🌈 About the Species

Welcome to Charmies, an open species!

Charmies are a completely OPEN and free to make species! They are anthros with bottom halves that are made of see-through material and filled with any manner of fun items.Their unique design traits include large cheek markings and toy-like accessories called Charms, which are a source of magic.

Charmies were originally  modeled the species after the inspiration of sensory comfort items such  as soft fabric, slime, fidget toys, etc. The concept of putting objects into characters isn't a new one, nor one that Charmies are trying to own or copyright. Similarities to Charmies in  character designs that don't belong to the species are of no issue and  heavy inspiration may be taken from the species.

A new info hub for Charmies is in the works and will be released when finished.
Until then, you can reference the following info and existing Charmie designs for details on the traits of the species.

Physical Appearance

Charmies are anthropomorphic creatures with bottom halves made of a see-through material and full of fun items! Charmies' bodies can be made of practically anything:  flesh, plush, plastic, vinyl/pooltoy, etc - as can their bottom halves,  which are usually glass or plastic. The upper and bottom halves of a  Charmie are always separated by a distinct line or shape on the torso.

Charmies can have various body shapes and sizes, from anthro to centaur, quadrupedal, and even mermaid! They can be any type of animal species, even creatures, chimeras and mythical beings! They can have any kind of horns, ears, teeth, wings, and can have paws, claws, hooves, talons, multiple sets of limbs, etc. The only restriction here is that Charmies cannot be humanoid.

"Deco" - aka, filling!

The empty bottom halves of Charmies are often filled with any manner of fun items called "deco," after small decorative accessories often sprinkled on or mixed into  slime.

Charmies can be full of any type of items you want! Even fantastical things. Some examples include: clouds, water, slime, crayons, food, toys, gummy guts, drinks, bugs, sand, plants, fossils, lava, gems, mulch, paper, ghosts, soil, candy, and more. The possibilities are endless, outside of items which go against our rules and guidelines - such as drugs, realistic internals or gore, and NSFW / adult themes. A Charmie's tail, horns, claws, spikes, wings, etc. can all also be filled with deco!

Charms

Charms are what Charmies are named after! They're small items that give Charmies the ability to use magic and transform between different forms such as anthro, quadrupedal, plush, etc. Charms allow a Charmie to transform forms and sizes - and gives each Charmie their own special magical ability! These are usually domestic effects like mimicking sounds, spontaneous bursts of confetti, making bursts of  rain, etc. But you can have them use no magic, or lots of magic!

A Charm can be anywhere on the body, as long as it's a distinct item or addition to the design - they can't be a marking. Charms are commonly found on the front of the torso or tail, but can also be in the tummy, on the forehead or back, worn as an accessory, etc. Charms are completely optional, and can be missing, broken, or malfunctional.

Cheek Markings

Large, defined cheek markings are the only required marking for a Charmie to have. These can be any shape and color as long as they are obvious and identifiable.

Charmies were originally created by an autistic and ADHD person who modeled after comfort objects and stim toys for neurodivergent people. It is encouraged to enjoy Charmies as comfort characters and positive stimmy / sensory characters. Anyone can own one!
