Once existed two brothers of godly origin; Prometheus, the god of foresight, and his brother, Epimetheus, the god of hindsight. Together, these two created the creatures that roam the world to this day. Epimetheus was tasked with bringing the lower-intelligence creatures to life. He gave them each wonderful gifts so they could thrive amongst their environments, but they all PALED in comparison to his brother's creation; Humanity.

Humans stood upright on two legs, just like they had. They could think, communicate, and speak with one another. The most important thing about humans was their adaptability. The beings could hide, build, make societies, and more. Epimetheus had held his brother in high regards, and still did, but he increasingly grew more and more jealous of him and his perfect creation. Epimetheus longed to have something achieve that level of greatness; to be acknowledged and to be loved, just as much as humans did.

The first few attempts were poor, almost unethical. The combinations of traits didn’t seem to work out. After the first few hundred tries, Epimetheus created the first “Kimi.” The first Kimi had to have been as large as a tree, with many rows of teeth and muscles. Smaller, more compact legs builfor climbing rather than running. The first Kimi was powerful, strong at that. Epimetheus gave it three final gifts before he had released it into the wild.

First, the gift of sentience and intelligence, maybe beyond that… Bukimi could think at a rate far more advanced than humanity could, and they were at peace with it. Life had its attractiveness to Bukimi, and they (usually) never desired more than that.

Second, the gift of creation. Kimi had no specific diet; and in fact could eat just about anything. Sometimes, Epimetheus swore he gave them a stomach of a black hole, neverending. A Kimi can eat just about anything, from rocks, to stardust, to meat, and more… Nothing goes to say how a Kimi could get addicted to a certain taste, once they’ve tried it.

Third, and lastly, the gift of transformation. It allowed Kimi to freely change between forms, albeit a bit grossly. Kimi transformations tend to be horrifying in the least and scare off anything or anyone it sees. Kimi tend to imprint on what they see and use that for their forms. When copying humans, it is a different set of tasks required…

Human transformation required a lot more studying than anything else a Kimi transformed. The most odd, interesting part of a transformation is that often, a Kimi doesn’t want to go back. Kimi who have a love of appearing human are labeled Bukimi, what we know today.
