Pokémon

❝Welcome to the wonderful world of Pokémon!❞
What's this world about?

This world takes place in an alternate timeline of regular Pokémon, in which a long time ago, a mad scientist's experiment to fuse themself with their beloved pokémon goes wrong, and all pokémon around the world are affected! Every trainer is fused with their pokémon, however there are significantly more pokémon in the world than humans. This means that the gijinkas are a bit more wild and primitive due to having much more pokémon blood than human blood. But, all of this is in the past. In present times, most gijinkas act very much like humans and have working jobs! Usually, the only difference is that they have access to unique moves and abilities!

In this world, humans and regular pokémon do not exist. Instead, they are all replaced by pokémon gijinkas, which will be commonly be referred to simply as "pokans," which is a mash-up of the words "pokémon" and "human." You may base your gijinka in any of the main story regions, as long as your pokémon can naturally be found there! Since the world was inhabited mainly by pokans, common modes of transportation such as cars, ships, and airplanes were never needed, and therefore never invented. Plus, flying over a great expanse of water would be very tiring! After a while, knowledge of the other regions became somewhat of a myth.

Notes

OC Rules

  • For now, please only make a pokan live in a region where their base pokémon has been seen before! This doesn't necessarily mean that they have to have been created from that generation's region. For example, Pikachu is from Kanto, but can also be naturally found in any region. Therefore, your Pikachu pokan can be from any region of your choosing! Please check their region before making a pokan just in case!
  • Please do not steal or copy anyone else's gijinka design, even if they are not from this alternate timeline! We encourage creativity and do not support theft!
  • You are allowed to make a gijinka of a pokémon that someone else has already made a gijinka for, just as long as you do not steal or heavily reference their design! Multiple pokémon exist, after all!
  • Pokans have a much longer lifespan than humans and age very slowly. They could practically be immortal as long as they aren't killed in battle.
Societal Rules

This world takes minor inspiration from Toby Fox's Undertale!

  • Due to battling becoming illegal, pokans cannot battle each other to gain EXP. As a result, pokans that have evolved or have gained LV are looked down upon, almost outcasted even.
  • But battling is not the only way to gain EXP! Rare candy is a pricey but highly sought after commodity that allows pokémon to gain enough levels to evolve without having to battle. It's only socially acceptable to gain levels if you are an evolved pokémon, but gaining more levels past that is suspicious. Because of this, nobody eats rare candy for pure enjoyment or anything, because they can never take back those levels that will ostracize them.
  • Just like in regular Pokémon games, depleting a pokeémon's health will only cause them to faint. Once you have fainted, you can be then be taken to a pokémon center for healing. Fainting a pokémon still grants EXP, but the action is still illegal due to its risks. Leaving a pokémon fainted will not directly harm them, but it is unwise to leave them in such a state when there could be nefarious pokémon lurking about, ready to pounce on the bonus EXP from killing them.
  • It is regular for pokémon to eat each other in the canon. But, it is kinda considered cannibalism in this AU. So, like battling, eating other pokémon is illegal. This is not a big problem due to the human blood turning all the pokans into omnivores, but pokans will still have their own preferences between eating plant and meat. Fainting a pokémon grants full EXP. Killing them also grants full EXP. Eating them... well, you get the idea. As such, you can get full EXP from a single pokémon three times.
  • It is so taboo to eat pokémon that it is almost never even mentioned or considered in towns and cities. However, wild pokémon still exist. These are the pokémon that were wild from the very beginning, who didn't have a trainer to fuse with, and were therefore all forced into the same body as a random passerby human. As a result, wild pokans have significantly less human blood in them as compared to "tame" pokans. These pokans will act on their urges much more often, and typically stay away from cities and towns due to an unknown fear. It is very unusual for these pokans to work a job, and they will most likely live in the wild indefinitely. Even in the wild, cannibalism and murder is extremely rare.
  • Every pokan carries a pokéball, even the wild ones. They are very important and so even wild pokans will go out of their way into the nearest civilization to get a pokéball for their child. Pokans can go into and out of their own pokéball at will, much like a turtle and their shell. Pokans cannot move their ball once they are in it, but they are pretty much safe in there. Pokéballs are indestructible and the pokan inside them cannot be forced out. Similarly, a pokan cannot be forced into their ball, either. Up to one held item can be brought into the ball when a pokan goes in, which is why most pokan only carry one held item on them at a time, so as not to drop anything. Pokans cannot share balls.

LIVELIHOOD/info

Birth

Pokans hatch from eggs! They will be the same species as their mother, and any pokan can reproduce as long as they are from the same egg group. Egg moves still work like they usually would! Ditto also still work as usual.

Legendary and mythical pokémon usually cannot reproduce, but the human blood made it possible. However, it is still very rare. Legendary and mythical pokémon can typically only lay one egg throughout their entire lifetime. They are also exempt from the EXP rule; these pokémon immediately hatch at Lv. 100, so as to keep them from going extinct. Usually, they hide from everyone else for the sake of self-preservation. Following this idea, starter pokémon hatch at Lv. 5. They're just built different that way.

Aging

Aging is complicated. You do not have to evolve in order to age, but evolution often forces a pokémon to physically age to a certain point. For example, a Pichu pokan may resemble a toddler or a baby for an incredibly long time, but evolving into a Pikachu can immediately make them resemble a teenager. Evolving will also grant pokans some sort of mental maturity. Single-stage pokémon can appear to be any age of your choosing.

Special Mention

Pokémon belongs to Nintendo! The Undertale inspiration (EXP and LV being looked down upon) belongs to Toby Fox! The concept of gijinkas does not belong to me, but this specific AU/lore/toyhou.se world does!
