Just a thingy I wanted to write about Red, a small glimpse into his past. This thing will be edited until I decide it's complete.

Red is still an asshole at this time, so that's why he's rather mean in this story! I also have no idea how many chapters this will be. Guess we'll find out together!

Chapter 13

"Red Rabbit"

"Part Thirteen - A Job To Do"

Red slunk off the warp pad in his war ship, tired from the day's events, but gladder than a Sunstone that he got play for a bit. That being said...he needed a moment to take the edge off. "Pearl, you're no longer required for the evening." She tilted her head in confusion. "Eh?" They passed the gateway in the back of the deck, and entered the hallway. "I said, go rest for the night. I've got a report to make." Strawberry was a bit surprised, since she wasn't used to leaving the side of a master, but if he ordered it, then so be it. He waved her away, and removed his destabilizers, tossing them to her as if they were toys. "Go do whatever it is you Pearls do." Other than standing around and acting as eye candy, that is. "And clean those for me. They need to be polished, and only use chalcathium oil on them, got that?" She eagerly nodded, glad to be of use. "Of course!" With that, she scampered away and left the gem to his own devices.

Heading into the front deck, Red ignored the other gems that saluted him with mild dread, and slunk down into his chair. Ugh. Time for reporting.

Tapping a few buttons on the same panel from before, Red brought up a calling screen, and sat up properly. Crossing his arms in the Diamond insignia, he came face to face with the head honcho herself: Yellow Diamond. As usual, she was in her absolutely lovely mood. "Out with it, I don't have time for wasteless calls on the Diamond hotli-" Yellow turned around and stopped, and a menacing grin appeared on her face. "Oh yes, you,"she cackled. Red was one of her favorite toys-not because he was able to stay together as whatever the hell he was, but because he was able to turn in results. "Tell me, how are you enjoying the new Pearl? I assume she was able to prove her use today." He nodded. "Yes, my Diamond. Your gift has certainly proved to be different. " His Diamond held up her own Pearl. "She's a special sort of Pearl-not as special as mine of course, but perfect for a bloodthirsty creature like you."

The bright gem set her Pearl down and looked back at him, with a more serious expression on her face. "Enough with the niceties. Is my planet ready for colonizing?" Nodding, Red brought up an image of the planet for both of them to see. Green cross marks represented the nests he and his troops had taken out. "The last of the organics have been exterminated, and we've sent out the Snowflake Obsidians to map out and prepare the Agate kindergartens. Production will start immediately. That is all, my Diamond." Yellow tapped her board and brought up another image of a planet, one of Homeworld, their main base of operations. "Good, good. I need you to arrive to Homeworld later. White is hosting a gathering for elites, and I want to show off one of my more dangerous toys. Bring your Pearl with you, she can stand with the others. She'll even be graced with mine's presence. Look fancy, I don't want to see you in any of the rags you're sporting now." Red gritted his teeth and nodded. "Understood, my Diamond." What else could he say? Yellow brought up the image of a gem, an Opal at that. "Since that will be all, I'll shortly send over one of my Opals for her to dress you up. She'll arrive in the morning. This is what she looks like; don't kill her, I know how you like to hunt gems for sport. Don't embarrass me. Remember, you don't represent yourself, you represent me." With that, the screen on her end shut off, and so did Red's.

Red slunk back down in his chair, and crossed his legs. Her final sentence rang in his mind, leaving a sour note for him. He glanced at the Rubies that were piloting parts of the ship, and barked at them. "What are you staring at?! Didn't you hear our Diamond?! Warp to Homeworld, now!" Apparently now he has a gathering to attend. Goody.

Stars above, he just loved his job.
