It Has A Special Ring To It

Laying down, staring up at that ceiling, Rayden was having a hell of a time trying to get himself to fall asleep. It had been a relatively normal day. Adam following him home, eating dinner together with everyone, dragons, kids, and teenage boys making a momentary mess because someone smacked Rayden in the face with their mash potatoes. From there they had to steam clean the carpet to get everything out, but it was good as new now. Dishes done, laundry put away, even the windows got a brief wiping from all the tippy taps happening on the outside. No homework, no projects, maybe it was because his body was still trying to wind down from the excitement?

Eh, either way, he wished sleep would catch up with his mind. Having nothing but where to take the kids to on a picnic on his mind, the obvious choice would be the fishing pond. They loved throwing bread at all the wild animals as well as seeing Adam gather up a hoard of them. Inwardly groaning, he looked over to the shirtless male next to him. Not particularly caring how they liked to sleep, their shirt was in the wash, currently being cleaned of stains from the food fight.

There had been offers to simply borrow one of Rayden's shirts but nooo, they were either slightly too big, or too itchy for the rich boys refined tastes. Something that he suspiciously questioned, but it was whatever. Bored and glancing over to the other, he waaas able to get a closer look at the scars that peppered their chest, normally hidden. Along with something he didn't know Adam was interested in, a ring on a chain. Probably most curious about that since they didn't wear it above their shirt. Thinking that he simply wanted a closer look at the type of jewelry the red head was into, he reached over to pick it up off their skin for examining.

Coming in and out of dozing, it wasn’t often when Adam was more tired before anyone else. It had been a long week though, and he was at his limit when it came to no sleep. He was sure if he want to his doctor and told them he needed a higher dose of sleep medication, he’d get it, but the waiting in the room, the questions he’d just get squinted at for, the talk he’d be given for being so irresponsible before he was even an adult, it just wore on him.

He was laying for now though, to one side feeling Raydne moving about as he usually did at night, and Rai was tucked into his neck and snoring away as he also did. It was calm after the kids were worn out from their food fight, and rather comfortable just laying there in pants and nothing else if you didn’t count his bandages that tended to always stay on.

It was pleasant, Rayden not displeased or giving off too many emotions so it was a black void for him, the sounds of the city heard and kept him grounded and vaguely awake, and what’s more he was getting his way when it came to sleeping in the bed with Rayden again. It was a glorious time for the redhead, even if he wasn’t giving off his super pleased feelings. He was happy, and he knew Rai could at least feel that, with maybe Ryaden too if their second bond was working.

In one of his more pleasant and maybe a bit gay dreams, with plenty of material already given to him from other times of just ‘boys being boys’’, he was at peace with everything. Rayden didn’t need to know his gay feels were gay because of wants and desires in his sleep, he could believe what he wanted.

That was all suddenly dashed away though, the soft touch of a hand on his chest was welcome, but feeling just that oh so vague tug on the necklace with a ring attached he reacted a moment without considering who it could be. Rolled on top of whoever this could be, hand latched onto their wrist, he was pinning the blond down to the bed in not so sexy ways, holding that hand a little too tightly to be considered playful in any way.

“The Hell are you doing?” He asked in his still sleepy, but rather rough tone that woke Rai up in an instant. Hissing as he too was confused and waking suddenly.

Simply figuring he'd tell Adam he thought the ring was pretty cool if he woke, Rayden hadn't predicted just how light of a sleeper the other was. His world suddenly went from sideways to horizontal once more, granted without him doing anything. Flinching briefly at the less than friendly hold on his wrist, it was a good thing he was used to some roughhousing already.

"Nothin." he blurted out immediately, more of an automatic response since he wasn't exactly sure if it was him or maybe a passing nightmare that had Adam growling at him. He was just tired, and suddenly more awake than he wanted to be. Not even knowing if he'd feel the other were having a good or bad dream at all, he was more afraid of the sudden shift in emotions to consider releasing the ring.

From the closet, even the dark dragon was stirred by the shift, feeling that echo of pressure encasing his arm. Rising from resting in the clean clothes hamper, he was phasing through the door in a moment's notice. Quickly at the side of the bed, it was just the two of them along with a confused Rai. Shrieking a little louder than normal in distress, he reached out a bony hand to stroke Adam's leg. He didn't have legs himself, but the riders would always pet and love on him when he was distressed from something. Surely it would work the same on them?

“You sure about that one?” Still hissing at the blond he tended to be more on the gentle side with, his glowing red eyes surely didn’t help anything either.

The screeching of his small fire dragon was only background noise, even as Rai ran around the bed, nipping at his pants for a moment before he quieted down and curried back up to the pillows where he crawled on Rayden’s chest, biting gently at his arm as that seemed to be here Adam’s attention was focused. He had since learned to be gentle with Rayden, even if Adam wasn’t.

As the Darkness touched him, Adam flinched at first, but relaxed as slowly his grip loosened. He moved his hand down more, allowing Rayden to let go, but still had a grip on him even if he already had him stuck in a position lewd him would have loved to indulge in for just a few moments.

“Let it go Rayden, let go!” Rai told the other rider, knowing what had Adam suddenly aggressive, and knew the pretty easy solution to it.

As soon as the ring was released, the ridge Adam that was full of tension and displeasure was suddenly calm once more. Rolling back to plop on the bed and curl up in the spare blanket the Darkness had picked out for him. Rai was murring away, licking at Rayden’s hand for a moment as he made sure it was fine, confused still but at least the bigger part of the situation was done.

“You alright?” Adam finally asked, still sounding tired, but was more awake and he hated it. He wanted to sleep, but now he was left in a situation of discomfort, even if he wasn’t going to tell Rayden this.

Staring straight up at Adam, those bright red eyes of his were bound to get him punched in the face again one day, but at least in the moment it was helping in keeping Rayden frozen. The little fire dragon was less than helpful nipping at his arm with tiny teeth. Looking between the thankfully looser grip and Rei, he probably would have released the ring to try pulling away unbidden anyway.

Watching Adam roll away from his rider, Darkness cooed both sweet and gurgly noises at the bonded rider. The only cute thing that usually came out of the dragon being his purrs. Telling him he was a good boy even though they weren't able to understand his noises themselves. Everyone calming back down now, Darkness slowly slunk back down to the floor, laying down on the carpet as he still wanted to be close to the two distressed feeling rider's.

Rayden, of course, rolled on to his side, putting his back to Adam as soon as he could. Holding up his snatched wrist, his eyes narrowed briefly, able to see the faint line even in the darkness. Whatever, he'd just wear a bangle tomorrow. "'Course I am, don't go thinking I'm some shitty fragile flower just cause you caught me off guard. I can still kick your ass." Despite his grumbling back at the other, Rayden probably wasn't going to drift off to sleep easily any time soon. He just hoped their bond wasn't strong enough yet that they could feel his unease. At least, he was pretty sure that was his.

Staring at the back of the head, Adam debated over what to do as Rai crawled back to the comfort of the pillows and stretched out before finally settling back down. Finally deciding to move closer to Rayden to hold him, he supposed not like anything worse was going to happen. Not in his usual way though, but the tender way someone would hold someone who needed a hug, a desire for forgiveness wanted, knowing he was probably too rough for the other.

“I didn’t say you were fragile, you were scared of me.” Snuggling into his hair, Adam at least knew how to calm himself down. He was uncomfortable, sure, but he did try his best to calm down and send Rayden those more relaxed feelings as he was before. Closing his eyes as he enjoyed the other’s warmth, he could feel Rai pulling the other blanket over Rayden in an attempt to get everyone to lay and be happy, and get Adam to settle back down and sleep as he needed to.

“Try to get some sleep, kids will be up in a few hours and we have school today as well. You’re grumpy when you don't sleep.” He always would have that teasing tone, laughing as Rayden huffed at him and attempted freedom, but nuzzling back into the male he fell silent and left his hands just wrapped around his waist. No desire to do anything more but to comfort Rayden into some sort of sleep, even if short.
