Restoration
You'd left home only a week prior, hastily throwing essentials into a backpack and evacuating. But the one thing you didn't think to pack, water, likely the most important thing, somehow, forgotten. "im going to fucking die out here, alone and helpless" Your thoughts spilling out of your mouth. Rolling your eyes and looking ahead. Nothing but the horizon, no animals, or other crilxoid, no plants, and most regrettably, no water Just sand and the occasional trashy shelter.
Chapter 6
Immediately as you step outside, you start sweating. That big ball of heat in the sky is absolutely blazing. You think about checking the temperature. But of course, none of your devices work, and the internet has been out for months, with the exception of high-end government tech, due to there being no one to keep it up beside the few officials that can keep a few computers running. Aeryn seemed fine, Thin clothes and pearly white skin, paler than you'd ever seen - actually. Axon, on the other hand, seemed about half-dead already, thick clothing as well as dark skin and hair, you couldn't imagine how he felt. The more you walk, the more you think about how this whole mess started. Aeryn's mother was the former sovereign. You know you shouldn't talk or think bad about the dead, but, there are no words to describe that lady other than the absolute biggest bitch you've ever seen. She got us all into this mess by ordering the overhunting of all food sources. The food lasted for a few years, but when it started to dwindle - that's when all hell broke loose. Crilxoid against Crilxoid, men, women, and children, all pitted against each other, trying to do no more than simply survive on the low stock. Families were torn apart, cannibalizing each other. Family pets became dinner. Fires, so many fires broke loose, and so many homes, companies, and cities were destroyed or bankrupted. It was just... unimaginable. Then, in the midst of it all, Sovereign Gaelan decided she'd rather kill herself than take responsibility for the discord and death she caused around the planet. Leaving no one but her only daughter, 27-year-old Aeryn Gaelan to be the new leader, Sovereign Gaelan II, or as she seems to prefer, Lady Aeryn, was seemingly terrified that she'd been thrown into this position so suddenly, but she quickly gained her footing and took over the media with her chosen right-hand man, Commander Axon, ready to reverse her mother's evils. The few remaining Crilxoid were ecstatic to have sensible leaders again. This is when your town, quite honestly one of the most well-off towns through this whole apocalyptic world, started to run out of resources, causing you to flee. After a week of walking, here you are now, traversing to the next ghost town with none other than the sovereign and commander themselves. You still wonder what they may have been doing out here, you wonder if you'll ever find out.
