Familiars

Familiars

Eelum are able to bond with specific creatures that serve as familiars. Different familiar breeds all have their perks and quirks, of course. Thanks to the magic involved in their bonds, any bonded familiar can learn how to speak as the eelum do.

There are no restrictions as to how many familiars a single eelum may have. Some are content with bonding with a single creature, while others seek as many as they can care for.

Whether or not they are capable of performing magic, familiars can be affected by their eelum's magic. This includes shrinking to a smaller size (specifically when the eelum is in a smaller form), enhancements to live in environments (including underwater), or communicating through non-verbal means like telepathy.

MYO familiars can be purchased only with charms through the shop forum or on the discord #purchase channel.

Lillifox

These small, ferret-like fox creatures are exceptionally loyal to their bonded eelum. They grow no larger than the size of the average house cat. In the wild, they live in packs that care for each other with one or two individuals that perform as pack leaders. While not capable of performing any magic, lillifoxes are vicious fighters. Their sharp, needle-like teeth and impressive jaw strength allows them to even pierce through metal.

Most lillifox familiars have been bred in captivity, which makes them less likely to be aggressive than their wild versions. Some eelum will try to achieve certain behaviors or abilities through breeding lillifoxes, and there are some pedigrees which claim great improvements.

There are still lillifoxes that are captured in the wild; these creatures tend to be more fierce than a domesticated lillifox and may be overprotective of their bonded eelum.

Regardless of their origin, lillifoxes are pack creatures at heart. They are easily kept in pairs or groups, so it is not uncommon to see one eelum that has bonded many of them at the same time.

Traits

Ears : Lillifoxes have four oversized ears. They may appear fin-like in nature, or they may be heavily furred.

Teeth : Always fanged, with sharp teeth.

Ridges : They vary in size and run along the center of the back, from the back of the head down the tail. Usually broken up into irregular shapes, which may be pointed or rounded. Some individuals may have less ridges.

Paws : Three digits on each limb. Some lillifoxes many have visible paw pads, others may have them hidden under fur. They do not have visible claws. They do not have opposable thumbs, but can grip items rather well.

Tail : The most heavily furred part of a lillifox. The fur is typically longer and trails on the ground.

Posture : Lillifoxes can walk on two legs, but frequently use all four when they're in a hurry.

Other

Lillifoxes do not wear clothing. They may wear accessories or jewelry, depending on their personal tastes.

Trixi

Trixi are catepillar-like worms that repel evil and love to nestle in eelum's tassels. When tassels aren't available, they may choose to loop themselves around an eelum's nazar, in their hair, their horns, shoulders, or even within the folds of their clothing. They tend to mimic the voice of their bonded eelum, but each has its own unique voice.

In the wild, trixi are often found hidden in hanging plants. They tend to prefer those with softer leaves and flowers, but often blend in with more colorful plants. They primarily eat fresh young leaves and shoots, but require so little that they rarely do too much damage to any one plant.

Many eelum collect trixi as fashion accessories, due to their nature of contentedly staying in one place... most of the time. Bonded trixi have the ability of foretelling events related to their eelum. The method may vary; sometimes they speak in what sounds like riddles, sometimes they show images reflected in their eyes or the nazar on their tail. Regardless of the method, a trixi will fall into a deep slumber after a foretelling. They typically cannot remember what they were able to see of the future when they wake. An eelum who tries to puzzle out meaning of the foretellings usually ends up confused or misled.

Traits

Third eye : All trixi have a third eye in the middle of their head. The size and shape of it may vary. It typically only closes after a foretelling.

Ears : Fluffy and antenna-like. They may lay flat against the trixi's head and blend in with the rest of their fur.

Limbs : Trixi have no visible arms, legs, or feet.

Fur : Always a heavy coat, but the texture may vary. Some have straight fur, but others have wavy or curly textures.

Nazar : Trixi have their own nazar, similar to eelum. Those who are bonded to an eelum for a long time may have the design of their nazar change to match their eelum.

Tassels : Unlike eelum, trixi tassels are changeable. They are held by the very end of a trixi's tail and can be swapped if the trixi is convinced to let go of it. Trixi love different styles of tassels and to mimic their favorites. A trixi without a tassel is always unhappy and may become ill.

Other

The tassels on a trixi can be changed to match their bonded eelum. They always have the option of changing back to a previous design. Any unused tassels can be considered to exist in an invisible storage. Past tassels are not required on trixi's masterlist entries, but they must be depicted with at least one style on them.

Trixi are small; they are never longer than the forearm or smaller than the hand of their respective eelum. Most are just the right size to wrap around an eelum's nazar.

What was that...?

An unknown eelum runs through, carrying a large wicker basket on their back that appears to be... wriggling?? Before anyone can take a closer look, both eelum and basket have vanished into the scenery. They must have been in some sort of hurry. Was it something dangerous? Surely not. On the ground where they passed are little tufts of what looks like dandelion seeds...
