šWelcome to the Landom,š
A world with a mysterious past, a convoluted present and an uncertain future. But surely, one sentence does not determine every existence and life on this particular planet. In fact, three sentients are the apex āGuardiansā of the Landom: The mammalian Shellinir, the rodentlike Vekseli and the reptilian-avian Zuranthi. This is their world so we must walk under their guiding paws ā¦ or talons, depending on who youāre addressing.
šBasic Biomes:š
The Landom is a warm, tropical planet, for the most part! We landed near the Great Shallow Sea, by the large sand dunes of a massive beach - they make up around 30% of the planet. Roiling deep oceans cover a good portion of the planetās surface, as well as deciduous forests.Ā
However, there are some notable anomalies. An ice cap covers the Landomās southern pole; some say itās advancing by the year. A truly gargantuan mountain range cuts the main continent in half; a history of violent continent smashing took place a long time ago. They pierce the sky and guard against an unknown, presumably dangerous biome unknown to the Shellinir and the Zuranthi alike. Perhaps time or a party of brave adventurers will tell ā¦Ā
šHistory:š
It was the Shellinir that came out of a worldwide cataclysm called the āGreat Burning.ā The Shellinirās ancestors, a mammalian species similar to rodents, witnessed a three mile wide asteroid crash into the sea nearby. It wiped out all the thriving mammal species and most of the sea life; except for them, a few hardy fish, and the meek reptiles.Ā You know how the meek inherit the earth ā¦ or something like that? Both the Shellinir and the Vekseli, two vastly different mammalian creatures, evolved to witness the dawn of a new era.Ā The Shellinir evolved to what they are today; alone in the Landom apart from an isolationist other mammalian creature, high up in the coldest places in the world. Several reptilian sentients came and went, resulting in the Zuranthi, and many other wanderers of the wildwoods. Thatās all I can say without taking wild guesses.Ā
