Aequors currently exist in a post-apocalyptic world, steadily recovering from the Apocalypse. The Apocalypse resulted from the aftermath of asteroid 37XX-YC which hit planet earth some centuries ago. With technological advancement that surpasses their predecessors, recent discoveries had been made to confirm existence of life and history before the asteroid. As such, has been referred to as "Old Earth". Unfortunately, as majority of records regarding Old Earth were erased during the Apocalypse, the general population still lacks knowledge on Old Earth's history.

Increasing intelligent lifeforms had been discovered after the Apocalypse. Amongst them were the Aequoris, these parasites are assumed to be transported from distant space via 37XX-YC. Aequoris are attracted to humans with significant levels of depression, providing dopamine and serotonin to the human host, to allow for easier attachment. In return, Aequoris extract monoamine oxidase which is the cause for reduced levels of dopamine and serotonine. As good as that sounds, Aequoris also invade the host's nural network are able to take control of the host's body and mind. However fret not, for Aequoris are unable to take control if the host is able to resist relying on Aequoris for production of happy chemicals. While goal of Aequoris remains unclear, we do know for a fact that humans who have turned into Aequors can no longer return.

This peculiar relationship between Aequoris and Human creates what we know as an Aequor. They take on physical traits of both tigers and marine life, while retaining their human body.
