A collection of short fragments from the life of Nobutoshi Mochizuki - and other assorted factoids. Part of a DnD5e campaign that went absolutely nowhere, unfortunately.

It is a new day. Delit. After yesterday's failure, Nobu absolutely attempts again to get a job from the family.

The family has some extra work available for you today!  Fortunately? Or rather bittersweet, due to an issue that the media  hasn't covered yet, the Police have been completely occupied throughout  today, the family lets you know that they have some high value intel  they need delivered to a contact of theirs and now that there isn't as  much of a chance of that intel being lost, they're willing to send you  on a mission.

Fortunately things go great for  Nobu! No issues during the trip, Nobu is able to get the intel to the  contact and gets paid directly with no problem. Things are going a  little too well... It's a little unsettling to say the least after  everything that's been happening.

Whatever the police were busy with, it was definitely meddling in the affairs of the family.. Which, y’know, made Nobu a little more.. cautious.. about what affairs his family were actually concerning themselves with. Well, it wasn’t as if the potential illegal nature was anything new to Nobu, but generally package deliveries were clean enough.

..Oh, who was he fooling. He knew that this was a mess he had become involved in, and someday it would catch up to him. Until that day, however? He had bigger concerns. And making some extra money for Pompom was the first one.

He paused, for a moment. Gods, what had even happened.. That fucking 8th day. THAT FUCKING GODSDAMNED 8TH DAY.. They almost died.. Fuck, Nobu isn’t actually sure if they hadn’t. Quite honestly, just.. Thinking of that moment.. Gives him a panic attack on the same scale that he had that day. Couldn’t think. Just act. THAT TABLET STARTED EVERYTHING. IT HAD TO BE SMASHED.

...But Poms misheard and then they all got taken down and.. He missed that jump. HE. MISSED. THAT JUMP. But he still ended up just fine on the other side of the water. And in one adrenaline fueled moment, smashed the stone with some gravity assist. Damn near broke his ankles with all that force..

...Broke Pompom’s leg.

And then took days to snap out of his fucking panic attack before finally helping the Felis get to a hospital. Of. Fucking. Course. All of this was for Poms. Did the Felis even know Nobu was the cause of his leg getting broken..? Everyone else had been unconscious.. Perhaps nobody knew, but him.

But right. Nobu slapped his own face, snapping him out of it.. Despite the high value of this one package, despite the police maybe or maybe not watching out for this delivery.. It seemed routine. Intel, apparently. For a known contact. Someone he had already once delivered to.

Still. This is all a bit too convenient, especially after yesterday’s complete lack of work. So Nobu decided to scope things out first. If the police caught him then, he was just a student checking on things without any suspicious packages. The route was an easy run, so.. Actually, scratch the ‘pretending to be just checking things out’ plan- It may be cloudy, but the weather’s fine. Just a bit warm.

Sporting hoodie. Gym shoes. Shorts. Boom, just a guy taking a nice jog. What is that, officer? Strange things happening, I’ll be sure to be looking out for them then, thanks!.. Is what he would say, but after taking a nice jog somewhat along his route- clearly, no jogger would be caught in alleyways, so those were avoided- he realized something. There were no police to be found, at all..

...Well then. If it’s THAT routine, THAT simple. Loop back around. Package in the front pouch of the hoodie, replacing his earlier water bottle.. And another jog. Just a second lap. No cops. Package delivered. During daytime. Damn. He felt pretty brazen, having done that, but it worked out..

And 420 GP? For one blazingly fast delivery? That’s 250 GP towards Pompom’s hospital bill. 25% done. It’d be awhile before that’s paid off, but they’d get there eventually.

...An actual high value package. After yesterday’s disappointment, this is a little too convenient.. But I’m not gonna complain about the 420 GP I earned. I’ll immediately pay part of Pom’s debt.
