The actual dictionary definition of the word Scourge is: a person or thing that causes great trouble or suffering.

Sam changed his name to Scourge after he became an assassin. It was recommended to him to go under a name other than his actual name while having this career. So he decided to call himself "Scourge".

Arbaro Springs. A small, cozy town on the outskirts of the city and the Ponderosa Forest. Scourge lived in the more "shady" side of town.

 Ponderosa Forest. A large, dense, coniferous forest that is home to many forms of wildlife. Scourge lives in the more mountainous side of the forest in a large cave within the section known as Macabre Hills.

 Assassin. He is a very non-traditional assassin who can kill whoever and whenever he wants to, and he gets payed with teeth and claws instead of actual money.

 The Demon of the Forest. That is his assassin title that most people outside of the forest refer to him as.

 Killing people, torturing people, hunting, collecting teeth and claws, making teeth and claw necklaces, climbing trees, collecting rocks.

 He's got a really good sense of smell. He can practically smell someone or something from up to 20 miles away. He is also a very fast runner, and he is an excellent climber. He also knows the vital points on a victim's body so that he can kill them easier. He's a really good swimmer, and can catch fish or hunt other animals very well!

First Memory:

 His first memory was literally just him running into the forest at the age of three, and meeting Shenovarin for the first time. 

Most important childhood event that still affects him/her:

His mother dying from an overdose. That was the most traumatic thing that happened to him during his childhood, and he still thinks about it from time to time.  

Why/How? 

Sam was the first one to see his mother dead on the couch, with pill bottles scattered all across the floor. Sometimes he still sees scenarios similar to it in his nightmares. 

Other memories/events that still affects him/her and why/how:

Meeting Tao. Tao was Scourge's first and only friend as a child. Tao was really important to him, and they did pretty much everything together. Nowadays, Scourge and Tao are actually dating! 

Past failures s/he would be embarrassed to have people know about and why:

Sam did have a pet goldfish when he was younger. He did end up neglecting it during his teen years, and it eventually died. He didn't want anyone to think it was dead, and he didn't even want to believe that it was dead himself, so he continued to "feed" his dead goldfish, and he even cleaned the tank for it on a regular basis as if it were still alive. Tao was the only one who knew about this, and Scourge still doesn't want anyone to know about this for some reason.

Biggest role model:

Shenovarin. Sam would always look up to her and ask her many questions.  

Why?:

Shenovarin always seemed so free, and she was really able to enjoy being out in the forest. He wanted to be like that. 

Biggest disillusions from childhood:

He thought that being out in the forest would mean that he can be completely care free, and free from all of his problems... he still suffers many hardships everyday. Nevertheless, he was glad that he made the decision to run away. 

Backstory: (It's very long! I don't expect anyone to read through the whole thing!)

When Scourge was a kid, his name was actually Samuel (Sam). Sam was born with two peculiar things. He was born a runt, which meant he would either not survive that long or he would live the rest of his life being a lot smaller than an average bear. The other thing, was he was born with something called, “Veterisan Syndrome”. (Yes, it’s made up.) This syndrome is a genetic defect that can occur in almost any animal, but it is more common in certain species than others. It causes an animal that is supposed to be civil have uncontrollable primal urges and instincts. The mentality of whoever has it is more wired for them to be wild animals, so they tend to act like it. In some of the worst cases, it can drive it’s victim completely mad as time goes on, as they crave freedom and an escape out to the wild. Most parents who had a kid with this syndrome would either let the kid out into the wild, or they would have them put down because they would have no way to control it otherwise. Samuel had a very bad case of Veterisan Syndrome, and it still affects him to this day. He was a very out-of-control child who would growl, claw, and bite at anything and everything due to his growing need for an escape to the wild.

Samuel did run out into the woods numerous times during his childhood. Almost every time that he went out there, he would run into the spirit guardian of the forest, Shenovarin, who took the form of a butterfly. Whenever Sam’s parents would find him and bring him back home, he would usually protest against it by saying that a butterfly told him that he would be the one to save the forest.

His parents Desmond and Zaphara did everything that they could to try and give Sam the happiest life that they could, but his condition was only getting worse. Sam was causing so much stress in the family that his mother Zaphara overdosed on anti-anxiety pills. She ended up passing away and Desmond was utterly heart-broken at what had happened. Desmond blamed Sam for her death and never really treated him as his son anymore. He began to raise Sam for what he really was, a wild animal, using brute force and violence to get him under control at times. Desmond never intended to abuse Samuel, but he basically did.

One day, Sam went outside to try and calm down after one of his moments. He sat on the front porch and looked out at the forest. That was when a friendly tasmanian devil walked by and noticed him. The tasmanian devil greeted Sam, and introduced himself as Tao. Tao and Sam actually ended up hitting it off quite well, and they became inseparable friends. Tao would stop by Sam’s house almost once a day to check on him after he found out about his syndrome, and he tried to help him get through it. Desmond was actually quite grateful for Tao and his help, so he gave Tao permission to come over and see Sam whenever he would like to. Tao even bought a brand-new electric guitar for Sam at one point to give him something else to take his mind off of things, and it seemed to really help for the most part. Sam would practice on it for a few years until he actually became really good at it.

As time went on, Samuel seemed to be getting a little bit better, but he still had many outbursts. One day he literally tried killing Desmond in his sleep with a knife, and that was when Desmond had finally lost his cool. He ended up using a glass shard from one of his broken beer bottles to engrave words into Samuel’s back. The words were “Worthless”, “No good”, and “mistake”. Desmond genuinely hated his monster of a son at this point. Desmond knew what he did was quite wrong, but he was practically losing his mind at this point too. Desmond had given up on trying to keep Sam home with him whenever he tried to run into the forest, and one day it happened.

At the age of fifteen, Sam had ran away into the Ponderosa Forest for good. No one was there to stop him, and his father thought that maybe it was for the best this time. Tao found out about this and he was very devastated. He thought that this would be the last time that he’d ever get to see his best bud again, but he didn’t really want to give up there. He promised that he would search for Sam often in an attempt to find him and not necessarily bring him back, but to just make sure that he was still alive and well.

Sam had been wandering around in the forest for a few days now. He was still searching for food, shelter, and water, and was not having any luck with it. Instead, poor Sam ended up getting attacked by a whole pack of grey wolves. The pack consisted of about ten, angry wolves. Nonetheless, Sam was determined to fight the wolves. He grabbed whatever he could to try and hit the wolves with, rocks, sticks, even the dirt. He knew that none of that was really warding off the wolves, so he tried using his claws against them. After some time of inexperienced fighting, he ended up breaking a few things in his hands and his feet which caused his claws to jut out to their full length. It was an extremely painful experience for him, but now he had claws as long as daggers to work with. Once he collected himself, he used his new claws to his advantage and killed a few of the wolves. Soon enough, some of the wolves ran off and the battle had come to an end. Sam had many wounds on his body from this, and he ended up losing his right ear and his left eye.

After the huge battle with the wolves, Sam felt something from it. He felt a sort of euphoria from killing the wolves, and actually felt more free and alive than he ever has. He never wanted to forget this experience, so he ended up removing some teeth and claws from the dead wolves to keep for himself. Shenovarin the forest spirit was watching when Sam fought the wolves, and she saw potential in him. She knew that maybe he would be the one to help her defend the forest since she would not be able to do something like that alone. Nova knew she’d have to help Sam survive out in the forest though if she were to ever assign him to help her out, so she lead him to the biggest source of water in the forest. The Ponderosa Lake, which was located right in the middle of the forest. There was a lot of wildlife around the lake which meant there was plenty of food there, and not too far from the lake was a large cave that could potentially make up for shelter. Nova promised Sam that he could have all of this to himself if he agreed to help her rid the forest of people who harmed it. She told him that he would basically have to become an assassin and kill those who meant harm to the forest. (See the about section of this for details on the assassin job he has.) Without any hesitation, Sam accepted it.

As an assassin, Sam had to go under a different name. After some time, Shenovarin and Sam decided that his assassin name should be Scourge. Sam liked the name so much, that he has everyone call him Scourge, and he doesn’t like being called Sam under any circumstances. Once Scourge became more notoriously known around the forest, he earned the title of Demon of the Forest. A lot of people see him as a myth that isn’t actually real, like big foot or something because it is kind of rare to see him. And if someone does see him, they probably aren’t going to make it back out alive to tell everyone that he is real. Despite people thinking that he is just a myth, the public also gives him kill requests for people.

Eventually, Scourge had killed a tiger dude who happened to have a glass eye. Scourge took that and replaced his missing eye with it, even though the colors didn’t really match. Not too long after that was when Scourge fought the bear in the cave and claimed it as his own. Now he lives there with Tao and continues his job as an assassin. And of course, he still has to deal with the syndrome to this day, which is actually not as tough for him now as it was back then because now, he is right where he wants to be.

 

Physical Characteristics

 5' 5" (He's shorter than the average bear, because he is a runt!)

Posture:

His posture tends to be normal most of the time, but sometimes he can get a bit of a "slouch" to it.  

Build:

He has a very weird and undefinable build to him. He's kinda shaped like a carrot in a way... he's muscular yet skinny at the same time. He's not got a logical build to him but, whatever man. 

Skin:

Like... color?? Uhm... his skin is actually a pinkish color, just like most animals if you were to shave their fur off! 

Hair:

His hair and fur are the same colors. He has tan fur, and various places with brown fur. His muzzle, insides of his ears, eyelids, shoulders, chest, elbows, knees, hands, and feet are all brown, and the rest of him is tan.

His hair is spiked up a bit, and has this random curl in it. His fur is always messy and unkempt.

Ears:

He only has one ear! His ear is round just like a bear's. He also has this weird white fluff in his ears, but then again a majority of my OC's have that. Das it.

Eyes: 

He is actually missing his left eye! It is replaced with a glass eye. The glass eye matches his real eye quite well besides the fact that they are two different colors. So no, he does NOT have heterochromia. His pupils are kinda snake-like, or cat-like since they are just slits.  

Nose:

He has a big, freakin' nose on him. 

Mouth:

He has yellowed teeth, and he has a cross-bite! His teeth form more of an overbite on the right side, and they form a very distinctive underbite on the left side. One of his teeth stick out over his bottom lip on the right side, and two of his teeth stick out over his top lip on the left side.  

Face shape:

It's just.... shaped like a bear's face! 

Expressions:

He is commonly seen with a pissy/grumpy/upset look to him, even if he isn't really mad at the time. Also, he can be often seen with the psychotic smile. He has a wide range of expressions, with some being more rare then others.  

Describe their smile:

His smile tends to be really toothy, and sometime's it's hard to tell if he's sincerely smiling or not. It is actually quite hard to make him smile genuinely. 

Hands:

He literally doesn't have fingers.... His long claws jut out where his fingers should be. He can still pick things up normally for the most parts. He has tan paw pads on his palms. 

Feet:

The same goes for his feet. Long claws where the toes should be, and tan paw pads on the bottoms of his feet. 

Tattoos/Scars?:

He has A TON of scars covering his body.  

Glasses/Contacts?:

Nope!

Left/Right handed?:

Scourge is right handed.

Distinguishing features:

His missing ear, and his glass eye are two big ones. The claw-mark scar going across his left eye is probably his trade-mark scar! His long claws. Also the weird mass of fluff that covers his shoulders and chest.

Who does s/he take after; mother or father?:

He definitely has a lot of his father's looks. His tan fur color and his expressions really matched his mom's though. Personality wise, he is a little bit of both. He can be really sassy, dramatic, and rather gullible like his mother was. And he can be sadistic, reckless, and apathetic like his father. He is kinda a perfect mix of both!

Style (Elegant, shabby, etc):

Pfffft! He has no style... he literally doesn't try.

How does s/he dress or what do they typically wear?:

He just runs around naked! No clothes at all! (Don't worry. His fur covers everything up.)

Absolutely nothing.

Jewelry:

He does have necklaces with the teeth and claws of his victims on them. He made each and everyone of them, and he sure as hell wears them with pride. He has a few necklaces wrapped around his arms as well. He is NEVER seen with them off. (He actually feels naked without the necklaces)

Weapons:

Nope! Just his fangs and his claws!  

Health:

He's... getting by. He could be a lot healthier, but he isn't like completely dying. 

Hygiene:

Ha! Hygiene? Naaaaah. He may go wade around in the lake a bit but, he hasn't had a decent shower or bath for five years! Soooo it is expected that he sometimes smells like a freakin' corpse.

Physical Flaws:

He's short (for a bear), his teeth jut out, his body shape in general is just a mess, he just looks really weird to be honest.

Physical Qualities:

Muscles count as a quality right?, his fur colors are kinda pretty, much floof, his eyes are cool looking, he has some great expressions, bad ass claws!

Are they generally balanced or clumsy?:

For the most part, he is quite clumsy. 

Mannerisms/Poses/Movement:

Some mannerisms found in his speech include: shortening words down as much as he possibly can. He removes almost every "g" off of words that end in "ing", and he uses a lot of slang. He almost speaks like a cowboy but without the southern/western accent. He also has a tendency to have a slight "growliness" when he speaks.

He doesn't really pose all that much. But if he does pose, it's usually just the general folding his arms, leaning against a wall, or hands on the hips kinda poses. 

He moves rather quickly and harshly. He just has a primitive way of doing everything.

Describe their walk:

He walks normally with a slight primal stance to it. It's hard to explain... Sometimes he can have almost a "strut" to the way he walks. 

Describe their fighting style:

Is the person alive? Tear 'em to shreds. Are they torn to shreds? Tear them into smaller shreds. Are they torn into small shreds? Keep going until they are completely mutilated and you have no clue of what is what on them anymore! 

So basically, he makes his fights into complete blood baths.

Habits/OCDs/Obsessions:

Obsession with blood, killing things, torture, all that shit. He has habits of getting carried away with his kills at times, and he also has a habit of scratching things up with his claws. One of his biggest OCDs is if anything, even the smallest rock, is moved somewhere else in his cave. It's an easy way to piss him off. Also, moving anything in his corner of the cave, or even touching anything in his corner will result in you being put on his kill list. 

Speech Patterns:

I mentioned it in "mannerisms", so I'mma just copy and paste that. He shortens words down as much as he possibly can. Describe their laugh:

His laugh either sounds like a sarcastic chuckle, or a crazed maniacal laugh. He doesn't really laugh all that often.

Describe their sleep patterns (light/heavy sleeper, no sleep, sleeps too often, etc):

It varies. He has nightmares very often, which causes him to get little to no sleep at times. (Hence why he always looks sleep deprived.) But if he doesn't have any nightmares, then he is quite the heavy sleeper!

Describe their dwelling/house:

He literally lives in a large cave, located on a hillside.

Describe their bedroom:

In the left corner of the cave, there's a little area that extends to the very back of the cave, and it is hidden with a large, flat rock. That is where he sleeps. He also has a pile of grass that he sleeps on in that corner.

Describe their daily rituals:

When he wakes up, he usually either goes for a walk in the forest, hunts for food, or works on his kill requests. Or he'll just murder someone for fun. Throughout the day he can be seen hanging out with Tao, and they usually find something to do together out in the woods.

Psychological/Personality Attributes and Attitudes

Intelligence Level: 

He's not the brightest light bulb in the box... He never attended any school as a child, and he can barely read or spell things. He knows nothing when it comes to math either. He tends to take a lot of risks that would seem rather dumb. He's not smart at all when it comes to technology or civilized things for that matter, but he is intelligent when it comes to fighting, killing, and survival. He also knows quite a bit about nature in general.

Known Languages:

English. He can't even speak it properly.

Ursish! (A.K.A. Bear language! I finally got a better name for it.) Ursish is a language that only bears can understand (obviously.). It is a more prehistoric language now that is hardly used, but sometimes he has kill requests that are written in it. 

Character's long-term goals/desires in life:

He wants to kill his father and take out his entire facility of robots. 

Character's short-term goals/desires in life:

Keep completing his assassinations, Keep the forest safe, and make it where people stop camping in his forest.

Secret desires:

He wants to kill a creature known as a meridean. (I made the species up.) It is a very aggressive species that resides in a dangerous place known as Lunar Hollows. Merideans are highly feared by most people, and they are very hard to kill. Scourge wants to kill one and take it's claws for a necklace, but trying to face on is practically a death wish. (Here's Mazahrkuu. She's a meridean.)

He also kinda wants to torture Tao in his torture chamber, but not kill him. It's not like he has anything against Tao but... Scourge is one kinky bastard.

Not at all! He just kinda does shit with little to know confidence, and hopes that it will maybe work.

How do they see him/herself?:

He sees himself as a monster and as a horrible person. But he doesn't really want to change either. He has no self-esteem.

How do they believe s/he is perceived by others?:

He believes that he is feared by most, loathed by all, and only respected by a couple of people. 

What is the character most proud of?:

His forest. That's the thing that he has the most pride in!

What does the character like least about themselves?:

His mentality and his personality.

He expresses himself through murdering people. He puts a lot of emotion into each and every one of his kills.

Scourge tends to be more dominate, but in all honesty, he's both! Sometimes he likes to be the submissive one.

He has no patience at all. If something isn't happening quick enough for him, well, he will find a way to make it happen!

He is 100% ruled by emotion. He always let's his emotions get the best of him.

He's curled up in his cave, alone out in the forest, or right after he murders someone.

He has a dark sense of humor. Sometimes a joke about death or suffering will get a smirk out of him.

To just live a peaceful and free life without anyone or anything bothering him.

Shit just tends to happen to him constantly.

He's very assertive, and he isn't afraid to speak up or speak his mind when something isn't going his way. He's brave and doesn't let anyone, or anything get in his way. He can also become quite attached to something or someone (rarely), and protect them with his life.

He's got a very fucked up imagination, and his mental state is twisted beyond belief. He always has some weird, creepy, demented thoughts going through his head at all times. He is very emotional, and can let his emotions impact everything he does. Scourge also has severe anger issues.

His mentality. He can very easily "snap" when something goes wrong, which at times can leave him quite vulnerable.

Pessimist. Definitely pessimist.

He is actually an ambivert! He hates being cooped up inside of somewhere for too long, and he loves to just go outside and explore! But he also tends to not be open about himself, and he hates being around people or meeting new people.

Right now, his greatest fear is that he will end up killing Tao.

Acrophobia (Fear of heights), Pyrophobia (Fear of fire), and for some reason he is terrified of jellybeans.

Despite the fact that he is a psychopath who lives out in the middle of nowhere, he pretends that his life is quite normal and balanced, even if he knows that isn't true.

Biggest regret:

Not running away sooner.

Leaving Tao behind when he did run away the first time.

Becoming an assassin.

Scourge's deepest and darkest secret is truly dark and fucked up by all means... His corner in the cave. Because he can curl up in there and hide from everyone.

Fish. He also loves it if Tao brings sushi or Chinese take-out to the cave. He really only drinks water but, he does in fact love chocolate milk.

Honestly, a lot of things that are normally considered "wrong" are considered "right" to him.

Cutting down trees, polluting, or destroying anything in nature. It sickens him to see people do that.

Scourge has no self-control. If he feels the urge to lash out, he will lash out. He has a hard time holding things in.

He is very paranoid and aggressive towards strangers. He acts a lot more secure and calm around Tao. (Literally his only friend)

When he was younger, he was actually very kind for the most part, and he would never hurt anyone on purpose. Scourge also used to be very timid, and fearful. Now, he is quite the opposite!

He still has that syndrome that makes him randomly lash out in primitive fits. He also still has major trust issues, and he loves to be away from everyone.

His mother being the main one, also he has just murdered people who he had once known before.

The death of his mother is one of the main things that caused him to run away. And after he ran away, everything changed.

He usually is only disappointed for a little bit. Then he moves on.

He get's really anxious when there are people watching him. If people are trying to push him into doing something that he doesn't want to, then he will probably just murder them. He ain't takin' shit from anyone!

He sulks in his corner for about ten minutes and then he just forgets about it.

Scourge has developed and array of mental issues throughout his life, and he also isn't the best at handling said issues. The primal side of him comes from that Veterisan Syndrome that he has.

He basically sat under the stars with Tao, and they stayed up the entire night just talking about stuff, and catching up on their lives.
