Author's Notes

A slightly inaccurate simplification of Resolve's take on the ill-fated Songbirds after legend Lore.

Ill-Fated Birds

Zeta

"But... There's something else. After that message. That abhorrent god, realizing that she had been betrayed, stabbed a tentacle into the bird's gut. 'Any last words?' it spoke. And that bard, fueled by a courage that I can only dream of one day achieving, warped a phrase that had taunted her so... 'Everything you are.... You owe to me.'
She was rewarded for her part by being granted a quick death."

Angel

"Who knows what else she was put through..."
"She was ordered to kill an innocent child. It wasn't the first time. It surely wasn't the last. And she, afraid of what may happen to those she cared about if she disobeyed... had to do it. To her horror, she felt nothing. She had lost herself to that abhorrent god's will."

Snow

"There's another. She was in Phoenix Feather when it fell."
"Her companions left her- all but one- and she turned to face her beloved town. It was ablaze, certain to become nothing more than ashes. An agent of that abhorrent god, some warping of what a beholder should be, intended to make short work of the bard. She fought valiantly, having savored every second of her freedom, even now, with her life nearing its end. If she was to die, then it would be on her terms; she would go out fighting for her freedom, armed with the music that she so loved. I think that she got her wish."

Savior

"The forth. As far as I know, she wasn't involved in the message, or... The ascension. She... She was plunged into a horrid nightmare. It must have felt real... And, it seemed to last a lifetime. She was put through every horrible thing you could ever come up with... and every horrible thing that you can't. Wishing, hoping, begging, that she could wake up from this wretched dream... And one day... She did. But she would never be the same."
