Raphael's Diary Entry I
The Absolute has been destroyed, and with it the Crown of Karsus – neither my father nor I will be able to channel its power for the time being. Not a long time, most likely. But I can wait.
I did underestimate the tadpoled in their power, if not their benign naïvety when it comes to assisting those in need. Placing the wellbeing of a she-devil before the impending doom of ceremorphosis: was it all a ploy to gain my favor, perhaps? A step on the ladder to their ultimate goals? Or maybe all they wanted was to save a friend. I thought I didn’t understand their foolish actions. But slowly I begin to realize – as pathetic as it is – their devotion to another. It’s a foul thing to feel.
I can retake the Orphic Hammer at any time. A tool is a tool, and artifacts like it are easy to come by over the centuries. But the Crown of Karsus was in my grasp. Was allowing such mice to steal from me a mistake, after all – I cannot know for now. But I have Urielle. And keeping her safe is on par with domination of the Hells. Avernus can wait for me. I am no longer alone.
