Weapons

Curios live in a dangerous world. In the past they used wood, stone, and animal bones to craft their weapons; in many parts of the Isles these are still the go-to. But with the advent of the First Guild, curios began to build more complex and effective tools. Today weapons crafted from metals are relatively common, and even new, tech-infused weapons are being invented daily. The average curio has access to basic weapons, but with a little time, money, and maybe a few connections in the right places, it's possible to upgrade to some truly cutting-edge stuff.

For gameplay purposes, weapons are divided into tiers. Each tier is more elaborate than the last, and more importantly, has a higher possible damage output. During combat events or while on Master Hunts, maxing out your damage is essential!

  • To upgrade to the next level, you must have purchased the previous upgrade. There is no skipping from level one directly to level three.
  • Upgrades can only be applied to one curio. They must have the previous upgrade to move on to the next upgrade.
  • Mark your curio's weapon tier on their profile or reg sheet.

Weapon upgrades can be purchased from the Trading Post, while bonus-damage add-ons can be crafted in the Crafting Workshop.

Hit Rates

Basic weapons 0-15
Tier I 0-30
Tier II 0-60
Tier III 0-120

Weapon tech is loosely similar to that of the 1500s, something to keep in mind when designing your own.

Basic Weapons

Free to all players

Basic weapons include things that are often crafted by hand out of wood, stones, and common metals such as iron or bronze. Staffs, bows, machetes, and spears are frequently used by villagers or travelers looking to defend themselves in the wilds. Curios born in dangerous parts of the Isles can typically fashion these types of weapons on the fly, but they can be bought in general stores and outposts all over the Isles. They need to be replaced frequently as they can’t stand up to daily wear and tear well.

Tier I

For curios looking for a more reliable weapon, there are plenty of blacksmiths offering to help. Weapons in this category are usually bought rather than put together at home. They are made from more reliable substances and with the skill of a practiced hand. Even for curios insistent on making their own weapons (like members of the Hunter’s Guild), one or more element will have to be bought. These weapons often look cleaner, last longer, and carry some personalized touch (ie being painted, carved, or having fabric incorporated).

Tier II

At a certain point curios just need a weapon to keep up with them. A weapon that is durable, deadly, and super customizable is a must! At this price point a whole new type of weapon is available. Pistols and muskets are new on the scene and are improving each year (which is a good thing since they’re rather unreliable and prone to backfiring). Some curios, however, prefer to stick with the classics such as bows or spears. Classic weapons are built with the finest materials, often crafted by a specialist, and totally customized to their owner. These types of weapons can last a lifetime.

Tier III

Maybe the standard weapon isn’t enough for a curio’s line of work. Maybe they need something… special. Weapons at this price point are rare, cost a good bit of money, but are always something to behold. Unbreakable blades, machetes made from limited stocks of strong metals, and pistols that don’t backfire when a curio uses them are all available at this price point. Weapons such as these are often passed down through a family or even buried with a curio since they are so precious.
