkwardness, he invited her for a drink. They went to a nearby snack bar, and spent the next hour there getting to know each other. After their snack and drink, Andrej, as the guy was named, invited Jade over to his place, and I don’t need to tell you where that led.

The next day they went their separate ways, or at least Andrej thought so. Jade had no intention of letting him go now. She kept following him and inserting herself into his life as much as she could. In the process she even found out that Andrej is actually the leader of Tim’s family, which made her even more determined to stick around. Over time, Andrej couldn’t keep her away anymore, and she could tell he was falling in love with her too. She slowly made her way into the family, introducing herself to other members of Andrej's family, including Tim. Not only that, but when visiting Andrej she found out he even lived with Scarlett, one of the most famous actresses to rise to fame in recent years.

She became Tim’s and Scarlett’s personal hairstylist, and started learning about makeup more seriously too. Now, she was officially a personal hair and makeup stylist to two of the fancy celebrities of Å+*4˜. As such, she surely needed her own hair salon, but buying a shop of her own would be too expensive. Luckily by now, she knew well how to manipulate Andrej, and ended up convincing him to buy her a shop himself. The shop is conveniently located in Central Area near Andrej’s home, so now she could see him even more often. Now, it was only the matter of time when Jade would move in to Andrej’s home and officially become part of his family.
