GRIMS

Grims are a blanket term for a diverse set of three known species. The grimana, grimbite, and grimpup. They are vastly different in appearances, but all share one common ancient ancestor. This common ancestor has given the three species three distinct traits that all tie them together, aside from their general fluffy bug-like appearance.

-Horns (for detecting ores, rocks, gems, detecting tremors in the planet) or antennae (for detecting streams of water, various marine life, providing an enhanced sense of spatial awareness)

-A tail stinger or tail pincher, for self defense or other uses.

-The most important part of all grims' beings- the star.

A grims' star is their entire being, their essence, their soul.

Not much is currently known about what the use of the star was for the ancestors. Current grims scientists are saying it may have been used to consume souls of the old planet. What we do know is that this function is mostly vestigial now. It may function as a second 'mouth' of sorts to modern grims, but most grims will prefer to eat with their 'normal-looking' mouth instead... Especially because there is a lot more yummy food in present day compared to (XXXX years ago)

PLANET INFO

The planet Magni is a planet residing in a sort of pocket universe parallel to our own.

It was once a singular mega continent. On this continent, there were a presumed number of now extinct species that roamed freely across the lands. Among these species were large 'formless' creatures that acted as janitors to the planet. They consumed souls of all fallen things and stored them. It is theorized that they did this to maintain the 'balance' of the world. Their true purpose is still unknown... but what we do know is that they have persisted through all of the catastrophic events that Magni has experienced. We know this because there are three species roaming Magni today that still resemble their common ancestor.

These creatures are known today as 'Grims.'

Grims are a blanket term for 3 species known as 'Grimpups', 'grimbites', and 'grimana.' These creatures are highly diverse in appearance and have a separate taxonomy branch past their similar root ancestor. However, they are no longer the wandering soul consumers that their ancestors once were. Today, grims are more of a whimsical and magical society of fluffy bug-like creatures just trying to live their lives.

Grims today currently inhabit three known continents, Orikoiya, Mya'hyrrh, and K'horrlain. Each continent has a wide range of climates, flora, fauna, and culture. They even have their own spoken languages; Orikan, K'horrvian, and Mya'vish. There are even regional dialects amongst these languages spoken all over Magni.

There are cities and towns across all of these continents. There's even smaller settlements further from bustling city life. You can find grims in the desert, in the mountains, the sky high trees, by the ocean, and who knows where else grims may be lurking on this planet. Magni is still a greatly unexplored place, but many grims are working towards uncovering the secrets of the planet alongside the mystery of their common ancestor.

K'horrlain

K’horrlain, or K’horr is a continent that is made up of dense, lush forests and flat plains. Megaflora are often seen while strolling the dirt paths of K’horr, as well as many different fluffy creatures of all sizes. Here you will find plenty of farms, gardens, and cities built amongst the treetops. Grims here are the closest to nature out of every Grim on Magni. Most of them dabble in agriculture and other nature related hobbies or careers. They know what plants are edible, which ones are not, and which ones provide medicinal value by just glancing at them. Communities on K’horrlain are tight-knit but are by no means unfriendly to outsiders. They welcome new Grims in with open arms and are eager to share the whispers of the forest with their new friends.

Grims native to K’horrlain are the most insectoid appearing, with traits such as mandibles, insect wings, bug-like limbs, and minor plant related magics being more common than anywhere else. Plant growth on the bodies of Grims has also been observed on K’horr, though it is extremely rare to see.

Flower festivals are held every year during the Blooming Season and Grims from all over Magni will flock to K’horrlain to participate.

Mya'hyrrh

The largest known continent on Magni is known as Mya’hyrrh or Mya. Its geographical structure is mainly mountainous terrain across the whole land. To the north there are the snow capped mountains of Ul’myrrh. To the south are the cloud forests of Vald’vyr, and to the west is the desert region of Mul’nah. There are a number of active volcanoes through the region and lining the coastlines. Grims here are no strangers to sudden tremors in the land beneath them.

Most Grims inhabiting Mya’hyrrh live in the center of the continent in a town called Il’vale. It is surrounded by mountains, almost as if it was a giant crater. There are Grims living in the other regions, though not much has been recorded about them yet due to them typically living secluded lifestyles. Grims in the snowy mountains of Ul'myrrh are adapted well to the cold and frigid peaks, while Grims in the desert of Mul'nah are more cold blooded and adjusted to the extreme heat.

Many Grims on Mya’hyrrh are excavators, miners, cave divers, or mountain climbers. They are the most experienced Grims on Magni when it comes to caves, cliffs, and navigation. There are wide ranges of specialties depending on the region you visit.

Grims native to Mya’hyrrh seem to have a concentration of certain traits; horns, sharp claws, pouches, hoods and hooves. These traits seem to be prevalent in dealing with the myriad of climates across the continent. Though you will find more concentrated traits in certain regions. Grims from the snow capped mountains appear to have fluffier bodies while those from the cloud forests tend to have wings, Grims from the desert region usually resemble reptiles with hard scales, translucent eyelids, and forked tongues.

Mya’hyrrh is a large continent home to many kinds of Grims. A number of events and celebrations are held throughout the region every year. Grims come and go for many reasons, be it to experience the events or travel amongst the many climates of the continent and experience mountain climbing. After all, with Mya’hyrrh being so large, surely there are still unexplored areas deep in the mountains.
