Second chance

(Tag warning: stillborn)

The world was a cold and desolate wasteland for as far as young eyes could see. How long had he been bound to this place? The goddess who visited him often growing to be a sort of mother to him in these times. His soul older then his form ached to see her sorrow each time she failed to free him. His brother visited more often than his sister, although unknowingly. Watching as one of the young gods swooned over him in the shadows during his latest visit. He would not trade his siblings for the world. Happy that at least they made it to the home they had prayed for.

Sitting now the young lion found the snow whipping through his intangible body. His paws not making a dent in the snow as he fidgeted. Something was happening... which was saying a lot for the ghost. He felt a pull he had not sensed before. Fear laced throughout his energy. Was this his true end? Had Nebt finally found a way to free his spirit from these icy lands? Waiting alone as the pull grew stronger the goddess herself finally appeared. Face holding both excitement and sorrow, "Come along Fade, there has been an unforeseen opportunity."

The realm of the gods was strange to the cub. Something different from the land he had been held to all these years. In the distance he could see figures ahead. Two curled together as one seemed to be comforting the other. Next to them layed a far too still form, and Fade realized just what Nebt had meant, and why she had carried greif with her.

Suen looked up one he had heard them approach. Sorrow and confusion clear from his expression. Nebt had delivered the news to him and Aton. They're third child... was just not possible for them to have a child outside blessings from the stars? He had not understood what she had ment by another way once she explained no child had existed in the small form to begin with. Yet, as he watched the misty cub follow her closer his heart clenched again. "Who?"

"A friend... I've never been able to free him from where he passed, and he can't leave for long. I understand this is sensitive, but this may be his only chance." The cub was staring at the body as she spoke. His own stare of sadness wavered with his form. "He has siblings in the clan we all care for. As for his memories... there is no guarantee they will stay." Suen nudged Aton back so he could walk towards the two forms before him. One with form but no life, the other a spirit who only had this chance. He wasn't sure how Nebt planned to do this, but his sorrow for the cub to never be and the small life cut too short before him. He knew what his answer would be, he could never leave a child too suffer if he could change their fate.
