With the power of modern technology the world has vastly changed, including Wishwings. 


Wishwings have grown considerably in number since their old days in Japan. Now being able to be created all across the world there is a modern culture revolving around them. Wishwings, being creatures born to grant desires are friendly and gravitate towards humans naturally. While it can be a beneficial relationship, there are many cases of wealthy and powerful people abusing their power. In fact many modern countries have passed laws making it illegal to own or house a wishwing.

However, wishwings are allowed to live in human society and offer help through employment. Many commercials and products feature wishwings and some popular brands have a special mascot. There are even wishwing idols that perform across the country. 

Often Wishwings are born in areas that receive a large amount of tourists, especially from Japan, their country of origin. The appearance of a wishwing depends on what object they are conceived from. Most have a Japanese appearance with traditional red and white rope talisman belts with shide head ornaments as well as paper wings. However, new age wishwings can be born with different materials and even have wings made from metal or glass. Their appearances are shaped by the surrounding area's culture, meaning a wide variety of wishwings now thrive in our world. In fact statistically the most common type of wishwing is one born from a cell phone or computer.

The are popular internet cultures regarding wishwings as well. Some large groups of anime otakus have even gathered and poured their desires into anime figurines in hopes of obtaining a waifu. It was a historical event broadly talked about on all message boards and even made it to the news regarding a wishwing born from a figurine. The created wishwing, bearing the appearance of said figure's whereabouts are currently unknown. She was detained by authorities, but was broken out by a small group and hasn't been heard from since.
