Regarding Symbols

Zani has a personal symbol and a collective symbol that represents the series as a whole. Zani's personal symbol, red and pink hearts, represent her passion and femininity. She isn't afraid to show her love for others and those who are close to her. Love is her driving force. 

The collective symbol, the crocus flower, represent her hometown of Saffron Hills where the main export of the town is the saffron spice and the town is surrounded by hillside crocus fields. Every year in the fall harvest festivals are held where the townsfolk gather saffron threads and make treats using the collected threads to share with their friends and family.

Character Inspirations

The following characters are what inspired Zani's creation given their commonalities:

• Esmeralda - Like Esmeralda, Zani is an outspoken humanitarian, verbally powerful, cunning, sultry, free-spirited, and morale. Aside from her fiery nature, she is ultimately kind and selfless, willing to stand up for those who are oppressed.
• Jasmine - Like Jasmine, Zani has zero tolerance for anyone that belittles her. She is strong-willed and defiant, not afraid to speak her mind. Zani is notorious at using her appeal as an asset to gain the trust of her enemies and humiliate them when the time is right.
• Lilo - Like Lilo, Zani has a spirited personality and believes the good in everyone, yet even has her breaking points. Zani can be very emotional when hurt or when someone close to her is in trouble (mainly her brother). Zani can be somewhat reckless and selfish, but remains sweet and loving.
• Jessica Rabbit - Like Jessica, Zani's beauty goes beyond than just her appearance. She is elegant, classy, graceful, loving, quick-witted, and alluring. She only has eyes for the person she loves despite her flirtatious manner.
• Raven Baxter - Like Raven; Zani is strong, confident, and loud. She also has an interest in fashion design and wants to open up her own boutique and sell clothing but works for a high-maintenance fashion icon as a junior designer to make ends meet. Zani can be brutally honest when it comes to fashion and bossy, but she has a heart of gold and loves to have fun.
• Rei Hino/Sailor Mars - Like Rei in the original 1990's anime adaptation, Zani is ambitious, fiery, and boy-crazy.
• Clover - Like Clover, Zani is flirtatious, impulsive, and fashionable. Zani is rivals with Tina, a girl who shares characteristics of Clover's rival, Mandy. Zani has had multiple love interests in the past but those relationships ended on rather short terms for various reasons. However, there is one that has caught her fancy but has difficulty winning over. Nevertheless, Zani doesn't give up on love easily. Like Clover, Zani is also intimately knowledgeable about pop culture topics, especially topics about attractive male celebrities. Although she has a disdain of getting her hands dirty, Zani is loyal to her friends and won't hesitate to get her hair, clothes, or her face messy just to help them. Zani and Clover share their voice actress.

• For Andrea Taylor as Zani, her speech patterns follow Clover from Totally Spies minus the valley girl accent. She normally sounds like Mary Jane Watson from Ultimate Spiderman (2005 video game), though she can slip in a little valley girl when needed.
• For Maaya Sakamoto as Zani, she sounds close to Aerith Gainsborough from Final Fantasy XII Remake.
• Understudies for Zani's English voice include Marisha Ray, Katie Griffin, Mariah Rose Faith, Allegra Clark, and Cristina Valenzuela
